Gah...

I have come to the much too obvious conclusion that there is FAR too much stuff coming out for Episode 3.

I know we've talked about it before in different places, but it really is starting to be SOOOOO much toys that it is becoming overwhelming.   :-\

In April/May we're getting
at LEAST 41 basic figures, as many as 45 ($6 each)
at LEAST 4 deluxe figures, as many as 7 ($10 each)
at LEAST 2 small small vehicles, as many as 4 ($10 each)
at LEAST 4 Mid size ships ($20 each)
at LEAST 2 Large ships ($30 each)
at LEAST 2 Battle Arenas, as many as 3 ($20 each)
at LEAST 1 playset ($30 each)

and that's JUST the Hasbro 3.75" stuff.  If you were to buy 1 of everything, you could end up spending $610 plus tax.  And that's if you only buy 1 of everything, not counting army builders or extras for a carded/loose collector.

If you start to add in the other Hasbro stuff:
at LEAST 37 Attacktix figures
at LEAST 3 Unleashed
at LEAST 6 GH 2-packs
at LEAST 3 12" figures
Lightsabers
etc etc etc

Plus the candy, the Gentle Giant stuff, Master Replicas stuff, etc etc.

I remember a GLUT of crap for episode 1, but at least it was spaced out over the whole summer.  It's just FAR too much stuff in my opinion.  At least FAR too much, FAR too fast.   :-\

It's almost starting to anger me how much stuff I'm going to have to pick up thanks to my OCD, THEN on top of it all, you have to figure out how to get all the TRU/Target/Wal-Mart exclusive figures and exclusive crap...  >:(

I'm supposed to be "enjoying" collecting all this crap, but this "TRU at midnight, Wal-Mart at 6am, Target at 8am to get exclusive figure" crap that is shaping up is starting to really really bug me...

It might just be this "joyous" time of Episde 3 that finally kills my OCD collecting once and for all.  If it breaks my OCD I've enjoyed for the last 10 years, well then "Thanks" in advance to all the Target and TRU marketing jerks out there who thought up the "each store gets an ultra-limited figure" crap.   >:(

Went to my first concert of 2005 last night...

Motley Crue

Through a wierd chain of events, my dad won two free tickets to the show off the radio, so since we were both free, we decided to check it out.

Seats weren't great - center stage, but way up at the top of the Target Center (sect 201, row R), but for free you can't really complain.

The show was actually pretty good (I had low expectations - 4 has-been rockers on a reunion tour).  They kept the new stuff to a minimun, playing 1 set of stuff that was pre-1985, then an intermission, then a second set with post-1985 stuff.

I heard lotsa classics - Girls, Girls, Girls; Too Fast for Love; Dr. Feelgood; Kick Start My Heart; Shout at the Devil; etc.

Overall, a pretty good show..

Well, these we alreay knew about...
087-06-1262 - Micro Vehicles
087-06-0311 - Collector Edition Darth Vader with Laval Reflection Figure

As for these...

087-06-0937 - Figures with Cups

This is the same DPCI that the Saga Figure with Cups had.   :-\  I don't know if this means we'll finally see the cancelled Wave 2 - Han, Yoda, Boba Fett or will it just be left-overs from the Saga stuff?

087-06-1489 - Collector Edition Stormtrooper/SW Articulated Super Clone Trooper
087-06-1490 - 5-pack Collector Cases

I haven't heard anything other than rumors at this point abotu the other two items.  Nice to see that DPCI #s have turned up, that kind of helps to confirm the rumors that they are coming.

Have to go digging to the Target contacts and see what I can find...

I can finally join in the "leaked figure" party...

I scored #7 R2-D2, #25 Tarfful, and #26 Yoda at a Wal-Mart yesterday, they were left-overs from stuff put out over the weekend.

Only $5.24 each plus tax, very nice price!

It's a cut scene in the movie where Greivous and Obi's break dance fight.

It's over General Grievous... You Got Served.

Word.

So, we've seen lots and lots of reports of stuff leaking out early:

basic figures (C1 and C2)
deluxe figures
unleashed
jedi force
force battlers
lightsabers
LEGO
Assault Vehicles

but no one is finding the Battle Arena 2-packs, the small vehicles (Boga, AT-RT, BARC), or the ARC-170 yet?  I wonder why those haven't started turning up en masse yet?

Maybe they haven't hit the back room yet, or maybe they won't be around for the April 2nd madness?   :-\

So who is the Half-Blood Prince?

I've heard that JK Rowling said it isn't Harry or Voldemort, so who then?

Hagrid?  He's Half Man, Half Giant, right?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 2005 Red Metallic Darth Vader @ Target
« on: March 14, 2005, 02:55 PM »
Well, I've heard that the Vader is packed at 36 per case and that the amount of cases per store will vary.

There will be at LEAST 36 figures per store, as some of the larger stores will get more than 1 case...

Target Stores = 1 case of 36
Target Greatland Stores = 2-3 cases of 36, depending on location
Super Target Stores = 2-3 cases, depending on location

My sources seemed to indicate that there were about 45,000 of these figures available to Target.  When you factor in that there are over 1300 Target stores in the USA, that's about 40 per store.  Like I said, the bigger stores get more, the smaller stores get less.

It should end up being limit 1 per person per day (not sure how they can track that though).

In fact, what's the point of even taking that exclusive if it's only 36 per store.

I can tell you with 100% accuracy that the point of this figure is to get your ass into Target on April 2nd.  They could care less about the figure or the people that don't get one.  They just want to make sure they have "something" to offer to try to get your business over TRU or Wal-Mart on April 2nd.

They see it as a "reward" for those who buy stuff at Target on that weekend, and nothing more.  In fact, the low number of them is designed specifically to get you into the store that weekend and no later... they want you to buy as much as you can, as fast as you can so you don't wait for the eventual clearances.   :-\

Yeah... the national poll at ESPN has the Gophers beatin Iowa St., but look at the numbers for the eventual game vs. UNC:

UNC 98.8%
Minnesota 1.2%

 :o

Not much faith in the Gophers beating UNC I guess...

Herbie has Lindsay Lohan in it, does it not?  I may have to bring Max to see that one :o :)

Yeah, and she is wearing a racing/NASCAR "trim" fitting jumpsuit in the preview if that makes a difference to ya.   ;)

You can watch the preview here:
http://movies.yahoo.com/movies/feature/herbiefullyloaded.html

Herbie actually looked pretty good.  Quite a few additions to Herbie's abilities thanks to CGI, but I think they capture the 70s/80s Herbie very well.  Glad to see he's basically the same car with a few CGI modifications and not some new style Beetle or anything.

Should be a fun summer movie...

I doubt Iverson and LeBron will have enough W's to be considered too seriously.  Shaq and Wade will split a lot of the Heat votes, as will Amare and Nash for the Suns, which may just let Duncan sneak in for his third.

I agree with this too.  I think Amare and Nash will split a lot of votes, same with Shaq and Wade.  It's hard to be the league MVP if you might not even be your team's MVP.   :-\

I'll guess that Duncan, LeBron, and Iverson have the best shots at the MVP.

Iverson is scoring a ton and is at the top with assists.  King James has turned around a once hopeless franchise.  But, like J-MAC pointed out, they both might not have enough wins when compared to the other teams (Miami, Spurs, Suns).

If this were baseball (where MVP means "Flashiest Offensive Player regardless of team performance"), I'd give the award to King James.  He's the most valuable to the game and it's future in terms of leading the next batch of super-stars.

However, since this is the NBA MVP (where TEAM performance actually matters to the MVP vote) I have to give the nod to Duncan.  He's is leading the Spurs to the best in the west alone without a Nash/Amare helper.  Near the top in scoring and rebounds, I think it's his.

So, I saw Robots on Friday.

It was actually much better than I was counting on, so that was a nice surprise.

The previews before the movie were fantastic though!  Here's a quick rundown of what we saw:

Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Herbie - Fully Loaded
Sin City
Ice Age 2
Revenge of the Sith

First time in a long time I liked every preview they gave us.

Back to Robots, it was pretty good.  A fun story, an easy message, not too preachy, and the animation was pretty good.

I'd say, if you like other stuff Fox has done (Ice Age) you'll probably like Robots too (although Robin Williams is a little bit too much at times - you're zany Mork, we get it  ::)).
