I didn't have much of a reaction either way to this EP. It didn't strike me as particularly good or bad, just sort of filler.

Dooku makes me laugh. You're trying to secure information that could turn the tide of the war, and you entrust the whole operation to a bunch of droids and that goofy ass warden? Damn right that needs your personal attention.

They'd be better off just nuking the planet from orbit to insure that the Republic never got that information either.

Lots of good toy fodder from this arc though, would love some animated probe droids and those commando battle droids with the shields.

The Citdel would make for a hella cool playset too.

they are starting to give SW figures that MU style neck joint?  I am guessing that is what you mean by the "Thor" syndrome - unpainted neck joints

Yep, exactly. Apparently there are some "variants" floating around out there that have white, unpainted necks. (was it Loki that had this too? I seem to recall as much)

That sounds ugly as hell to me, I'll definitely be checking this carefully before I make any purchases.

They're out!!!

JTA reports these have been spotted at Walmart in PA.  :o

That's close enough geographically that I might actually have a shot at finding these today.

Hello, lunch hour and after work runs!

FWIW, it also sounds like there are some sketchy paint apps on Anakin's neck, so you might want to keep an eye out for that. Sounds like the "Thor" syndrome.

Got my shipping notice from HTS last night for the Army of the Republic is officially on the way.  ;D

I have seen reports that this has been spotted in stores as well, but no signs around here yet.

I bought another one of these today after seeing it on the shelves for the first time at Walmart. Haven't decided if I will keep it or not, but maybe.

I would really love to know how they managed to screw the pooch so badly on getting the Tri-Fighter and HMP out. That is really perplexing. I'm glad to have these at all, but I would have preferred swapping out my sub-par packages for mintier boxes.

Wow, price bump on the pilots sucks...  $29.99 isn't atrocious, but sucks nonetheless.

Those Endor sets are now priced at $31.99 around here I noticed.

BBTS has them up for pre-order now, and both this and Wave 2 are estimated as March 2011. That's about as exact as we are likely to get.

I am hoping both waves hit at once, as with TVC Waves 4 and 5. They are really falling behind on this line right now.

I found some surprising new TCW swag today - the two new DVD 2-packs. Similar to the Walmart exclusive Malevolence sets, these are just repacks of previous figures with a DVD thrown in for good measure.

1 x Landing at Point Rain (Obi-Wan & Battle Droid)
1 x Weapons Factory (Anakin & Super Battle Droid)

I picked both up at Walmart for around $33, which is atrocious, but I figured what the hell, we're not getting any other new stuff anytime soon. I don't think these are exclusives, there is no stickering as such.

Mostly just notable because I haven't seen a single other report of these hitting anywhere else online yet.

Sweet, says they are in stock too, saves me from dealing with the extras in a case...which is also another reason why I love the BBTS Pile o Loot :-*

All the ones I see say Pre-Order?

I would have started the thread over in the Clone Wars section, but I wanted more than five people to read it...  :-X

Shoot, you may as well have just stuck it in the Minnesota section.

I've seen quite a bit of panic regarding this packaging replacing the Vintage branding and I'm starting to understand why.

I've been to three different message boards and even though this new look will reportedly have zero impact on the beloved Vintage line, discussions are taking place in the Vintage forums rather than the Clone Wars or Saga Legends forums. It's pretty misleading.

I've been reading some of the posts on those otheR Sites as well and they are freaking hilarious. Some people are ready to slash their wrists over this news it seems. "I'm done with collecting!"  :D

I just saw the other photo mock-up for what I assume is either a BP box or mid-size vehicle package. Kind of odd looking with the clear window. I'm not losing any sleep over this news though.

Let him rest in peace, I say.

The sucky thing about this reboot is we will probably be back to at least two of the lines sharing the same packaging look, and we all know how careful big box toy section employees are about differentiating between the various sub-lines.

I've really enjoyed having three separate packaging styles for the three lines. You don't get overflow clutter from other pegwarmers.

That looks like an awful lot of plastic, I wonder if it will be trimmed down for production.

That motif is going to look kind of silly for the Clone Wars line though, IMHO. (Oppress arc or not)

The thing that worries me though is that I've just completed my 9th Star Wars collection liquidation for a fellow collector's X-wife. I hear the story over and over how boxes and boxes of stuff just keep arriving at the house all addressed to him and no where to put them. Pretty soon simple things like telephone service and electricity get turned off. She has no idea what is going on. She finds out that they have a huge credit card bill and no money in the bank. This goes on for a while and the family get separated. She comes to me to help sell his Star Wars collection. We typically get about 45-55% of the retail price of the stuff. The older stuff like EP1 is given away to charity. She is trying to rebuild her and her children's life and he is living with some friends or his parents. Another family destroyed. Of course, there were other reasons for the divorse but being burried in stormtroopers with no lights pushes things in that direction really well.

That is sad, but I have to ask - how did she come to acquire custody of (and the accompanying rights to sell) HIS collection? Was this part of some kind of court-ordered settlement? Did he sign off on that idea? Or was this more of a punitive action on her part?

Thanks, Greg, it does seem like an odd process over there.

I can now report that both BP's are now available to Pre-Order, they must have updated sometime in the past 90 minutes. I went ahead and snagged the Army of the Republic pack for $30.94 total after discount (HTS10) so that's not so terrible. I'll save that much on gas just by skipping the store blitz for this thing.

For the love of God though, please put up that BARC w/Jesse deluxe set!  ;D
