Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS - #57 and beyond
« on: August 23, 2005, 08:30 PM »
I think I might just order two of each of these cases. The mix is good enough that there's one of each new figure per case. The only stinker/catch to this is that the Darth Vader comes x2 in the Collection 1 case. This is really odd to me, why didn't they put in an Anakin like the #28 Sith Eyes variant or something else similar, afterall, he was only Darth Vader in the suit for the last few minutes of the movie. They should also be re-shipping the Red Shocktrooper in the Collection 1 case as well. So my perfect Collection 1 case would be:

1x #6 Shocktrooper
1x #28 Anakin Skywalker w/Sith Eyes Paint Variant
1x #33 Green Clone Commander
2x Commander Gree (EIII #57) (NEW)
2x Commander Bly (EIII #59) (NEW)
1x Wookiee Commando (EIII #58) (NEW)
1x Grievous' Bodyguard #2 (EIII #60) (NEW)
1x Passel Argente (EIII #61) (NEW)
1x Cat Miin (EIII #62) (NEW)
1x Neimodian Commander (EIII #63) (NEW)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS DVD 3-Packs!
« on: August 23, 2005, 08:22 PM »
For me - just like the DVD and Clone Wars packs - these sets will be one of the VERY few items where I only get one of each different pack (instead of my typical two). The figures are identical, I have no need to have a set of 3-packs opened.

I do like the artwork on the package. Thank goodness there isn't anything really "new" about these, otherwise people would probably be more upset about these coming out.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Anyone know the Target DCPI #s?
« on: August 23, 2005, 08:18 PM »
Unfortunately, your mileage may vary when it comes to these DPCI numbers working in your local Target's price scanner. Some of them have blocked the ability to type in a number and have it return valid information.

Other Target stores don't even have the type of scanner you can type a number into or that display the stock-room availability.

I think I'm going to have to really spend some time this weekend trying to get a DPCI barcode generator up and running.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Sam's Club Exclusives?

I will definitely buy these at whatever price they charge, plus the 10% mark-up for not being a member (I refuse to join Sams Club when I'm already a BJ's member).

I'm hoping that the Mustafar Playset will just be packaged with #6 Shocktrooper repaints and the ARC-170 will be packaged with R4-G9 and three gray or black pilots. That way, there won't be any need for me to buy openers of either. Although, the fact that figures are now $6 each and both sets come with four, that means you're really only paying $6 for an ARC-170 or the Mustafar playset. Not a bad deal.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Other Retailers... Check them out!
« on: August 21, 2005, 11:26 AM »
KMart recently came through for me - I'd been going crazy trying to get a MOMC set of the Tarkin wave figures.

My local WalMart got them in, but all of the pieces were banged up. So that took care of my loose ones, but not my MOC ones. I tried ordering for Amazon and that didn't work, I tried ordering from a seller on eBay and got screwed, so to find them at KMart for $6.99 each, I was happy to finally get the ordeal of getting these figures over with.

Picked up 2 Green Clone Commanders, 12 Shocktroopers and a Nemoidian Warror (just to pair up with my other open one)...

At K-Mart I found my MOMC Tarkin, Ask Aak and Meena Tills figures I've been going crazy trying to get.

I think with the exception of the Target Wave 3 Cup w/Figure sets (Vader, Leia, Stormtrooper) and any new BattlePacks that come out (any one except Jedi vs. Sith). I'm all caught up for a change.

Feels good.

This REALLY has been a good week.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: TRU Exclusive Clones!
« on: August 19, 2005, 12:59 PM »
With so many other retailer exclusives shown at Comic Con, for these NOT to appear was an indicator to me that the story was RS bull$hit.

I mean, even if they didn't have the physical paint samples, they could have at least shown them in the slide presentation like they did with the Target Stealth Cammo Clone.

With the options that will be available to allow collectors to get both Shocktroopers and 501st Speical Ops Troopers, these sets were really un-necessary, except for the Utapau Clone design.

I'm a firm believer in the fact that the #6 clone will continue to ship, even throughout the assortments of the final 12 so eventually, even that figure will be easy to get. It's harder right now simply 'cause he comes only 1 per case.

The 501st clones are coming BOTH in the Jedi Temple Assault Battle Pack AND as a repaint of #41 - so if you want to build an 501st army you'll be able to do so.

If I had a choice, I would much rather be limited to these options then get these designed painted on the Deluxe Clone 3-pack statues. The body sculpts on them are pretty bad, especially the standing clone. It's bad enough they made four different versions of that pack, we didn't need three more.

That date stamp alone kind of blows a lot of the talk that it "takes x ammount of time to get y figure to retail" ******** too I think...  I guess some fibbing for public relations was needed?

I'd like both the green and white head variants just for diversity's sake, however I've seen neither at retail yet.  I certainly hope one's not a total biznitch to find though, as I'd like a few of both.

How's that guy look on an RT?  I got a #6 Clone on one and he looks as good (or better) than the pack-in figure does.

With regards to how long it takes, don't forget that there is design time, sculpting time, tooling time, etc...

Sure it may take only a month or two to go from pumping out the product from the molds, packaging it and then shipping it to WallyWorld, but the lead-in time before that was much longer.

This is the BIG reason why the final 12 ROTS figures are ALL repaints, sculpting exists, tooling exists, all they need to do is fire up the assembly lines and they're good to go to have those 12 figures on the shelves by October.

I also wouldn't be surprised if these were rush-shipped from the factory as well. If you recall, end of July, beginning of August was VERY dry SW-wise at a good majority of WalMart's across the country. WM may have told Hasbro "Get us your product NOW" and Hasbro jumped.

Oh - one more thing - the AT-RT Driver fits on the AT-RT vehicle PERFECTLY. I have been tempted to get rid of my pack-in drivers and get two more AT-RT Drivers to replace them since the sculpt and paint ops on the regular figure is of course far superior.

Now if Pilot Obi-Wan only had hip joints like VOTC Luke and the AT-TE Gunner - he would be a PERFECT replacement for the Obi-Wan w/Boga figure!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: August 19, 2005, 12:39 PM »
Grabbed the Sith and Clone sets at WalMart last night.

These two sets are GREAT!

The only complaint I have is that the removeable clone helmets are made from the same soft plastic they've made all removeable clone helmets from. I would prefer that the helmet be more sturdy.

The Darth Maul robe looks ridiculous, but that doesn't matter at all to me, I'm never going to display him with it. The interesting thing about Maul is that they put a plug-hole for a lightsaber on his belt, but didn't make his dual blade lightsaber w/removable blades and a pin to fit that hole.

I looked all around the packaging to make sure I didn't miss the blade-less saber, but it's not in there. Odd.

This has been a great week for SW toy finds!

Earlier in the week I scored the Mustafar Sentry (x3) and more AT-RT Drivers (x4).

Yesterday morning and last night I scored:
2x Shocktrooper
5x Black Jumpsuit Clone Pilots
3x Clone Evolutions Set  :o
2x Sith Evolutions Set  :o

Very good week for me.

Picked up a couple of these tonight - I really like this figure. Nicely detailed, plus it comes with the cool "on fire" Mustafar base - I think this is the only Collection 1 figure to have a base right? I don't consider the 1st R2 and Spinning Yoda figures to have bases, they have stands that support the action features of the figure.

Scored the Mustafar Sentry and some more AT-RT Drivers tonight at my local WalMart.

They had about 20 cases of Col 1 W6R1 and W6R2 - this was looking to be a banner night, but unfortunately, neither of these cases have the clone repaints in them.  >:(

Here's the one that Darth Delicious made using the new ROTS Obi Wan, and the head from the new Jedi vs. Sith 5-pk.

Wow - having a nice AOTC Obi-Wan like this makes (IMHO) the price of buying another figure and a Jedi vs. Sith battle pack JUST FOR THE HEAD, worth it!

See, now to me, this seems like a complete no brainer. Why not just release the Obi-Wan in the Jedi vs. Separatist five pack that's coming out as this combination?

That said, I can't believe I'm going to be buying this thing, as it will make my third JSF of that style (not counting Anakin's), and eighth JSF overall from the prequels. It's times like these that my "If it's in the movies, I'll buy it" credo I established really bites me in the ass. :)

It's times like these my "Buy two of everything, one to keep MIMB/MOMC and one to open" REALLY bites mee in the ass  ;D

Everything after - check! (except the Mustafar sentry)

Everything before - (most definitely) check!

The Tarkin wave itself? NOPE  >:(

I am having the toughest time getting a set of these three figures MOC for my collection.

First I ordered two sets from Amazon and all six figures came beat to heck. I opened one set and then returned the other three to Amazon for a refund.

I just recently bought a set of what was advertised as MOMC (C9+) Tarkin wave figures and the eBay seller was such a retard, even though I asked him to package them up so they would STAY that way, his packaging method was to wrap all three figures together in newspaper and then throw them into a box with no other protective shipping materials (bubble, peanuts, foam, etc...). Now he's got the nerve to start give me a hard time about it.  >:(

Anyway, my choices are either (a) try another eBay dealer or (b) try another online retailer and just suck up the case or something for three measly figures.

It would be AWESOME if Hasbro Toy Shop had them in stock and I could just order them from them directly. ARE YOU READING THIS HASBRO?!?!?!

This wave is shipping with the Zett/Antilles/Utapau Warrior wave in one of the variation Col 2, Wave 5 case ratios, but none of those cases I've seen had the Tarkin wave figures in it.
