LEGO / Re: Simpsons
« on: April 17, 2014, 10:45 PM »
I picked up 8 of the 16 new minifigs tonight at Walmart. I probably could have gotten more but 20 minutes of fondling was enough for me.  :-X

I only guessed wrong on one as it turns out, thought I had Mr Burns but somehow ended up with Maggie. Maybe I just picked up the wrong bag, I had like 3 different piles going...(need, don't need, can't tell) It felt a little creepy but what the hell, better than ending up with a bunch of dupes.

Anyway, these are freaking awesome and I definitely plan on going back when I have more time and picking up the rest tomorrow. Even better, they all rang up at $2.97 because of some kind of discount due to an ad discrepancy on another Lego item.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII
« on: April 17, 2014, 02:11 PM »
Im not liking the Ben thing if true, I think if he had had a child with anyone it would have been Satine. But more to the point, it just changes his character significantly I feel like. He was always the classic warrior monk, live-by-the-code type guy. I also don't like the idea that he would have abandoned his kid, or even been oblivious about her. Plus how does that fit in the whole timeline? Would have had to have been on Tattooine right?

They should have just made her Lando's daughter and made things simpler.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series - 2014 Wave 2
« on: April 17, 2014, 01:54 PM »
Good deal, although I open all these things anyway, disco Chewie did seem to lack any dignity in that old packaging. And they managed to turn an otherwise lackluster wave into a winner. SO glad they swapped out Obi-Wan here. Easy case order...

Curious if they will drop the Stormtrooper from Wave 5 now...

Yeah, that story has been out there for years, it was the kid who could shoot fire. He was one of the few cast members who never went on to do ANYTHING after that movie. Hollywood is icky.

Snagged another Stormtrooper at TRU this morning...it finally popped back up on their website too (the listing that is, still not available to order) so I was able to get them to price-match the $17.99 online price.  8)

This one has the bad paint apps between the eyes too, must be an epidemic.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Pacific Rim Toys
« on: April 16, 2014, 09:03 AM »
Some interesting news to share about this line...I had talked to the manager of our local TRU about these recently and when I walked into the store yesterday he saw me and told me they had a case in the back, but they weren't supposed to put them out for some reason. I had him check the computer and apparently these were marked to be put out by a non-TRU rep (??). I guess apparently they aren't always allowed to stock their own stuff?

Anyway, after a few minutes he confirmed they rang up fine and there was no technical contraint to selling them, so I walked out with a brand new Cherno Alpha.  ;D

Best part was I had a $5 Rewards coupon that was about to expire so I got it for $17. First figure I have ever opened from this line (this is an extra, still have a boxed one too) and it is really nice. Makes a hell of a paperweight!

The three Targets I cleaned out a week or two back all re-stocked over the weekend with the newest wave.  :)

I was able to score two more Stormtroopers and my buddy got the third. Hoping the log jam has now abated and these will resume selling through as they were before that whole Greedo/Leia debacle.

Luckily one of the Stormtroopers I found had decent paint apps around the eyes, the other was as bad as the first one I bought. Seems to be a real challenge for them.

Glad to be done with this wave more or less, will be hard to resist buying more Stormies if I see 'em though.

Yeah, i noticed that random Holo Chair Engineer too, weird as they never sold that in any of their retail stores. (Nor to my knowledge did the ever sell the 18" Gypsy Danger in stores)

I'm just glad I ordered this stuff online...wonder if NECA will comment about this at some point via Twitter.

That show is shot in and around Richmond here at some of the local plantations. The daughter of a woman I work with is on the effects crew, supposedly there is a good chance of a second season unless it bombs completely.

Historical fiction is not my bag, but it does have a lot of compelling elements, hope it does well for them.

Forgot to mention: one of my favorite things was the rogues' gallery they cast as the "World Council":

Evil Widmore from LOST
The Indian dude from the subway station in The Matrix
The hot chick from American Werewolf in London

Well played!

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series - 2014 Wave 1
« on: April 9, 2014, 11:13 PM »
Its is hard to find a Stormtrooper.

TRU takes it down from their website and has yet to add it back, yet both the other new figures from this wave are readily available. Then my local store keeps restocking Wave 1 on the shelves.  ???

Hasbro Toy Shop can't seem to restock any of these either, but again, you can get Obi-Wan and Luke.

Amazon has only been listing these from third party sellers, normally by now they would have gotten their own stock in on items like these and the price comes down.

Three local Targets I know have been liberated of all their 6" pegwarmers and yet the pegs still sit empty day after day, as if there is nothing even at the distribution center.

I understand HTS being sold out, supply and demand and all that, but why would TRU take the whole listing down? I think K-Mart did the same thing on their website.

Just seems like these are having a really hard time getting any market penetration right now.

Just so, so happy I saw AoS last week, then CA2 Friday, and then last night's episode. That was the perfect sequencing of events. The show has gotten much better over the course of this season. The kinda threw a wrench into things last night though, not sure where they will go from here. (Start working on that GotG tie-in!)

Yeah, he was always one of my favoites growing up. Hard to recognize him in photos without that trademark facepaint.

It's gotten so good, last night was the best episode yet IMO. The synergy of tying this in with all the CA2 stuff was brilliant. That is exactly what this show should be, an extension of the films, filling in the gaps in between, etc.

I'm kinda bummed after all the twists last night though, my 2 favorite characters are now bad guys.  :(

I thought it was very enjoyable, plenty of action and lots of good SHIELD scoop. Some of the finer details in the plot seemed a little confusing, but that would probably clear up with subsequent viewings.

What was the signifigance of the cute girl next door that never really developed into anything? Is she a relevant character from the comics? Or some superhero-in-waiting?

Other thing I kept wondering was, with all this major SHIELD stuff going down, shouldn't Hawkeye have made an appearance at some point? Or at least been mentioned in passing? He seems like more of a company guy than Thor, Hulk, or Iron Man.

Very curious to see how they address this on the show. They pretty much wrecked the Triskellion...and what about that squirrely dude in the glasses? He has been a recurring guest on the show a few times. I guess he is Hydra, but not the Clairvoyant? But the woman who I guess IS the Clairvoyant, is she Hydra too? Ugh, too confusing!
