The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (SPOILERS)
« on: February 3, 2020, 11:57 AM »
This one bit isn't really related to TROS, but this detail came out in the Visual Dictionary for The Rise Of Skywalker about a major location in The Force Awakens.  Ready for it?

Starkiller Base was built on the planet ILUM!  The planet appeared first in the Clone Wars microseries, and again in The Clone Wars animated series.  Then it turned up in the 'Ahsoka' novel, where she discovered that the Empire was strip mining the planet.  And the First Order followed in the footsteps of the Empire, building Starkiller Base there because of all of the kyber crystal deposits within the planet.

Nice work!

On another note I'm discovering OT circumstances that connect to ROS. I have never applied any scrutiny to the fact that Vader/Anakin didn't dissipate from the armor yet his force ghost is present 6-8 hours later. So now we have Leia, who passes only to disappear beneath her shroud after Ben passes. So I guess that lines up.

Matt (Jedi Moses) also pointed out that the Palaptine tells Luke to "strike me down". I've never considered that Palpatine might have been ok with that. Some might argue against the direction of the conclusion of ROS, but to me its an interesting question about what Palpatine had originally planned. I'm neither for or against individuals becoming all the sith or all the jedi, but its interesting.

Nice, I grabbed two of those Kmart packs. I'm glad I'm top of something legendary. I missed out on Kaink from the Boarding party set. That set is way too expensive now.

Also, Im glad they made Chubbray. I totally knew the character when I got Kevin Johnson's autograph at celebration.

The Vintage Collection / Re: An Ewok Update Coming... Who?
« on: January 28, 2020, 03:14 PM »
As for Wompus, this is the only site I've seen him mentioned on - so I am wondering if he is even on Hasbros radar - is there a wiki page for him?  I googled his name and only found him mentioned on JD...

"Wompus" goes back a long time here...

and finally..
10.  "Ewok Warrior" - Ewok Village

Take that last one and repaint/re-hash him 4 times as follows:

A) brown/tan with short spear
B) gray/black with 'rock-on-a-stick' club
C) reddish-brown with bow/quiver
D) dark brown with long spear

Just like this:

Call them Lumat, Romba, Warok, Wompus, or whatever the heck you want just give me some more Ewoks!

He's the Ewok with the gray/black fur, green hood and "rock-on-stick" weapon. Second from left in the pic above.

He may have some sort of proper LFL name, but I have no idea what it is, so I named him Wompus.  7 years later, he still doesn't have a figure.  I think we should change that... though I know fully well they won't call him Wompus if/when he makes it out.  (He'll always be Wompus to me.)

And yes, he is on Hasbro's radar.  He's been on the JD Wishlist many, many years now and I personally have had a few conversations with Hasbro about him at past Toy Fairs. They know who he is... I made sure of that. ;)

How far do I have to go back to learn about the name Wompus?

...isn't done, but guess what I found!?  :)

I was cleaning out storage buildings I have for a family sale we were going to have, and wouldn't you know it, I saved a "Robin Hood Prince of Thieves" Battle Wagon, and it's 99% complete, only missing the "hook" piece to the catapult.

I'm going to give it a paintjob since, even with a box and almost complete, these are apparantly worthless.  I'll make it my own Ewok wagon since that was its birth in the first place, but with a good paintjob I think it'll be a billion times cooler, even lacking the big skull.

Plus, I really feel as though Ewoks have a ****** display set-up and I now have a pretty sizable army of furballs between hood swapping, a little minor repainting, weapon swapping, etc.  It's really easy these days to make a decent army of these guys!  If only there were Wompus, right?  Right.

So yeah, something for them to ride into battle (without any clear means of it moving itself).  Yeah, it'll basically just be a big way to display them without having an entire Ewok Village playset out there (I have that too, but yeah, it's a spacehog for figure displaying).

Are you talking about a wampa, wampus cat, or something else?

Man, you can never tell what will start a popular thread.  :D

I did try straight acetone on the underside of an a-wing... no good. On another note.. I wonder if acetone can be dilluted enough to be usable.

After percolating on it a little bit, I still don’t get Palapatines whole game plan. Originally he wants to bring Rey from Jakku to Exogol, ok. Then Snoke gets a hold of her and seems like he wants to kill her, or at least have Kylo Ren do it. Then Palpatine tells Kylo to kill her too. Then when she shows up he’s all like, oh I wanted you here the whole time, huh?

Was he just lying to Rey? Was he hoping Rey would kill Kylo or something? Why not just tell him, bring her to me?

Obviously having them both there worked out well for him, at first, but he had no idea that was going to happen it seemed clear.

Don’t get the going back and forth on kidnapping/killing her.

I was talking with a friend about this.  His opinion (which I agree with) is that Palpatine has played out both sides as long as we've known him.  Dating back to the prequels, he's setting up back-up plans and multiple cross purpose strategies to keep several options open to him.  Why try to have Padme killed if he needs her to tempt Anakin?  He's got plans inside of plans inside of plans.  If Rey dies, he makes Ben his apprentice. If Ben dies, he turns Rey. He's better off with one of them dead, so why not play them against each other.  As an added bonus, whoever survived would have proven themselves to be the stronger candidate.

Maybe a sith lord is the opposite of a good parent.  Making everything into Mortal Kombat and encouraging everyone to fight and get pissed off is just what they do.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Mandalorian (SPOILERS possible)

I thought we saw the Whills in the last season of The Clone Wars cartoon when Yoda went on his spiritual journey to turn into a force ghost.

Although the child is still a baby, he's 50 years old, he's got some rudimentary use in the force and it guides his instincts, but he definitely uses it like someone who is untrained....even though he is fairly strong in the force.

I had to go back and see this episode. The priestesses are not the Whills. At least not completely. It doesnt men thay might not have originally been Whills.

I took some time and cracked open all my ROTS 3.75" and 6" figures, and there really aren't too many of them.

I'm not sure if the Sith Troopers were originally going to have a larger role, but I got a little annoyed opening these figures (got the deluxe versions) with all their extra weird weapons (?).  I'm the sucker for paying the extra cash, but as far as I can tell none of these extra weapons were in the movie in any way.

The figures themselves were great, but if you haven't already bought them I would opt for the cheaper, non accessorized versions.

There should be a parody where the sith troopers have to go out onto the hull of the destroyer with their red sith yard work accessories to clean up after the space horse invasion.

Hmm, so no ROS Revell stuff? I'm bummed. I'm not a real model builder so I have appreciated the revell kits that look great, have paint, and have lights and sounds to boot.

I would have appreciated some of this stuff.

Night Buzzard - Knights of Ren ship
Ochee's ship
FO walker on Kijimi
Random fleet ships (Meson Martinet?!?)

Is there any example in Legends where a Sith apprentice became the Sith Master without killing their master?

I would say the closest I can think of is Darth Vectivus... he died surrounded by family and friends

 :o :o :o
Surrounded by family and friends? What kind of sith lord is that?

The other thing I want to know about is Snoke.  I could have sworn I read something post TFA that stated that Snoke had been around before Palpatine became Chancellor.  That is certainly still a possibility, but I would like to see where he came from and how Palpatine used him.

Yeah, it was stated somwhere in canon that Palpatine knew of Snoke and was unconcerned for some reason.

Also, Leia and Han have been dropping Snoke's name like everyone knows about him.

Oh boy. Here we go.

I definitely wanted Luke to visit or haunt Ren a little bit. A lot of the rest of this sounds really bad. Fixing Ren's face with smelted Mandalorian armor? Who let the 13 year old fan boy write a script? I wonder if they meant fixing Ren's helmet.

LEGO / Re: Recent Acquisitions
« on: January 14, 2020, 02:35 PM »
How reliable is LEGO's history on Star Wars details? The ROS Y-wing set with Zorii contains a droid that looks like one of these two in this set, but the box lists a generic name.
https://jedibusiness.com/images/actionFigures/Disney/hires/Droid-Factory-4-Pack-Tros-1.jpg
The ROS visual guide lists these both as counterpart droids in the resistance, which doesn't fit with a droid Zorii had on Kijimi.

Maybe LEGO took a wild stab. Maybe the visual guide messed up. Maybe I'm nerding out too much. Either way... do LEGO sets have a good history of accuracy with star wars characters in their sets?

I'm assuming the normal Mando armor is not Beskar and that Beskar is very rare.  I'm assuming the Mando armorer does not have a large inventory of Beskar that she can hand out.

I got the sense that the Beskar that The Mandalorian got as a payment was highly unusual.

That's what I thought too. Heavy-Favreau Mando seemed jealous rather than just upset that it was imperial currency an/or stolen from Mandalore.

I finally have an answer thanks to Resistance.
