Oh ****! I missed famine on tv, and I had to sit and watch the Sox lose in a bar with a bunch of Yankees fans. What a crappy night.

Wow! That's really cool of them!

I had mostly good transactions with them, with the exception of one time. The thing that worried me was that was when everyone was having problems all at once, and the rumor was that it was some scam. They refunded my money though, so there weren't any real problems.

I tried them again for the VOTC ROTJ wave and was very impressed with them. I'll definitely buy from them again.

My mom tried her best to pick me up some Star Wars figures last Christmas. She was able to find the CW Assaj and Mace Windu (which I never saw in stores), but then I opened the other figures and discovered that I was now the shameful owner of a set of "force flippers" and "Jango with snap-on armor". The worst thing is that some collector told her to pick them up, probably to clear the pegs.

I guess I'll use them for custom fodder, but the hard part is pretending like it was a cool gift. Now I send her direct links to GH images of figures I want.

They should have taken the rereleased Chewie and Han, and instead given us a rerelease of the McQuarrie Stormtrooper, or just packed the case with army builders rather than having 1 of each. It also would have been nice to have more than 2 of the new figures, since the repacks in that case are going to clog the pegs.

I've never really paid attention to which figures were "rare", so when I opened my 3PO, I realized that I didn't care for it very much. I guess its a combination of the pose and the head that turned me off to it. But hey, some people obviously like the figure enough to spend over a hundred dollars on it.

Good luck to you guys who are looking for it still. I traded mine for a figure I like alot more—Vader!

Why would anyone want to pay more money for a figure that's screwed-up?

Jocasta's Reading Room / Heir To The Empire series...
« on: October 13, 2004, 03:10 PM »
I read Heir To The Empire and Dark Force Rising back when they were first released (early nineties?), but I never got around to reading The Last Command. I recently dusted off my copy of Heir To The Empire and burned through it. Now I'm about 1/4 of the way through Dark Force Rising, and I even ventured off to the bookstore to pick up The Last Command. I have to say that I'm enjoying these books.

I've read a bit of the EU stuff, and to be honest, alot of it makes my stomach turn. IG-88 in the Death Star 2? Boba Fett as Dengar's best man? Xizor responsible for the Owen and Beru's deaths? Borg-like aliens trying to take over the galaxy? Ughhh. I've read alot of the comics, and I generally like them. Some of them I don't like, but for the most part, they're pretty cool.

What I like about the Thrawn trilogy (I think its referred to as that?) is that these books are built off the movies themselves. My problem with alot of the newer EU, is that its built off stories that are kind of poor to begin with. This makes them a bit too convuluted for my taste.

Anyways, my question is to all you guys who are very familiar with the EU material. I noticed there's a couple books at the store which seemed to take place directly after these. I think they were Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future. Are these a 2-part series? Would someone who doesn't like to dive too deeply into the EU enjoy these?

Also, I'd like to hear what the rest of you have to say about these books.

I've had good times both times I went (TPM & AOTC), so I figure why not?

Last time I was able to grab all the figures I wanted with no problem. But you're right Jared, it really isn't a good idea for carded collectors. Its definitely a loose collector's dream though.

The SA Clone is the most needed reship in my opinion.

I'd love to have a wave of figures that don't have decent versions before the ROTS stuff hits. Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme all need good, normal, non-action-featured versions.

The Lars family set would also kick ass, as would new sculpts of the old Owen and Beru.

Oh, now I get what you meant.  ;D

I like the pic of him and Leia Boussh, but he used the vintage, which really contrasts with the new Chewie. It also makes me want a new Boussh Leia so much more than I already do.

Another figure that really needs a redo is Endor Han. Now that we have this kick ass Chewbacca, its almost tragic to pose him next to that ****-sandwich SAGA Han endor.
