I was lucky enough to get a preorder in on Pulse, which was shocking since I was in the legit middle of nowhere on coffee shop WiFi. Right place right time I guess.

My Dorkside preorder of Greef Karga, Moff Gideon, and Kuiil arrived yesterday.

LEGO / Re: The End of the Road?
« on: February 8, 2021, 09:33 PM »
I did exactly this a few months ago. I had debated getting rid of either Hasbro figures or LEGO for a good 2-3 years, and ultimately decided to sell the LEGO since it was taking up so much more space. It didn't help that the last 5 or so years of LEGO releases have been pretty boring; the same rehashed ships and speeders, all built mostly the same way with nothing really new or innovative in the designs.

I started selling off all of my boxed stuff a few months ago, and made a pretty penny; enough to fund an experimental treatment for an illness diagnosed cat I adopted (something called FIP which is basically a cat version of Covid). However, while moving last year, I had to open about half of my collection to save space and fit everything into two storage bins. I left the pieces in their sealed bags, but I'm now having to go through and sort everything out, find instructions and sticker sheets, match it all together... it's a mess!

I've sold everything via Craigslist. I was lucky enough to find a guy who operates an online LEGO store, and he buys stuff in bulk. There's likely something similar in your area; just have to have a bit of patience. Know that people are always looking for bargains, so I had to sell a lot of stuff for far less than it was worth, but still far more than what I paid.

I am keeping a few select sets, like the 1960s Batcave and my UCS Slave I. My dream is to eventually sell everything I want to off, and then get the $800 UCS Millennium Falcon and display that with the Slave I.

Went to Target to get ice and spotted the entire Archive wave. Tried to buy them all but was denied because of the street date. Self checkout manager was really rude about it, trying to imply that I snuck into the back and stole them. Whatever. Literally the first new Star Wars merchandise this Target has had in ages, and they won’t sell it. Guess that cements that I need to buy everything online from now on.

Dorkside Toys charged my card and shipped out my preorder of Moff Gideon, Greef Karga, and Kuiil.

Hall of Justice / Re: Batman TAS / New Adventures 6 Inch Line!

I too always hoped to get things like the Batcave, Batwing, and Batmobile...but got priced out. I don’t really have room to display them properly anyways, but that is true of many things.

I did buy the Batmobile, and it's an awesome display piece, but it is so big. I have it on the top of a bookshelf, and it takes up the entire width. I can't imagine owning anything else from the line though. I did see the Batcave at one of my local comic shops a year or two ago, and the box is HUGE. Like the size of 3 or 4 smaller flatscreen TV boxes. I have no clue where I would put that, even if I did own a house. I think the Batcycle they made is pretty small, maybe the size of that Black Series Rey's Speeder.

My biggest misses/regrets from this line are probably Bullock, R'as Al Ghul, Gray Ghost, Ventriloquist, Clayface, and Scarecrow (had a chance to get this one for like $20 at a Think Geek and passed... stupid!). Also those Batman and Joker expression packs. And the Batman Beyond and Superman TAS set. So a lot of good stuff haha. I don't think I ever picked up the Tim Drake Robin from TNBA either, but I was mainly focusing on the BTAS portion of the line.

I bought a Killer Croc figure from BBTS recently, and it arrived today. It’s a bit bittersweet because it is likely the last BTAS figure I’ll ever buy. I really enjoyed this line while it lasted, and it basically got me into 6 inch collecting, so I’ll always have a soft spot for it. I have a few figures left to track down, but the aftermarket prices for these are insane. I don’t even want to think about how expensive stuff like the Batcave playset with Alfred sell for. I don’t have a complete collection, but I’m extremely happy with having 80-90% of what I wanted from this line.

I’m spending some time trying to play catch up lately. Ordered some stuff from BBTS, including the #83 Battle Droid, which arrived today.

Thought we had a thread on it but couldn't find one, but my Jar Jar Binks preorder has shipped from Entertainment Earth.

Arrived today. Awesome figure!

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?

I kind of don't care about what product we're getting, I just want to hear Hasbro offer an explanation as to why they can't get product into stores. Like it's one thing to not have stock in the middle of a global pandemic, but we've had so many exclusives over the last few years that never even saw the light because the lone case a store received was sold out of the backroom. Then you can't even order the store exclusives online. The new GI Joe line has had a pathetic retail rollout. Star Wars, Power Rangers, and Marvel sections are completely empty. Meanwhile, Mattel toyline pegs are always jam packed.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2021: What Are You Collecting?
« on: January 9, 2021, 10:46 PM »
Mine is very short this year due to a number of things. I've actually started selling off a bunch of stuff, mostly Star Wars 3.75 inch, and LEGO. I've been saying I'll do it for years, and it sucks, but feels pretty good to not have as much stuff.

Star Wars: Black Series OT and PT figures, or anything else that tickles my fancy. Also the Bandai SH Figuarts figures from Japan (I have like 95% of the line although Hasbro has been blowing them out of the water the last few years).

Marvel: Marvel Legends, but I only buy comic book based Spider-Man figures, so anything they release for that. I also am trying to grab all of the 90s X-Men, and have a small handful; need to track down some older stuff like Beast and Professor X. I am also heavy into the Medicom MAFEX comic line from Japan, that has released a few Marvel and DC figures. Again, really just anything based on comic Spider-Man or 90s X-Men.

And that's it, I think. The other line I collected, DC Collectibles Batman: The Animated Series, has ended with the shuttering of DC Collectibles. And I've basically been both priced and spaced out of LEGO. My main goal for the year will be to sell stuff off and get rid of a lot of clutter; I moved twice in 2020 and it really put into perspective just how much physical stuff I actually own.

Congrats to Scott on the win!

I am definitely interested in staying on if the league continues.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Mandalorian - Season 2 (SPOILERS possible)
« on: December 30, 2020, 12:51 PM »
Late to the party and haven't commented much, but holy cow, this whole season. And that finale! I didn't believe they'd actually have the guts to get Luke out there, and still didn't believe until I saw the lightsaber handle followed by the hood removal. I'm not ashamed to say I shed a tear or two of joy/excitement. THAT is the Luke we all wanted in the Sequel Trilogy, just wrecking shop for a few minutes and doing all sorts of cool Force stuff.

For some reason all of my friends seem to think Gideon killed Bo Katan, but I thought she was clearly shown at the end? If anything, I'd guess that the Sasha Banks Mandalorian was killed.

I'm really intrigued to see where they go for Season 3. There's no way Disney gives up on Grogu just yet. So I'm wondering if we get a time lapse, or build through the season to some sort of reunion.

Just picked my Ahsoka Clone from the hold location. Thank goodness I’m finally done with this nightmare of a wave.
