SDCC 2012
« on: June 6, 2012, 05:09 PM »

Looks like several companies are posting their SDCC Exclusives...any guesses on a possible SW one?

I still find it odd that NO retail exclusives were shown in the TF slides.

Anyone want to place bets on whether or not they learned their lesson from the "Revenge of the Jedi" set and these will be A LOT easier to get via Hasbro Toy Shop?

I'm hoping the answer is "yes", but I'm not counting on it.

I know it defeats the point of it being "exclusive" but I really wish as an alternative to buying this set, they were selling just Jar Jar in Carbonite on a Vintage card-back. So make it be where the 7-pack is only needed by extreme mint-in-package collectors.

I'm not a big fan of exclusives being "hard to get", but if it's something really simple like exclusive packaging, I'm ok with that.  The ROTLA Lost Wave killed me that they'd do that...  That sucked.  The Revenge Cards, as far as I'm concerned, could've never come out to retail (including the black Trooper) and I would've been pretty much as happy.

I could've tried for the Trooper somewhere, but I wouldn't have been flailing about over it either.

I see Hasbro revealed a Marvel 3-Pack as an exclusive for SDCC already so I think there may be a Star Wars reveal very soon...  Jocasta Nu's a rumor going around, but not necessarilly for SDCC.  *shrugs*

I hope she's animated so I can not care.

I always go, but there may be a conflict this year. I won't know until a few days before, but we should certainly hook up if I do.

As it stands I think the only thing I am wanting from SDCC is the Marvel Universe Masters of Evil 3 pack.  But it stinks cuz I will be working until about 12:30 central time this year.  Does anyone remember about what time everything on HTS went up for sale last year?

Or is there anyone out there going to SDCC that might be able to secure me one of these?   ;) ;)

update:  just remembered I wanted the Jinx figures too.....  oops!  lol

Changing the subject a bit, any idea if we'll actually see anything new this year?

They better or the Hasbro reps are going to get a double tongue lashing from the fan boys. They've already pissed us off enough with bad distribution.  It will be fun to sit in that Hasbro panel.

Some predictions...

-I think a repainted Snowspeeder is on the way, maybe as an exclusive.  Wedge's.  Snowspeeder Wedge maybe a short distance behind it.

-The TRU Exclusives will be unveiled if they don't get it beforehand.

-I think we'll see C6's exclusive(s).

-I think we'll see or hear at least a rumbling of some kind of attempt to get figures from early this year out in greater quantities...  If it's not brought up by them, someone will ask about it.

-Death Squad Commander...  I think it's gonna happen, and I think we'll be hearing about it before Summer's up.

-Clone Wars Fans are going to have something to be moderately happy about at least, despite the disappointing first half of the year.

-Target Christmas Items.

SDCC Star Wars announcements:

The whole action figure line will be placed on hiatus until summer of 2013, so they can focus on some kiddie construction toys. The failure of Episode 1 related merchandise will be blamed. No new AOTC merchandise is planned, as the 3D release of that film will only play in select major cities and not see wide release.

No more large vehicles will be made because of low orders for the MTT, and the starfighter assortment will be cancelled, this will be revealed after the showing of a mock-up of some really awesome ship.

Lucasfilm will pull the Star Wars license from Lego so Hasbro can make Star Wars Kre-o.

Despite its success the BAD feature at Disney will be cancelled abruptly, all remaining parts to be rounded up and destroyed.

The Clone Wars cartoon will end after a 13 episode season 5. Cartoon Network announces that the new episodes will air in the show's new time slot, 4 AM on monday morning. These episodes will not be put up on Starwars.com.

New head of LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy, will reveal that the Star Wars live-action t.v. show plans are official cancelled.
