Revenge of the Sith / Re: TRU Exclusive Clones!
« on: July 11, 2005, 07:02 PM »
I'm gonna wait to say anything about these.  I figure they'll most likely be shown at Comic Con and THEN I'll have something to say.

And Nick covers a lot of toy shows and stuff so we'll wait to see what he's got to say about these.

I'm not going to respond to this other than to say please read my signature line.  Have a nice day!  ;D

Sweet, I'll just wait for your next toy show review so I can finally form a valid opinion about whatever they're showing there, because I don't have the credentials to do it myself.

So did you happen to see my byline on this article?  Oh wait, I saw you repeat some of the text almost verbatim in another thread.   ;D

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Battle Packs (5 figure sets)
« on: July 11, 2005, 11:49 AM »
That is a cool idea.  I think many of us thought how cool that would be for the longest time.   It's just to bad that they are all rehashes.  I think many would have liked to have seen a new Zuckuss and 4-LOM.

Rebelscum (through another site) had just recently mentioned rumors of other battle packs as well.

1) Hoth Themed - Veers, Probot, and 3 snowtroopers.

2) Jedi Tempe Raid - Anakin (#2), Clone Pilot, and 3 of the blue Clonetroopers.  Why they would put a Clone Pilot in that set is beyond me?

They did say it was just a rumor though.  So, who knows?  Find out at the SDCC I suppose.

Real deal.  I was holding back on this story, but it got out through a friend of mine at JTA.  Curto glommed off of that.  I reported the whole thing here.  Images to follow.  SOON.

I have to agree that turning this into a political discussion is a disservice to the victims of this attrocity.  I used to work with people who used the King's Cross train station every day and I'm genuinely concerned for their wellbeing.

Turning this discussion into what the roots of terrorism are that led to this attack would be a very circular and short discussion.  It might be wiser and more beneficial to ask people to do what they can for the victims and in the same breath ask that they take their own time to look into the topic.  Message boards are not always the best sources of history and information.

Check out Suncoast and Toys R Us.  I've seen them quite a bit at those two chains over the past week.

I also found a preorder on for a set of TTT wave 5 for $39.99, so I ordered myself a set, just in case I don't find that Uruk-Hai and Wal-Mart decides they don't want to carry the mix cases that pull my ass out of the fire anymore.

Save yourself (and indirectly me) some grief and don't do business with  They ARE in fact scalpers.  They operate in the next town over from me, and they constantly have guys running around to the local TRU's, WalMart's and Target's to buy product there for resale to you on the internet at astronomical prices.  I've seen them out too many times hoarding new products and exclusives.  They even did that at Midnight Madness.

Cool repaints.  I get the feeling  ;) that more Clone repaints could be just around the corner.

Matt. get loud about Unleashed.  The line deserves the volume you can generate.   ;D

Here are some of the character ideas I came up with in an effort to give Hasbro some Unleashed food for thought.  I even came up with an idea for 2-packs that would probably sell for $24.99 or so.  Anyway, here are the Unleashed figure ideas:

Qui-Gon Jinn
Destroyer Droid
Obi-Wan Kenobi VS Darth Maul 2-Pack
Queen Amidala

Zam Wessel
Kit Fisto
Ki-Adi Mundi
Plo Koon
more Clone Troopers

Mace Windu VS Palpatine 2-Pack
Anakin Skywalker VS Count Dooku 2-Pack
Obi-Wan Kenobi VS General Grievous 2-Pack
Wookiee Warriors
Darth Vader on operating table
and more Clone Troopers

Ben Kenobi VS Darth Vader 2-Pack
Princess Leia 2 (Death Star Escape)
C-3PO and R2-D2 2-Pack

Luke Skywalker - Wampa cave
Yoda on Dagobah
Luke on Bespin
Han Solo in Carbonite
Boba Fett 2
Lando Calrissian

Jabba the Hutt
Luke Skywalker VS Darth Vader 2-Pack
Emporer's Royal Guard
Biker Scout on Speeder bike
Lando in Skiff Guard disguise

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Which Clone is Commander Bly?
« on: July 9, 2005, 01:12 AM »
Nicklab, which one is Bly again?   :-*  Just clownin'.   :-X

Whatever dude.  The reason for the back and forth on this was because there were too many bits of conflicting information from Lucasfilm floating around regarding the character.  The Databank is as close to canon as you're going to get and I'm content with that as a reasonable explanation.

The interesting thing that was revealed in the Commander Bly databank entry was the Behind the scenes page.  It finally explained why the Official Site's Cargo Bay has the Clone Commander, figure #33, listed as Commander Bly by posting this image:

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed Again

It almost looks like Hasbro took a page out of the McFarlane Sports Picks playbook when they came up with this wave.  Each piece seems to be a modified version of the previous releases.

The Shocktrooper seems like the best one, IMO.  It's got enough differences to be pretty cool.  Han is good, too.  Especially the base, but the clincher for me is that the head sculpt looks excellent.

Chewie seems to be the problem child of Unleashed.  Fur, flying or otherwise,  just doesn't translate well in this medium.  Even Gentle Giant had trouble with Chewbacca, and their sculptors and manufacturing process are signifigantly better.  Oh well.

Managed to score an aged Theoden and Balrog battle Gandalf today.  This line keeps getting better!  Now I just need to find the Battle Cry Uruk Hai.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Much Needed Resculpts
« on: July 2, 2005, 12:01 PM »
Well, I like your ideas.  I would add in a new Sio Bibble to the EPI basic figure mix along with resculpts of the Naboo Guards.

For the VOTC, I don't think a Battle Droid is a good idea.  $10 is just too much for this army-builder.  Not that your ideas are bad, but here's my VPTC list -

Qui Gon Jinn
Obi Wan Kenobi
Darth Maul
Nute Gunray

Jango Fett
Padme Amidala (Arena)
Count Dooku

General Grievous
Anakin Skywalker
Emperor Palpatine
Mace Windu

I really like your lineup, Chewie.  I'd change 2 things.  Replace Nute Gunray with a Destroyer Droid, and C-3PO with a Clone Trooper.

Before I got into the line, er, knew better, I actually found a Bruins Bourque and gave it to a friend at cost.  Ducks Kariya, too.  I still kick myself over those.

I hear you on the villains, Jim.  I really like these from your list!

Titanium Man
Crimson Dynamo
Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (Blob, Pyro, Destiny, Avalanche)
Super Skrull
Baron Zemo 2
The Leader
White Queen

I'd definitely add on...

Master Mold (at least the head)

Alpha Flight
She Hulk - Avengers w/ FF variant
Grey Hulk (from Banners re-merge with Hulk)
