Watto's Junk Yard / Has Anyone Built a Deck Before?
« on: June 16, 2004, 04:45 PM »
Hiya Guys Gals (I know there are 1-2 of you females out there),

Summer is here in full effect and we are ready to get rolling on our big summer project:
We are attempting to add a deck onto our house this summer.

We started out in May (the five days it didn't rain) by preparing the ground/landscaping around the house:  moving trees/bushes/shrubs, building a new garden, pulling out some old hostas, etc.  Now that the area along the house and yard have been landscaped for the deck, it's time to actually start building the dang thing, and the more I learn about it, the more daunting a task it is appearing to be.

I've got my plans (thanks Home Depot!) and building permit in hand, and the raw materials will be delivered this weekend.  We've also rented up some power equipment this weekend to help us dig the 42" deep holes in my yard this weekend...

Anyone got some helpful tips for digging post holes?
Anyone out there in JD land ever built a deck before?
Any helpful tips that you can offer up to a Novice Deck Craftsman such as myself?
(sarcastic "don't nail your hand to the deck" comments are not needed, but fully expected from you turkeys)  :P

I realize that we're all SW dorks, therefore the stereotype indicates that we aren't exactly outdoor-builder type craftsman, but I don't believe in stereotypes, so I'd like to think that SOMEONE else has gone through this before...

 ;)

Sorry to both, no meat prodcuts involved.  (Does Spam qualify as meat?)

I think were still waiting for the answer on that one.

According to Hormel, SPAMtm is a "Meat Product" just like Beef Jerky or other "prepared foods".  It cannot be considered "Meat" because it has already been processed and prepared for consumption (although, they often refer to it as a luncheon meat).

I guess that settles that debate, with Hasbro confirming Agen Kolar and Stass Allie as part of Box #3, even though, technically, Stass and Agen were NOT on the council.

I thought Eeth Koth and Adi Gallia were still on the Council (since the council footage was recycled from Episode 1), and Agen Kolar and Stass Allie were just clever names for the new actors who played them during the Arena scenes... or has that been ret-conned?

[speculation]

I hope to see at SD Comic Con:
  • vOTC wave 2 LOOSE and CARDED
  • vOTC wave 3 loose at least, carded would be nice
  • OTC waves AFTER Imp Scanner Dude... Coruscant wave, etc.  (they did show us the first 2004 wave [hoth] at SDCC last year, right?)
Not asking for too much, am I? As far as Q's for the Big H via JediMAC:
  • What's the deal with the rumored Cantina Screen Scenes that Yakface showed off?  Coming out or junked?
  • What's the deal with the SWS.com exclusive Emperor figure?  Big Head or Ep1 Holo Sidious re-hash or something new?
  • What's the deal with the Cloud Car?  Is the original mold lost or not?  Are you re-tooling a new one or not?  Why has it been rumored for the last 4 years?
  • Then, give them a pat on the back for getting that Sandcrawler thing finally wrapped up...

Forgive my ignorance, but how does the re-arrangement affect the schedule?

Do we get less games against Duncan, Yao, and Nash in favor of more games against the Blazers and Sonics?  Ick.

At least we have a good change to own our division for a while... so does Denver.

ps.
It's good to have ya back OCB ;)  and Mario too...

Remember when they used to put GUM in with the dang cards?
And you had to wipe the "gum dust" off of the first card?

Remember when Upper Deck didn't exist yet?
And Griffey, jr's Rookie Card was their best card?

Remember when you got your Topps Billy Ripken error card?
The one with #$%^ on his bat handle?

I do... I'm old.

OK I'm going to start handing out PermaBans unless more people start watching this video.  Deanpaul went to all of this trouble to entertain every last one of us and what thanks does he get?  Zip, nada, zilch.  Throw the man a bone

More than one person in my office hath now "busted a nut" from laughing so hard.

Creepy, yet Joyous.

I am, quite in-deedely-doodely, Hooked on a Feeling.

Hmmm...

X-Wing Pilot Luke would be a good one.

If you want an X-Wing Luke head, let me know and I'll mail ya one... I've got a 5 or 6 left over from Rogue Squadron Pilot Customs I've done.  All you have to to is use an exacto knife to get rid of the teeth paint.

:)

If I see it and I like it, I'll buy it!

If I see it and it sucks, I'll pass.

Sounds neat though...

Since he's from Bespin, and a pseudo-new figure, I'm adding this here instead of the re-hash thread...

Galactichunter.com has a nifty feature up on the OTC Bespin Luke.

Check out this picture:
Bespin Luke Comparison Photo

It's a GREAT comparison of the Saga (Beat-Down) version and the newer one from OTC.  The coloration on his outfit is more vintage-brown than the Saga yellowy color.  VERY nice.  I waffled on this one earlier, but I really like the changes now that I've seen better pictures of Luke.

Now, I'm definately gonna pick up one of these bad boys.  That way, I can have a Bespin Luke ready to take on Vader near the Freeze Chamber, while my Saga version cowers on the weather vane after Darth kicked his butt.

If only there were more of these cool re-hashes mixed into the OTC...
