I agree Jeff, these just continue to be my absolute favorite Star Wars figures.  I really hope that these aren't as impossible to find in the stores as was originally thought.

The first reviews of Spidey 2 are starting to come in, and are sounding very positive.  Although it is hard sometimes to take much stock in what "critics" say about movies, I do like to hear when they actually like some of my favorite movies.  You can listen to Ebert and Roeper's review of the film HERE, they both gave it "two thumbs WAY up", with Ebert going as far to say it is the best superhero movie of all time.  Good to hear some positive reviews for Spidey, I can't wait to see this next week.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: NBA Offseason

Sounds like there could be another dynamic duo in the making.  ESPN is reporting that T-Mac is close to joining Yao in Houston

The trade runs down like this (assuming none of these players are selected in tonight's expansion draft):

Houston Gets:
Tracy McGrady
Juwan Howard

Orlando Gets:
Steve Francis
Cuttino Mobley
Kelvin Cato

It is possible that Tyronn Lue and Andrew DeClercq could be thrown in the deal as well.  Pretty big news if this would hold true.  Another one of the NBA's superstars headed to the Western Conference.

Along the same Spidey 2 lines.....have any of you broke down and picked up the 18" superduperultrafantastic-poseable Spider-Man 2 Spidey?  I have seen (several) of these staring back at me at our trips to Wal-Mart and Target, and have been really tempted to pick it up.  It looks like it is around $20-$21 around here, and for what it is, that's not too bad of a deal.  Now I normally wouldn't want to buy a figure this HUGE, but since it is Spidey, I have been thinking about it.  The reviews I have read online are very solid, but I was just wondering if any of you have (or thought about) picked this up.

I don't know if anyone noticed, but there were a few little tidbits in the parting shots of Adam's Q and A over at Galactic Hunter today...here's a little bit, visit GH.com for more:

Guess what? I got some answers from the guys upstairs about my questions!

Silver exclusive figures are going to be phased out. Apparently after the Sandtrooper, we probably won't see any for a while, if ever. I dug the concept, but am glad to see it retired before it grew too much. Of course, this begs the question, what kind of goodness will we see for future con exclusives? (I'm throwing my vote to an OTC repackaged Ephant Mon at some point. Which would most certainly rock.)

There are only 38 figures in the Original Trilogy Collection-- the lineup we've seen is finalized. However, there will be more figures before Episode III and with any luck, we might see a preview during the Summer convention season! So, thanks for the info to the kind soul who wrote in to keep us updated.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure what this means as far as the OTC packaging, if it will be totally done with at the end of this 38 figure run, or if it will run until Episode III.  Hopefully they keep the same style around anyways, until movie product hits.  Anyways, just thought I'd post it here to see anyone's thoughts.

Other Collectibles / Re: Playskool Line/Galactic Heroes Thread
« on: June 21, 2004, 10:49 AM »
GH has some shots up of the "New Hope" wave of Galactic Heroes coming out later this year.  You can see both packaged and loose shots.  Even though I do open them, the packaging does look kind of spiffy for the two packs.  It also looks like the Chewie is a little different from the original version (this one has a different gun, as well as teeth showing), so it looks like all the "re-released" figures (Chewie, R2, and 3PO) are different in some way.  The Vader still looks the same to me though.

This is a line I really hope has some legs and can continue for awhile.  I've been torn on Kubricks since I already have some of these and they are somewhat "mini figures" themselves.  However, the Kubrick line does seem to be more popular, probably has more of a future, and gets a lot more discussion around here at JD :).  Anyways, you can check out the pics of the Galactic Heroes line here:

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Hyperspace BTH reveals OT set
« on: June 21, 2004, 10:33 AM »
Yeah, this was a nice BTH image.  The more they incorporate things like this from the OT, the more I enjoy watching the prequels.  Although I wouldn't ever enjoy them as much as the OT (for a variety of reasons), it seems like with each passing movie, the more elements that are Original Trilogy-ish, the more I like it.  The Fetts in the last one, as well as the beginnings of the Stormtroopers (with the Clonetroopers), really made AOTC better than TPM to me, and now with officers, destroyers, as well as characters like Chewie, Mon Mothma, and of course Vader making appearances, it starts bridging it closer and closer.

I have only picked up the "super-poseable" Spidey from the Spider-Man 2 line so far, but after reading THIS REVIEW over at mwctoys.com, I'm awfully tempted to get this magnet version just for fun.  Some of those poses look pretty cool, the magnets must be fairly strong.  Has anyone picked this figure up yet?

Middle Earth / Re: LOTR Trilogy Figures
« on: June 21, 2004, 08:44 AM »
Well, I was able to sneak another LOTR figure in this weekend, while we were out shopping for some house stuff.  I don't think my wife minds too much as long as it is just one here or there.  Taken from many of your suggestions, I picked up Pippin in Armor.  I haven't had a chance to open it up yet, but I already want to get the Merry in Armor as well now.  Just doesn't seem right to have one and not the other  ;).  That figure should be next on my list if I see him.  Then its on to Gimli, Aragorn, Frodo, and Sam, but I might be waiting to see on some of those to see if a better figure is coming up.  Thanks again for the suggestions everyone, it is helping a lot.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: do you have too much stuff?
« on: June 21, 2004, 08:37 AM »
When we moved recently, and I spent the time packing and unpacking my stuff, I kind of got to feeling a little "overwhelmed" at times too.  I don't have nearly the collections of many of the people here, and I have a very select few carded figures (which are packed away), so I'm sure I don't have the space issues that many others have.  I guess I just don't like my collection to start to look "cluttered" or to look like I'm really jamming figures on the shelves either.  Right now I don't have everything on display either, but would like to eventually.  I have my modern, loose figures on some shelving that I put up in our office closet.  I took the closet door off, and it works pretty well to display them in there.  A few figures (old POTF2, and/or crappy Episode I or Saga figures) have gotten packed away, and I still don't have an area to display my vintage loose collection on (but I'm not done with that anyways, so it is ok).  I have my Unleashed displayed on the top of my desk here, but would like to eventually get some "floating" shelves to put them on around the room.  I also have another bookshelf that currently holds the B-Wing (that thing is tough to fit anywhere), Clone Wars Animated figs, Playskool Star Wars, the 25th Anniversary sets (and Trash Compactor Screen Scene), the two Target glass sets I have right now, and some prequel ships (Anakin/Zam speeder, Jedi Starfighter, Jango's Slave I).  I also have my other, smaller collections on these shelves too (LOTR, Marvel Stuff).

I've started to consider being a little more selective with my collecting, just so I don't get too overwhelmed in here, or to figure out some more shelving.  There is some great Star Wars stuff coming up (VOTC collection, Galactic Heroes, new Falcon, and a "few" new OTC figures), a few more LOTR and Marvel Legends figures I'd like to get, as well as a growing Spider-Man collection that I'm really getting into.  Plus, now I'm starting to get interested in the SW Kubricks as well, so that won't help any (but at least they are smaller).  Anyways, I know sometimes I wonder if I have "too much stuff", and I think sometimes I look over a few things here and there and wonder if I really needed them or not.  Sometimes it was some completist-ism coming over me, other times it was just that I hadn't seen anything new for a long time in stores, and settled.  I have considered at time collecting only OT items, to keep it more limited, but when a new movie comes around, I just end up buying more than I should anyways.  Plus, I do like to at least have some of the key characters from the prequels.  Anyways, I do know what you are saying, I sometimes feel like I have "too much stuff" as well.  As long as you are happy with your collection, and can figure out some way to enjoy it (displaying it, changing it out every few weeks/months, or buying a bigger house  :P)

Kubricks / Series 2
« on: June 18, 2004, 11:40 PM »
Ok, I've really been holding off on these since they are tougher to get here in the US, but after weeks and months of reading through the Kubrick thread here, and now seeing these pictures, I'm really getting tempted.  I realize that I'm too far behind (and it would be too expensive) to totally "catch up", but I wouldn't mind starting to get a few of these (without the chases obviously).  Other than the early bird set and chase figures, can most of these be bought at somewhat reasonable prices?  I still might just try to hunt me down the first Han that was released, just to see what they are like.  If nothing else, he's my favorite character, and it doesn't hurt to have one (or does it....addiction rising.. ;)).  Great pics by the way, this line sure looks spiffy.
