Welcome to JediDefender, pakledjim!

Hope you find the place to your liking.   :)

Ah! I see, but you do realize that pakled means sheep or is the classification of sheep?

Wait, so do you like Star Trek or Sheep?  Do I even want to know the answer?   :-\

The Original Trilogy / Re: Vader/C-3PO
« on: May 11, 2005, 04:50 PM »
Like I said, for me, I'll go with the "Vader never got a good look at 3PO" to solve that one.

Then, I'll go with "Obi-Wan is a liar, from a certain point of view" to solve the Obi-Wan/R2 problem.

I guess we can just say that Obi-Wan was being cautious when he said he didn't remember R2 and 3PO.  He sure as hell wasn't going to tell Luke that the droids once belonged to his real parents or that this 3PO unit was built by Darth Vader himself...

Obi-Wan seemed to work off a "need to know" basis when revealing info to Luke, so I'll just assume that's why he pretended not to know the droids...

The Original Trilogy / Re: Vader/C-3PO

We were discussing this a bit the other day...

Is there a good moment in the trilogy where Vader gets a really good look at 3PO?

On the Death Star, he's busy fighting Ben and probably doesn't notice him.

On Bespin, 3PO is missing by the dinner scene.  It's really only during the carbon freeze that Vader is around 3PO.  With all that was going on, maybe he didn't get a good look since 3PO was "exploded" at that point.

Maybe Vader was pre-occupied with Luke and never gave the droid a 2nd thought assuming 3PO was lost on Mustafar or Coruscant...  :-\

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Exclusive Clone Trooper

I just get a little mad that Hasbro/Target/whoever deems this a $13 figure where it should be $5-6 (or maybe even $7-8 for being an exclusive).  Nice figure, but a bit pricey.

Here's some "insight" into the Target Pricing on these...

Hasbro is basically comparing these figures to the vOTC - a Basic Figure with Clamshell Packaging.  The Hasbro MSRP they showed at C3 was $10 and that's consistent with what they are charging Target for these (ie the cases of these cost approx the same per figure as the vOTC did).

If you remember, Target started out at $10.99 on the vOTC until Wal-Mart forced them to price-match down to $10.  In addition, a few of my Target sources basically admitted that Target bumped up the price a bit to the $12.99 because they KNOW collectors will pay it.

Target has been known to charge more for exclusive items in the past (Accessory Packs for $15, $40 for the B-Wing) and when it comes right down to it, as others have said, you don't see these sitting around very long do you?  Even at $13 they disappear pretty quick.   Lava Vader sucked as a figure, especially at $13, but when it's all said and done, they sold them all...  :-\

So, in summary:
The vOTC showed them (Target) we'd pay $11 for a figure and Lava Vader showed them we'd pay $13 for a figure

Not only did we (collectors) show them we'd buy at those prices, we're still showing them by buying up Lava Vader and the Clone.

Anyway, you can blame the $13 price tag on Target.  Hasbro wanted to charge you $10 (because of the clam-shell), but Target is the one that is sticking it to you...

On a semi-related note, TRU had the opportunity to put Holo Yoda in a case but apparently they chose not to to "keep the price down"... and then they went ahead and charged $10 for the figure anyway.   ::)

They should do a yellow (mustard?) version of the Clone Commander, because I don't think the Evolutions one comes with a visor.  Or does he?  Can't remember.

The Evolutions Clone does not come with a visor because he is supposed to be Commander Bly:

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Greivous' Cough?
« on: May 11, 2005, 03:06 PM »
Is there an audio sample someplace (like a preview, trailer, tv ad) of his cough in the movie?

I don't think I've actually heard his movie voice yet, just the cartoon network version.  If there is a grevious audio clip, I think missed that one...  :-\

Note in the GH Preview of the SA Clone that they indicate Hasbro told them paint variants were in the works for #41.  I don't really care for these 3 packs either :-\

Yeah!  Another example of "take a hard to find figure and make it even harder to find"!  Way to go Hasbro!  Now just make sure that the re-painted #41 is only 1-per-case to really screw us...   ::)

Go ahead and give us some paint variants on #38 AT-TE Gunner too while you're at it...

Jeff - you mean different from Vader and the 5-pack of cases clamshell or different from previous releases of the SA Clone?

It is a third style clamshell case.

Style 1 - came with the Lava Vader and Target 5-packs
Style 2 - came with the Clone Trooper.  It has Vader Emblems on the "Locks".
Style 3 - came with the Clone Trooper.  It had Clone Emblems on the "Locks".

Someone reported somewhere around here, but I can't remember who it was.   :-[

I can take a better picture when I get home tonight, but for now this image (borrowed from GalacticHunter) should clear up what I mean:

You can see the first case the Clone came in had "firey crosses" on the locks of the case, the same emblems that were on the lock-nubs of the Vader case.  The new version of the Clone Trooper case has what looks like a laser bolt of something on the little locking nubs at the top.

I came across these again today (thanks to a tip from Mike - Thanks Mike!  ;)) and was able to pick one up with the "new" third style Clamshell case.

Why they had to change the Clamshell?  Beats me.  Are the little "emblems" on the "lock" really that important?   :-\

Revenge of the Sith / RotS Deluxe Clone 3-packs
« on: May 11, 2005, 10:57 AM »
Since we love our Clone discussion here, I thought this pack needed to be separate from the other wave 3 stuff...   ;)

Looks like GH dug up a picture of the Colored Clone set...

Colored Clones, Loose
Colored Clones, Carded

So, will we see this colored set in addition to or instead of the all-white pack shown at Celebration 3?

I guess we can cross these guys off the list...

Green Grunt (Fights Under Gree)

And the other two in this picture:

Looks like they are coming in the Deluxe 3-pack of Clones...

I went ahead and merged the thread we had in Watto's into this one so you guys only have to post your headaches from in one spot...  ;)

Good luck to all of you waiting for your "in-stock / ships in 24 hours" orders to ship only ten days later...  ::)

I don't know if he's a "Clone" or not, but I wouldn't mind seeing one of the Courcscant Firefighters...

Jeff - if your #41 clones arrive in beat up condition, I'll take them off your hands!

Sorry, but I haven't ordered anything from them yet.  After being burned and given headaches from countless other on-line debuts, I skipped this one entirely...

I'm in a total "wait-and-see" mode to determine if I will ever order anything from them.   :-\

Until I hear from someone who gets their figures in great shape, I'm not holding my breath for HasbroToyShop.   :-\

Does anyone remember a few years back when Hasbro opened the store to sell Batman figures and other stuff?  It was a flop because after a month, the store was filled with Batman figures that wouldn't sell after the exclusives and villians were long gone...  ::)

I fully expect to start reading the "my figures arrived, but they were crushed/not minty" horror stories as soon as the figures start shipping...  :(  I have no faith whatsoever that Hasbro can pull this off without it being a major headache for all sides involved.

And the idea that I will have to trust the Hasbro monkeys to get me my Mint on Mint Card figures?  I hate it already as I'm imagining having to order 4-5 of each figure in order to chance that I will get one minty-mint one...  >:(
