Other Toy Lines / Re: McFarlane Sportspicks

I know it way too well.  And the reality?  Ray Lewis is one of the most sought after players in all of Sports Picks, the same as Urlacher.

Actually, it looks like we're going to get a new model Jedi Starfighter.  As for the Clone Troopers, I think we might see a new helmet design based on the Insider article.

I didn't really take issue with the X-Men box set.  There are different head sculpts on Wolverine and Magneto, Beast has all of his accessories, Gambit has a different accessory set, and Rogue is all new.  The Urban Legends set bothers me more, since all it was were 3 repaints and the Punisher with different accessories.

Jeez, how did I miss this thread today?  Hey, do we have any Houston area JDer's out there?  I'm jonesing for that Clemens/Bagwell Fan Fest set!

The NFL 8 figures definitely look nice.  But once again, there isn't a single defensive player.  I've known the lineup for a while, but it still irks me that McFarlane won't give guys who play D their props.  Defensive players have been some of the best selling of the NFL line.

Still need to go back and get a Vader too, the collection doesn't look right without one :).

I also need to pick up Vader.  I have the one with the helmet on with the bridge/steps but I need the helmet off one with the rock(at least I think it's a rock).  I am also glad though, about the re-release of Leia as she was packed in with rock Vader and were either underproduced or sold extremely well.

The Vader is actually posed in what looks like the base of his meditation chamber.

Just to play Devil's Advocate here...How many '03 reissue figures are you seeing?  I'm referring to the figures that were listed in the late 2003 line.  Frankly, I don't see many of them at all.  I'm not seeing too much of the Hall of Fame wave sitting around for very long, either.  Is anyone else seeing this stuff warm the pegs?

This was a popcorn movie, pure and simple.  I saw it last night, and it was alright.  Not the best thing I've ever seen, but not the worst either.  I'm begining to like Kate Beckinsale more and more, that's for sure.

I kind of knew what to expect going into the movie.  After all, this is the same director as "The Mummy" and "The Mummy Returns".  Both were reasonably predictable and slightly campy.  Is that bad?  I'm not sure.  I think that depends on your tastes.  If you want to go to the movies and have some fun with something that's less than cerebral, then check it out.

Haven't opened them yet, anyone else found them???

I lucked out.  A friend of mine found a couple of sets at a local store and picked the wave up for me.  I like the Lando the most.  Nicely done!  Madine ranks second for me.  The arm articulation is nice, and I like the figure overall.  I'm somewhat indifferent about the Han Solo.  It's good, but the freak collector in me knows it's kind of a kitbash.  But hey, I'll take a new figure over a reissue any day.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: May 14, 2004, 02:41 PM »
I paid $1.89 a gallon today in New Jersey.  This is the highest I've EVER seen gas prices in NJ.  I can only imagine what the rest of the country is like, because NJ has some of the lowest gas prices nationally.  The lowest price I saw yesterday in NY state was $2.08 a gallon.  It's really getting out of hand.

Today, I add A-Rod & Mariano Rivera to my list.  With as many Yankee games as I've been to over the past few years, this is the first time Mo has come in to save a game I've been to.

Also, forgot to mention Wade Boggs.  I saw him play on the '96 Yanks while on business in Toronto.

Just got back from the Big Ballpark in the Bronx!  The Yanks took it to the Angels in style, knocking three out of the park courtesy of red-hot Ruben Sierra, Bernie Williams and Hideki Matsui.  Jon Lieber had a no-no going into the 4th, but the Yanks came back in the next inning.  And when Mariano trotted in from the bullpen to "Enter Sandman", it was a thing of beauty.  Yankees win!   Thu-uh-uh Yankees win!!!!!!!!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Honda Accord: Anyone drive one?

My family has had a number of Accords.  They've all been great, and extremely reliable.  I own a Honda currently, but it's a CR-V.  Still a really reliable car.
