The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro & Collectors
« on: November 23, 2010, 09:18 AM »
Well, I'll say this: if you are an adult collector of the TCW line, Hasbro would like to pretend that you do not exist. I just read another Q&A response from GH where they slapped down the Duchess Satine figure while going out of their way to point out that it's only kids that collect this line.  ::)

Nevermind Satine has had quadruple the screen time of Shaak Ti and she has been involved in way more action sequences. "Kids won't buy her"

As long as you keep repacking Anakin, Ahsoka, and Obi-Wan in every wave, you should have plenty of wiggle room for non-iconic support characters.

I get the economics and demographic angles. I understand I am part of a minority here. But it is not an insignificant minority. I literally buy every single thing they put out in this line, often purchasing multiples for opening. I am hasbro's frigging wet dream of a consumer. Not asking them to bend over backwards or anything, but some acknowledgement would be nice. I don't doubt that there are more adults buying the animated stuff than they suspect.

Too bad we don't get the tampons artillery shells as accessories with the set.

co-sign. That would be a lot more attractive than the crappy repacks that will almost surely comprise this set.

Ha ha...fair enough, how bout some Grievous backstory then?

Heck, bring back Durge for another go around.

I just think there is so much out there that we don't need the filler we have gotten recently.

If you hadn't noticed that Bill hadn't been in the previous films then I take it you haven't seen any of them?  I think he was mentioned, as was Charlie, but we didn't actually seel Bill till this film and I don't think Charlie is ever going to be in the films.

   E...

I have seen a few actually.

The first one was great because, as others have mentioned, it follows the book very faithfully. After that is kind of started to go downhill for me. I much, much preferred Richard Harris over Gambon. Harris was the PERFECT Dumbledore. I know they had no choice but it just lost something after that.

By the third or fourth movie I was so irritated about all the stuff they were leaving out that it became an annoying distraction and I really did not enjoy the experience anymore. That said, I do feel a curiosity to see some of the scenes from the later books, so I'm sure I'll get through the rest of the films eventually.

I think there are plenty of "gaps" they could continue to fill in for several seasons. They haven't even touched on the early construction of the Death Star...they would be a fascinating arc, IMO.

And I've still never heard a satisfactory explantion of who Cypher Diaz is or how the heck that fits into the whole backstory.

And how about a prequel glimpse at a young Han Solo? They could really mine that for fodder.

Lots of interesting stories out there that do not involve Senate debates or Padme in any way. Just sayin'

Freaking hilarious as always.

Hmm, no ideas on other ways to watch, no...sorry. I abhor watching TV on the computer, so sort of at a loss for recommendations. (BTW, stop reading now if you don't want spoilers)

Last night's episode was top notch, maybe the best so far. This is the formula they need to continue to follow: equal amounts of character development/pathos and sweet zombie killing action.

I really liked the subplot with the Vatos, not at all what I was expecting.

Think they are pushing it a little bit with Merle. Get that the dude is born-again hard, but he's not superman. I hope they don't drag that out too long. How did he know they left the van there anyway? Did they just leave the keys in it too?  ::)

I really like the old dude in the Gilligan hat too...he adds a nice bit of depth and color.

So besides the wifebeater and blond girl, who else got killed at the camp? Looked like another woman/girl whom I did not recognize? Anyone catch that?

It felt very true to the novel but a couple of little details were changed that I thought wouldn't really have needed to be changed.  I liked the way they filled in some of the research...what took chapters in the novel was easily handled in a few short lines of dialog without seeming forced in.  And it was great to finally meet Bill Weasley even though I've always thought they should have introduced him and Charlie more in line with how they were in the novels.

   E...

They JUST introduced Bill?!?! WTF? He appears WAAAAAY before the last book.  ::)

I'd love to hear about the other discrepancies, because that stuff pisses me off to no end and may ultimately decide whether I waste my money on this or not.

If you're stretching one book (not even the longest one at that) into TWO movies, you damn sure better include everything IMO.

Okay, so I just saw the first episode and trying very hard not to read the spoilers on 2-4.  I don't get AMC - anyone know of a good place to catch episodes online?  E1 was kick-butt...great ending!

You can watch them all On-Demand for free if your cable system offers that service. HD too.

High hopes for tonight's episode...

ROTJ Wave has hit Walmart here, saw most at 2 different stores today. Went ahead and picked up a Wicket since this is technically a Droids derivative figure, and I collect all things Droids-related. He'll look good next to Boba and BL-17.

Tracy,

Watch the end of Mad Max.  You might find your answer.

Yeah, but he had no time constraints really? Heck, he probably could have sawed through the pipe he was chained to after a few hours.

There was a huge comic convention here today and Walking Dead was everywhere. I was very tempted to pick up a few of the anthologies but they weren't cheap.

Crap, all that hype and we never even got to see her new sabers! Love the new look on Ahsoka though, that will make for one spiffy new figure.

I wonder how hard it would actually be to produce those transforming Infiltrator Droids in the animated line. Because those would make for a pretty slick BattlePack.

Can't even comment on the stories anymore...bank de-regulations? Seriously? They absolutely have to be screwing with us intentionally with this stuff.

Saw this for the first time here locally tonight at the last of 4 Walmarts I hit up today. They only had one on the shelf, no price tag, slightly crushed corner. Kind of an underwhelming debut. Sure they will start to hit more in force next week.

Just saw these are up now at HTS for Pre-Order, sans Jet. With the Family2010 code, it comes to $29.33 for all 4 new figures. Tempting, if not for the estimated 12/6 ship date. Still, it could be worth it to enjoy the luxury of skipping Walmart for the next 2 weeks.

If you need some LMK. I can hook you up.

Thanks brother, PM sent.  ;)

I can't seem to get the inner package back into the mailing package - it's a very snug fit. Anyone else have that issue? I guess I can try opening both ends but I was hoping to retain as much of the original structural integrity as possible.
