Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Coca-Cola or Pepsi?

Coca Cola over Pepsi, diet Pepsi over diet Coke.

That might change if I ever get my hands on a bottle of Coca Sek.

The price really depends on the market. Some Wal Marts have the 2 disc for $13.97 er whatever wacky price. The Target bonus disc is really crappy, however.

Includes:

The Baxter Building: Declassified - 6 min, 45 sec
Fantastic Four: Comic Book to Film - 3 min, 50 sec
Trailers: Daredevil, Electra, X2, LxG

So, 10 minutes of features, and old trailers to mostly crappy comic book movies, as opposed to a 50 minute documentary on the making of the movie for anywhere from $0.00 to $4. It's all up to the buyer.

Thanks for the info. I actually bought the movie as a stocking stuffer for my nephews. My only interest with the movie -- and I'll have to wait until after Christmas to borrow it -- is in watching the parts with Jessica Alba.  :P

My point was more along the lines of gauging how successful or popular this program is for Walmart. I went to one Walmart today and saw a bin (mis?)marked $9.44 and filled with around 5 different types of bonus packs, including Million Dollar Baby and Troy. (ROTS was not one of the movies.) If this is widespread, it appears they'll have to refine the idea.

Clone Wars 2 and Fantastic Four.

I noticed FF at Target has a sticker that says a bonus exclusive dvd is incuded -- 15 minutes of behind-the-scenes footage and trailers. I'm not big on these store exclusive bonus footage (well, at least not a fan of paying $5  more for Walmart's bonus dvd even if it is 50 minutes of something or other), but since Walmart's barebones version is the same price as Target's w/ bonus dvd, I'll be returning Walmart's.

Wasn't expecting to buy anything at Target but surprised to see the three Harry Potter dvds and Shark Tale for $5.88 each. Haven't seen any of these yet and the price makes up for the time I inadvertently bought the FF version of Shark Tale when it first came out.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2005 Holiday Figure - Vader?

Those with the December 9th ship date will get the Holiday 2005 Edition packaging. Later pre-orders will get the same red Vader but with the wreath replaced with a heart and the bubble sticker that says Valentine 2006 Edition.  ;)

During the first promotion, one BK near me eventually sold bundles that included one of each toy. I'm hoping they do the same again because I refuse to shovel that much crap into my body again.

I think it's somewhere on here about the time my son (at around 3 years old) threatened a guy stocking the meats at Wal-Mart with a "You'll be dead!"...

This has been one of my favorite kid SW stories since the first time you wrote about it.  :)

None of my own but I indoctrinate my sisters' kids like they're mine.

A few times while babysitting one niece when she was around 6 or 7, she would get my Millenium Falcon, raise it over her head, and fly it around the living room, with her own sound effects and all. Wish I took pictures.

When my nephews were around 1, I showed them the rancor. Scared the crap out of one. The second thought it was a chew toy and started gnawing on the claws.

About the same time, I brought out the naboo fighter. One of them lifted it with both hands as best as he could, made a whirring sound, and moved it back and forth. This surprised me since he had never seen TPM but he knew it was meant to fly.

When the boys were around 3-4, I let them borrow my lightsabers. They took it to my mom's, who babysat them while their parents were at work. I stopped by and my mom was immediately on my case. Something about her displays getting attacked by the boys. But hearing her rant about it paled in comparison to seeing it.

I wasn't there long before one of the boys grabbed a saber, extended it, raced to the cabinets, and just slashed away, left and right. Busted curio pieces were just flying. The sight of this little boy trying to control the saber that was longer than he was tall, and laughing hysterically, still makes me laugh.

What's the world coming to when man's dinner starts killing man's best friend?

I echo the old coot from the wasteland up north: You guys can all piss off.

How can Hasbro justify a $40-$50 AT-AT Walker for the WOTC roleplaying game after Action Fleet was killed? And when can we see holographic figures of ewoks to commemorate those killed in ROTJ?

There's so many good cuss words out there, English and non-English, it's hard for me to choose just one. It really depends on the moment.

I was in Phoenix for less than 24 hours this past week and lucked into seeing Clemens on the mound against the D-backs. The guy is not as overpowering as he once was but he's pitching better than ever. Just amazing. I'd like to see him shoot for 400 wins.

I wanted to give Palmeiro the benefit of the doubt when Canseco pegged him in his book. His lame denial in front of Congress changed my mind, though on the surface and without proof, it was only fair to preface his steroid use as "alleged". So his suspension doesn't surprise me.

I've been on the "nay" side of the "Is Palmeiro a HoF'er right now" debate. I needed to see a couple of more solid years to be convinced only because I saw him as the offensive equivalent of Don Sutton or Phil Neikro -- nothing really dominating in their career.

IF he were to bounce back from this brouhaha AND string a few more solid years, I'd be inclined to say he belongs in the HoF despite the steroids. In this era of performance enhancers, legal and not, he's (so far) proven himself as one of the better players of the day.

You could have a buildup of polish and whatever contaminants were on the surface prior to applying the polish. In this case, car wax will only add another layer that'll dull eventually. I've never encountered this problem, but I do know there are stone cleaners available that claim to remove stains and soils without damaging the surface or leave behind chemicals.

added: Oh, yeah, what Avenging Knight said.

I've talked with granite salespeople from stores that specialize in countertops. They always recommend a sealer every 12mos-18mos. It's probably overkill, but it's an inexpensive preventive maintenance.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Take a Penny, Leave a Penny
« on: June 2, 2005, 02:12 PM »
I wouldn't feel right taking more than 2. In excess of that, I'll pay the amount outright and leave behind the 1 or 2 pennies I get back. Even if the total was $xx.53, and taking 3 cents would get me back 2 quarters, I'd skip the penny dish because I like to have small change for the parking meter. It's a lousy feeling when a nickel is enough for a quick run to a shop and all I have are quarters.
