Another awesome chapter!

Here's my miniscule gripe:  The sentence about Lord Gorn hoping to "replace Lord Maul" is just slightly misleading, I initially thought this scene was taking place prior to Maul's death in TPM, as if Maul was still alive and Gorn was hoping to nudge him out of the way.

Minor gripe 2:  I wish you had painted Gorn just a bit, to make him look different than the standard Imperial guard.  The face is cool and the Imperial Guard armor is awesome for customizing, but a little painting to differentiate him from the guards would have been nice.

Now, that said, this is another great, great chapter.  I really love where this story is going and I hope to see a big smackdown between Punio and Gorn.

I really just love, love, love the re-animated Plageuis storyline, it's very clever and not something I've seen before in photonovels or in SW EU (not that I actually read any of it).  But it's very clever and imaginative nevertheless.

And, of course, your dioramas are just mind-blowing, especially that kick-ass council scene!

The fight scene was also damn cool!  Well-done.

I was very glad to see a scene of the Council actually discussing the Sith threat and I think we should have seen a similar scene in AOTC, since that movie almost makes it seem like the Council has all but forgotten about the Sith, but in ROTS there are numerous references to the "Sith we've been looking for," even though they don't seem very interested or concerned in AOTC at all.

Very nice customs and I really like your original characters, you do a very economical job of establishing them in short scenes.  Punio was great, but I like Ty-Ri and Gorn a great deal and they feel very fleshed-out already.

I also like the custom ship!  Is that a GI Joe plane?  I think I saw that recently in a store and thought that it would make a great custom SW fighter.  Nice job!  Nice painting and use of a droid head.

I am not sure about Aleena, though.  I wish you had made her a little more sympathetic, not just a whiny spoiled girl.  She comes across like Stacy, Wayne's clingy ex-girlfriend from "Wayne's World", but she's not very interesting or sympathetic.  I think exploring the dynamic of a young Jedi torn between duty and love is rife with dramatic potential, so try to make Aleena a little more compelling, not just a needy clinger.

Anyway, that said, this is still first-rate, kick ass material!  Keep up the amazing work!

WOW!  So glad to see an update!  This chapter is ACES across the board!!

The sets are simply FANTASTIC.  I can recognize some of the parts and designs, but not others.  It's all EXTREMELY creative.  Wow, I'm simply awed by the top notch production values of this series.  Beyond impressive.  These environments add so much, they're so imaginative and realistic.

The snow effects are also terrific and all of the elements of the visuals are perfect.  I also love the comic book style with word balloons.  Very well done.  Photoshopping effects are first rate.

And as for the story itself, I am loving this.  Jyas is a great character and even with a short chapter and minimal dialogue, you have created a well-rounded and very compelling character.  Superb.  This is a great chapter and a wonderfully intriguing set-up for the events to follow.

I love, love, love this and hope to see another update at least relatively soon.  Amazing job.

Wow, this is the most awesome day!!!  An update of "Republic Intelligence", "Duel of the Sith" and some comic strangeness from Phoenix.

Terrific work!  I will try to post detailed comments soon, but these chapters RULE!

Awesome update!!!

I don't have time for an appropriately detailed review and for that, I'm sorry.

But I love this story and I loved the new chapter.  that briefing scene is just friggin' fantastic.

I'll try to write more soon.  But your stories never cease to amaze.  The dialogue is excellent, perfectly in character, and I can't wait to see us get back into the action (not that I don't like the character/plot driven chapters like this, too)

Awesome, awesome, awesome!

I've been lurking on the boards for a while, not posting much, but let me just say how god damned AWESOME all of this stuff is!  Wow!!!

The hulking ephant mon guy (forget the name, sorry) is absolutely amazing.  TERRIFIC paint job.  That is one scary mo fo, that's for sure!  Wow.

And the Ash jedi is wonderful, too.  Great beard, he really does look like a world-weary, but cool-as-hell jedi.

And the diorama...well, i remember the in-progress pics and this is probably the slickest, cleanest, nicest Jedi council dio i've seen.  And your digital effects are flawless and gorgeous.

WOW, that photonovel preview is incredible!!! I'm running out of superlatives.  What a cool custom, the Red Guard-based guy.  Amazing action shot, it's just a gorgeous image and you've got me REALLY intrigued to see this story!

Hurry back from across the pond and get this sucker on line!!!

I'm using a POTF2 monkey leia torso.  Those Veers/Ozzle arms are too big, alas.

Thanks, though.

Ouch Chewie, please tell me you didint order the Lucas set just for fodder??

Are you kidding?  The Lucas set is good ONLY for Fodder!  Baron is terrific for just about any high-falutin' senator, diplomat, noble, whatever.....as are the daughters.

I just bought a couple of 'em loose on ebay, which was slightly cheaper than getting the whole set (since I don't need Jett).

It's surprising how hard it is to find suitable ones that look like part of a uniform jacket w/ bare hands -- that's because no femme that's been released in the SW line so far really has them.

It is very hard.  I will probably use either POTF2 Mon Mothma arms (slightly wrinkly) or POTF2 Leia Collection Bespin Gown arms (which are a little on the skinny side and might not look quite right for an imperial uniform.)  It's either that or use Padme arms with the silver bands.  Gah!  Curse Hasbro's lack of good sleeved female arms!

Photonovels and Movies / Re: CRISIS ON ABRIDON (final edition)

Though the story is exactly the same, it does seem like there are some fairly substantial changes to the dialogue.  That's not a complaint, though.  And my memory isn't as good as I had though, given my recent gaffe about Trigg Fudda.

As expected, I have mixed feelings about this.  There is no doubt that this looks very, very good.  It's extremely well produced, the customs, effects, dioramas and images are all wonderful.

but I still prefer the "classic" version for purely sentimental reasons.  That was the first story I saw Chewie make, the one I fell in love with and I have an affection for it, despite the somewhat clunky production values.  And I have enjoyed watching Chewie's talents EXPLODE over the past two years, from the promising beginnings of the original CRISIS to the current chapter.

At the end of the day, though, i would rather have had a new chapter than an improved version of an old one.  Please tell me you'll be releasing the "original cut" on DVD this fall, Chewie!

Still, this is still the kind of excellent work we have come to expect from Chewie.  It's easy to take for granted how hard these are to make and how much work really goes into them.  It's almost unfair for us to continue to demand such high standards from Chewie, but he never fails to deliver.

Great to see the inaugural custom on your own thread!

Very cool custom, FINDS!  Great choice of parts and I love how versatile the figure is, with the hollowed helmet and two chest boxes!

Very well done and I look forward to seeing more of your great work grace these pages!

Great job, Findswoman!

And Phurby, I look forward to seeing your version, looks great so far!

I finally found an Elizabeth Swann today myself.  Great figure!  And I think the body would be good for some customs if you can rip the jacket off (which is glued to her torso in a few spots, but is otherwise completely separate).

I tried to make a female imperial officer many months ago and stopped because I couldn't find any good arms.  but I think I have finally found a solution, so I may actually enter her in here (even though she won't technically be either Daala or Isard, but my own creation.)  She will, however, share the same Baronness head as Findswoman's version.

Great job, all!

Regarding Jamilla -  That's cool about her appearance.  I definitely like the figure and, yeah, those queens sure do vary their wardrobe/make-up.  I was thinking about using one of those Lucas figures for some kind of female queen or senator, so I'm glad you paved the way with another fine custom.

And Trigg -  Oops!  You're right, you DID use the POTF2 Bib head.  I knew it was different than Mubbas, though, and I just think you should keep the head the same as the original, since you used the newer head for Mubbas and it might get confusing.

But, please, I wasn't trying to "jump all over you" at all!  I love these customs and all of your work, just trying to offer a bit of constructive criticism.   :) :)

223
Nice looking customs, but I have two quick questions -

Why didn't you try to paint Jamilla's face white, with the ceremonial make-up she wears in AOTC (like Padme did).

Also, the original Trigg Fudda had the head of the Jedi twilek from the Clone Wars pack.  Why didn't you re-use that head?  This figure is MUBBAS fudda, not Trigg!

Great stuff, though.  I haven't bought the lucas set yet...it looks like great custom fodder, but pricey at $40!!

Back on topic, COOL image, Chewie.  Even though I'm not in love with Rykrof's new (old) uniform.

Like I said a while back, you should make a "movie poster" image for every chapter!

I think it says something pretty sad about our country when a movie like United 93 comes out and no one goes to see it.

-DD

I think you're being a little hard on people, DD.  I have no intention of seeing this movie, just watching the trailer was very disturbing and I think many people feel the same way.

Doesn't necessarily make them apathetic that they don't want to see a dramatic depiction of one of the most horrible moments in our nation's history, no matter how artfully and respectfully it's done.
