Well - I almost found them this morning. I did see the force battler turds but didn't get them because I'm not getting that line.

I heard the guy in the automotive section complaining that before the store opened the entire aisle was CLOGGED with toys so the crotchety jerk made the overnight crew put stuff back into the back room. I can only imagine that since I found one pallet with the Force Battlers that the other pallets were EPIII stuff.

I'm going back there late tonight and early tomorrow morning to see if by some miracle those pallets come back out...

Well I opened the first Obi Wan and Anakin - glad I did.  I love the Anakin figure.

I've got a Chewbacca too - not as bad as I thought it might be, but a far cry from the VOTC one.

 :P
I opened Ani and Obi :-\ Wish I hadn't. The action feature pretty much ruins any sort of poseability these things had and if that weren't enough, the useless elbow articulation on the left arm ruins it completely. Blech.

Just out of curiosity - have either of you guys tried to put our two heroes behind the wheel of their respective starfighters?

For me, I'll be extremely disappointed if the only way I get a Anakin pilot figure is to customize one and that I'll have to wait until figure #56 comes out to get the Obi-Wan that can fly his own ship!

I'm definitely getting anxious myself....

I too have the three vehicles - Grevious' Wheelbike, Obi-Wan's Starfighter and Tri-Droid Fighter.

Believe it or not - my biggest hope right now is to stumble across simply the first Anakin and Obi-Wan figures - so I can open them and put them behind the controls of their starfighters. That's really all the big kid in me feels the need to have THIS MINUTE.

Sure I'd love to find even more stuff than that. But I already have to go out on April 2nd to grab the Target and TRU exclusive gifts with purchase figures.

*sigh*

I hope that they put out a paint-op variant of the SA CloneTrooper that looks like this:

I love the blue stripes on these clones for some reason.

That's a good point, I wonder what the selection will be like on April 2nd.  Still no leaks here, and actually no Star Wars on the pegs at all at Wal-Mart, but I did notice yesterday that the barren pegs had a price change from $5.88 to $5.24, which is just fine with me.  Every little bit I can save ;).  Hopefully those prices stay there (or lower) from this point on.

I too noticed this in THREE WalMarts in NJ - the pegs now have the tags that read "EP3 Movie Figure" and the price is $5.24. At one WalMart I got someone to actually HELP me and they scanned the sticker's barcode - unfortunately the gun didn't indicate if they were getting any in or not. I'm going to hit up a different one on the way home and see if Customer Service will check for me.

The $5.24 price tag is nice - definitely going to be where I pick up as many figs as possible come April 2nd.

The complete picture of all 56 is a nice treat for us collectors from the Insider.

I can't wait until mine comes in the mail - I'm going to drool over it for hours!

Some of the later figures in this line are just absolutely FANTASTIC - great army builders too - figures #41 - #44, #49 and #53 - #55 are ALL going to be bought for me in multiples!

I wonder if that second R2-D2 in the toy line is a bit smaller and shorter to accomodate the droid socket in Anakin's starfighter? That would be great if it is, then I could get a couple of those and repaint them each for R4-G9 and R4-P17...

I think the Anakin on Mustafar figure is by far my favorite of the line - does anyone think that this figure will come with interchangeable heads and arms like the Dagobah Training Luke does? One crispy head and one yellow glowing eyes head!

This year is going to rock for figures!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: ROTS Trailer
« on: March 10, 2005, 09:10 PM »
All I can say is WOW!

This movie is going to make the entire PT worth it!

I love the part when Palpatine said "Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?" and then out came the lightsaber! That part of the movie is going to ROCK!

I can't wait to get the QT version so I can go over it frame-by-frame...

May 19th can't come fast enough!

Feedback / Re: JediMAC's feedback

Earlier this week I completed an extremely plesant transaction with Matt - I picked up for him and Jared some colored animated clone troopers - even though I screwed up and accidently sent him a tri-lingual one, he graciously accepted it as his opener.

Odd thing was, I BOUGHT that tri-lingual figure at a Walmart in NJ!!!?

Thanks Matt!

I've actually read this book, along with the adventure that takes place before it in the book "Jedi Trial" (this is the book where Anakin earns the rank of Jedi Knight)

Anyway - both books are enjoyable and REALLY fast reads. I did enjoy reading "The Approaching Storm" and  "Cloak of Deception" both as well. The idea of having a prequel book that covers the lives of the characters right before the movie helps explain how the character got to where they are at the start of the film.

The focus of Labyrinth of Evil is two-fold: Anakin and Obi-Wan's quest to bring Dooku and Sidious down and Dooku & Grevious' actions as they (a) move the seperatist leaders to a sole location and (b) Plot and execute an invasion of Coruscant.

The parts with Anakin and Obi-Wan were great -- they emphasized how they had grown as comrades in combat, compesating for each other's weaknesses and functioning as one force. There were never any times during the book where Anakin and Obi-Wan were at odds like they were at times during AOTC so it showed real growth (mostly for Anakin) of these two characters.

A sub-plot of the book deals with Mace Windu leading the search for Sidious who they believe is operating from Coruscant (duh) - the search leads them to an area called "The Works" - we got a glimpse of this part of Coruscant at the end of AOTC - basically it's a large collection of run-down factories and industrial complexes. Mace, a few other Jedi and a squad of clones follow tunnels that they find underneath the building where they have evidence of a meeting between Dooku and Sidious that leads them all the way to the exact same building where Palpatine lives (go figure!).

However, before Mace can investigate further, Grevious unleashes his invasion of Coruscant and heads to the surface of Coruscant himself with the intent of capturing the Supreme Chancellor.

Like I said, the book moves quickly and is a really plesant read. It's nice to see HOW Grevious gets Palpatine in that chair in the "Generals' Quarters" at the start of ROTS.

I would definitely recommend it - especially to anyone looking to expand the story surrounding EPIII. I hear that there will be a book that will be coming out near the end of this year that will deal directly with the days following EPIII - so as a trilogy of stories, they should form a nicely expanded telling of the events leading to the fall of the Republic and the Birth of Darth Vader and the Empire.

or just cut the head off another r4 and glue it to the plug in body.

Yeah - if I could get a spare astromech plug and modify it, I would. However, I don't want to ruin my R4-P17 socket plug in the process.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Grievous' Wheel Bike
« on: March 8, 2005, 11:57 AM »
Just a quick question: has anyone been able to get the included Grievous (horror that he is) to sit in his chair and hold the controls correctly?  The controls and the footrests are made of a really soft rubber, and as yet I have been unable to get him to look right sitting there.  Any tips from anyone else out there?

The shot I posted above that shows the pack-in Grevious in the cockpit is the BEST I could do - which is, feet were on each foot rest but only ONE hand was holding a controller for the vehicle - I just could NOT get the figure to grab hold of BOTH controllers and STAY that way.

Frustrating to say the least.

By the way, Pete, those are some nice socks you're wearing.  ;D

Why thank you!  ;)

I was trying to get the pictures together as fast as possible and no matter how I positioned the ship, I just wasn't getting a good shot of the bottom - so I used my feet to hold it up... so in that pic you get the Droid Tri-Fighter and my feet! LOL!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter

So I got a second R4-G9 on the way home last night and I was able to get the feet off of him in a reasonable manner - they separated at the seam so I can easily put them back on.

Even with the feet removed the astromech sits too high in the droid socket. Comparing the figure's front panel features to the sticker shows that there is at least a 1 CM difference in height between the plug-droid packed-in with the starfighter and actually using a R2 unit toy. Now the obstacle to getting the droid to look "right" in the socket is the main body itself - not the legs. So the socket itself is definitely NOT deep enough to fit any R2 unit. If they were going to make a socket, couldn't they have AT LEAST designed it to fit an R2 figure? Either that or include a "bonus" R4-G9 socket "plug" so you could depict Obi-Wan's fighter from either the start of the movie or when he flies to Utapau.

I didn't get a chance to take pictures last night so I'll do it tonight.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Grievous' Wheel Bike

Yeah, once I had this Grievous figure in hand, I too was really impressed by his "suck" factor.  I guess I don't mind because we are getting other better General Grievous figures, but it would have been nice if the Wheel Bike figure would have at least matched the other one in terms of coloration...  ::)

If the colors had matched - since the head is ball jointed, you could have just swapped the head of the packed-in Grevious with a excellently detailed preview or regular release. As you can see from the picture, the heads don't even look the same between the two figures!
