Since you all seemed to wnjoy my last post as RS - I thought I'd share my most recent. I figure I'll be banned in about 2 hours

My post from the Dustin for Pres thread:
Dustin and Philip:
When you made the first post on the main page of 'scum, I came on here and raised the concern about the dual messages you were sending by it. I warned that the "commercial" nature of your appeals wasn't going to win any friends, influence people, or get our boy Dustin here elected. Many of your "supporters" here blasted me as being a bitter, jealous person, spiteful of Rebelscum, instead of hearing the considered points I was making. So far, it is looking like I was right.
A "nobody", in terms of the collecting community, is turning in more subsciptions than Dustin. A lot of that appears to be driven by the disdain for how Dustin has been presented. Good politicians know when the tide is against them and adjust to it. Instead you are continuing more of the same and the gap is widening.
There's still a chance for you to step up to the plate, but you are running out of time. From the free product given away by Philip's venture, it is obvious he is supporting you in your efforts. I think it's time you ask Philip to do something noble.
Philip, you've made some small coin off of Star Wars collectors through your endeavors over the past few years. As you have stated time and time again, you run it like a business so you can keep it going. I'd advocate that you start doing what socially responsible businesses do -- give back.
Why not offer to publically donate $10.00 to a charity for every subscription Dustin brings in between now and the end of the contest? (If he manages to bring in another 100 subscriptions -- which would seem to be a stretch -- that's only $1,000 -- a small part of your star wars collection budget for the year.) Have all his supporter sites get the word out. That would be a noble effort rather than the sad joke this is becoming.
The Fan Club SHOULD have done something meaningful with this contest -- something other than crass commercialism. Sadly they didn't. Here's your chance to show what REAL leadership within the collecting community should be.
