Are these the "Hot Toys" smaller scale figures?

They look a lot like the Microman versions, but still seem very detailed... I might have to find some of them.

CHEWIE, you are a valuable asset to this hobby and you are a major factor in why the JD.com forums are the best place to come for Star Wars customizing.  To hell with the malcontents.

EDIT: Read the other thread on the issue, deleted my comments about the e-mail since the issue seems finished.

Great work on that Hovertank CHEWIE, the weathering and everything is perfect.  It looks real!

I also like that Scout/AT-RT Driver Trooper, nice and simple design wise but very well executed.
Same thing goes for those Urban Troopers, they could have definitely been in ROTS.

The Junker Droids are cool, especially the one on the left of the picture.

The facial paint apps on Jedi Master Roulis Tellsten are fantastic.  It's hard to get that much detail on such a small scale, but you did it!

Great update!

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Painting Facial Hair?

I never thought of the charcoal, if I seal it with Testors Dull Cote will that prevent it from smudging after I apply it to the head?
Incidentally, the facial hair is for a custom mini-bust that I'm making (Jango w/out helmet), but these techniques sound like they're good for both 1:18 and 1:6 scale customs.
Thanks for the replies!

Thanks for the replies guys!
Hemble - that's a great tutorial, I think I'll give it a try.  I've got lots of old brushes to sacrifice...  ;)

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Painting Facial Hair?
« on: March 31, 2006, 05:06 PM »
How do you guys go about painting facial hair on a custom?  I've been trying to paint the 5 o'clock shadow on a Jango Fett mini-bust that I'm working on, but it comes out looking like he has grey dirt on his face.  I didn't think I needed to sculpt anything because it's just stubble (and the 12" hasbro version was just painted on), but I'm not sure where I'm going wrong.  Should I try to add some flecks of black and light grey to give it more depth?
Sorry for the lack of pics, I'll try to take some this weekend.  I figured I'd try to see if there were any techniques out there for painting facial hair.

Smarty - I think this custom came out very well!  I really like the use of softgoods and the head looks a lot more organic than his droid counterpart.  Nice work  :)

Wow, great headsculpts Ben!  The minute details are really captured well, I can't wait to see what else you will be doing!

I think some sort of "neutral" alien headsculpts, like a Klatoonian (Barada without his bandana), or a neutral Nikto head sculpt, etc would make for great army (or would it be "thug") building.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Neck Post Conversion Kit
« on: March 31, 2006, 01:40 PM »
I think that's a fantastic idea.  I was trying to figure out how to "make" neck ball-joints from scratch, but the best that I could come up with would be to use ball-end pins and some green stuff putty.  I'm not sure how that would work in practice, so an actual "kit" would be very helpful.
