The Vintage Collection / Re: K-Mart Vintage Ewok/AT-ST Driver 2-Packs

Is anyone finding these guys still?

Awesome!

I got 4 so that I'd get free shipping and the deal.  Probably won't keep them all, but it's nice to get another exclusive out of the way.  Exclusive... I believe everything I need to finish out this year is an exclusive... Kmart 2 packs, Jocasta Nu, last vintage wave.

Once you open one, you might just keep all four. What's better than one, awesome speeder bike? Four of them.

Plus, the trooper is highly articulated, so there's so many options for posing him. This was really a home run by Hasbro. The only downside was the exclusivity. I hope they repack it for a while.

Just got an email notification, they're back in stock at toysrus.com. They still have the BOGO-50% deal going on.

Honestly, as much as I'd like to get them on sale, I'll buy 'em at full price...I just want like two more.

It sucks that TRU is full of crappy exclusives like the pod racer sets, while this is nowhere to be found.

Anyone still finding these? I found one, and I've been calling/visiting the TRU's around me pretty much every day with no luck.

Ah, the commtech reader...what a piece of ****.

I should probably type that up for you as a "forum guest review" on our front page...  you really can't expand on it much further than that, and it's a fair and accurate assessment.

You're very welcome to!  8)

I think the conversation is a worthy one, but your opening—and motivation—are a bit ridiculous. Why don't you just edit that first post a bit...we don't need threads revolving around bickering collectors.

(Sorry mods, just sayin')

As for collecting prequel figures, I pick up what I want. I don't feel the need to buy a whole new clone color scheme each time they're resculpted (I still have a bunch of the 2004 Shock Troops and 501st clones), and I don't feel the need to tear my hair out buying every one of Padme's gowned figures. I don't buy every resculpt of the jedi, unless the figure is a vast improvement.

It's different for the PT for me, than it is with the OT. I'll whip myself up into a frenzy for a cantina or Jabba's palace figure, but I don't feel the same draw for Prequel figures. However, some of the designs are great, and so I support them by buying them. Some are boring (looking at you, Ric Olie) and so I keep the original release.

Thanks for the guide Jesse! I'll definitely try it out before I display that mini-behemoth.

Thanks for breaking this one out into it's own thread, by the way! It's nice to have a good, healthy debate again.

I think I would chalk up the appearance of the hood to the combination of helmet straps & Han's moppy haircut. As for the moustache, Harrison Ford has some pretty pronounced upper lip area, that might appear like a moustache when top lit like in that shot...

Guys, it's a pretty simple explanation...

Step 1: Han "Wait! I've got an idea."

Step 2: Han Solo wearing a helmet and gloves, and not showing anything else "It's over commander...blah, blah, blah..."

Step 3: Han Solo surprising the reinforcement troops with a grin and shoulder shrug.

If it looks like Han Solo, sounds like Han Solo, ends with Han Solo and was Han Solo's idea, then it's Han Solo.

I don't know...I grew up believing Han just threw on the helmet and made the call. Plus, he gives that little shrug and smile when the Imperials run out and get duped, so at the very least he was behind it. It really does sound like his voice though. Honestly, it's the easiest and most likely explanation...helmet, hand in front of face, call.

As for the driver thrown off the AT-ST, I'm wagering broken neck at the least. You don't get tossed by a Wookiee off a 28ft tall moving vehicle and just get up and dust yourself off. Plus, there were a ton of pissed-off Ewoks just waiting on the forest floor.

Well, he's definitely very close to the camera, and I'm sure it's pretty standard. If girls on Facebook can figure out how to take ridiculous profile pics of their eye, half a smile and a boob, I'll bet Han can figure out how to fake a broadcast on the AT-ST webcam.

Oh yeah, we can see that the installation is pretty huge when they first arrive, before the Ewoks tell them about the "back door" (snicker).

I still don't think Han put on the whole outfit just to send the message. I always felt like it was helmet and gloves only.

Reminds me of the God-awful "TIE Crawler" design...

Seems to me that thing would shear itself in half in about five seconds.
