Fantasy NBA?

Hey everyone.  Sorry if this has already been covered, but I didn’t see it anywhere.

For the last two years I’ve set up a fantasy NBA league through Yahoo for Rebelscum members.  There hasn’t been a big interest in it – we only had 7 people last year – but thought I’d try over here since there seem to be a lot of fantasy players.  I could probably get a few people from last year and thought I’d check to see if anyone here was interested.

I don’t know how you guys run your leagues here at JD, but we usually do a $15-20 fee to get in, then the winner (or 1st and 2nd place) get a prize (cash or SW stuff).  The fee/prize thing isn’t necessary, but it makes it nice to have something to play for.   

Anyway, speak up if you’re interested.  I’d love to do another league, but with only 7 teams it was kind of blah.

We usually do run our own league here.  I believe we had 8 teams last year but it could have been more.  Maybe if we combine we could get a few more people involved

We normally run a free league here, last year we had ten teams in basketball, 14 in football, and 8 in baseball.

We almost killed each other in the free ones, I can't imagine what's going to happen if you dangle $100 out there.

Anyhow, I plan on playing at JD because that's where I get to take Scott on.

Well, count me in with the JD league this year.    I'll bother some friends that played in mine last year and get them to join here.  We should have healthy competition this year.

Well it looks like the season starts in a little over a month.  Let's start getting a head count here to see who's interested.

And what kind of league do you want?  Head to head?  Or rotisserie like last year?  I think head to head might be fun, but probably requires immaculate attention to daily happenings.

Also, who wants to be commish?

I'm in but don't want to be commish.  I think you and I are excused, since we've already got leagues on our hands. 

I prefer rotisserie though.

Hey guys. Long time no see. Glad to see that Jedi Defender is still kicking and going strong at that.

I got the invite from John and I'd certainly like to be in. Like John said, we only had 7 last year and I believe 8 the year before so it will be nice to have 12 this time around. I find having a prize structure helps keep teams motivated as well as offering that extra bit of excitement in the form of a reward,  but if everyone thinks it will be competitive and fun without it then that sounds good to me as well.

I actually started a Fantasy NHL league and will be posting the details in the coming days at Rebelscum in the vintage section. I'll make sure to give you guys the info as well. I know hockey is a tough sell in the US so I'd be elated to get 8 players. I'm going to go with a small fee/prize structure for that one but I'll be making it pretty cheap.
