The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: Toy Fair 2014
« on: January 21, 2014, 07:32 AM »
I'm not expecting anything. I have no interest in the 6 inch line or the Rebels line, and those are probably going to dominate, along with Angry Birds like Jesse said. We might see pics of the next wave after the Dagobah Luke/Yoda wave but nothing else.

I'm actually expecting Hasbro to not have anything Star Wars, at least what little they will have will be brushed aside in favor of Marvel stuff since the movies are out in April and May. Star Wars will get more focus at SDCC, but that should be all Rebels.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Well, the script is done, and I read that shooting begins in May. Shooting will probably wrap up in August/September, and that leaves around 15 months to do all of the special effects and reshoots and such.

Star Wars Universe / Disney to Purge Select EU
« on: January 12, 2014, 05:53 PM »
So according to this article, Disney is going to spend the next several weeks and months trimming the fat off the EU, so to speak, by reorganizing what is and is not canon.

I think this is a good idea for the most part. I'm only familiar with a few items from the EU but a lot of it was pretty dumb from what I've read on Wookieepedia (Clone Emperor, Ken Palpatine, Yuzzhan Vong, etc). On the other hand if they decide to axe stuff like Thrawn, Shadows of the Empire, Rogue Squadron and KOTOR I'll be a little bummed since those were pretty good EU projects and seem to be enjoyed by pretty much all Star Wars fans.

Any specific EU you want Disney to axe or keep around?

LEGO / Re: Simpsons

That's a great set, and a heck of a value. 2500 plus pieces for only $199 for a licensed set? By comparison, the UCS X-Wing is the same price and has 1500 pieces, and the Ewok Village has 2000 pieces for $250.

Good thing lots of the Star Wars and hero sets for the first part of the year are pretty lame, it'll free up some cash for this set.

Not sold on the minifigs but I'm sure I'll change my mind when I have them in hand.

Well since I would get first pick I would love to draft based on rank, but I don't care either way.

James Avery, aka Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince and Shredder from the animated Ninja Turtles series. Terrible way to start the new year!

They're seriously kicking this new line off with a repacked Cap and repacked Iron Man?

Got my Slave I on Christmas Eve, and opened it along with my other presents on Christmas Day. This thing is AWESOME. Worth $100? No. $70? You betcha, and I really feel like a thief after getting it for $35.

Literally my only complaints are:

- The wings are a bit rubbery and don't stay fully rotated in "flight mode"
- Carbonite Han is a reeeeeeally tight fit in the "Cargo Hold," to the point where I'll probably never put it in there again
- Lack of a handle for play. The AOTC Jango Slave had one, and it would have been cool here, but no biggie.
- Lack of a pack-in figure. I would have taken that 5 POA Battle Pack Boba, the new one, TVC Boba... any sort of Boba. Again, this kind of goes back to that value thing. You can't have a Slave I without the Fett man!

All really minor complaints when you look at the big picture though. I love the rotating cockpit feature that they took from the LEGO versions of the ship, and the thing is HUGE. Practically doubles as a base/hideout. Can't wait to fly this thing around with the BMF.

Anyone have a chance to see Anchorman 2? I caught a showing this weekend, and although I went in expecting a crappy sequel, it might have been worse than what I expected. Rehashed, less funny jokes from the first one, and cameos and roles from all of the current and unfunny SNL cast members. The best parts we've already seen in the trailers, mainly Ron's black female boss and dinner with her family. I would recommend watching it on cable or Netflix or something for free though.

I think again, it all comes down to value. The AOTC Slave I came in a set with what, a Jedi Starfighter and 3-4 figures? All for $100. For the same price, the Amazon ship was just the ship in fancy retro packaging. It just reeked of greed, and should have been $70 to begin with, heck maybe even a few dollars lower. Or throw in a Boba Fett, a Stormtrooper, Bespin Guard... make it feel like we're getting more than just a repainted ship for $100, ya know?

Caught a matinee today and I guess I'm the only one here who was disappointed... the 2.5 hours actually did fly by quick but I think I'm mostly let down by the cliffhanger. I could have sworn somewhere they were ending it with the death of Smaug and having the Bilbo/Thorin conflict as the center of Part 3 but what we got felt more like 2.5 hours of "good guys find out who the bad guys are and don't do anything"

As is normally my luck after making a post on here, I found a Xavier at Target today. So I think since this line is ending/changing names, all I have left to track down from my personal want list is Miles Morales Spidey.
