Vintage Kenner / Re: Question About Ewok Battle Wagon - Pls Help!

Thanks a lot, that is what I had pretty much figured too. Weird choice on Kenner's part, but one less piece I need to procure, so that's cool. :)

Yep, I don't think I can afford NOT to buy one at that price. Rats.

I'm heading across the street to the Big K after work...thanks for the tip!

Vintage Kenner / Question About Ewok Battle Wagon - Pls Help!
« on: October 26, 2010, 02:30 PM »
I hate to clutter up the forum with another thread, but I wasn't sure where else to post this.

I have a burning question about the Ewok Wagon that I have tried to research exhaustively but to no avail. It's really bugging me, so I am hoping someone that has one of these can help answer this:

RE: the side panels -are they exactly the same? I mean, literally.

If you look closely, you can see there is a groove at one end of the panel. It seems to me that both grooves should face inwards, but on the one I bought loose, the groove faces in on one and out on the other. It seems very odd Kenner would have sculpted it this way, unless they were really trying to cut corners and save money. Is there truly a "left" and "right" panel? Or are they identical?

I have looked at the photo archive on JTA and it appears they have one facing in and one facing out on the one pictured. (IE: seems to support the fact that they ARE identical)

Also, I have been scanning eBay auctions for months now, and although I have seen numerous auctions for side panels (there are 2 listed right now), I have never seen the one that I "think" I would need.

It seems to work ok - I can affix both panels in the correct orientation on mine, it just bugs me about that end groove. It's too assymmetrical.

Anyone have a clue on this? TIA!

Great, so given their lack of enthusiasm, can we expect they will not be pushing to renew the license in 2012? Maybe let some other, superior, toy company have a crack at them? (Doubt it)

The SW franchise deserves better than to be some company's red-headed stepchild.

I think 90% of the complaints about the line can be tied back to Hasbro's apparent indifference and inability to coordinate key elements from production to distribution. It's not altogther surprising given how scattered their attention is across all the different properties. I really think the SW line could benefit from moving to a smaller company where they are 100% of the focus, and all the time and energy goes strictly into those offerings.

Obviously there could be possible downsides to that as well, as far as pricing and avilability, but a lot of potential for improvement as well, I think.

I got mine today.  ;D

The shipping package was slightly dinged, but the contents therein were immaculate. Very impressed.

I have to have another of these now, just for "openers".

Better, but the time shifting has become confusing to the point of distraction. Even LOST wasn't this all over the place.

Felt like we could have gotten more than "Hondo pulled me out of the wreckage" as far as Aurra's backstory. Is Hondo fireproof too? Because the Slave 1 clearly EXPLODED on impact. I think they would have been better off with the old "thrown from the wreckage" or "jettisoned before impact" excuses.

I'm just waiting for them to have Hondo pull out the Slave 1 from his secret interstellar garage, with only a dented fender.  ::)

I also find some of the technological incongruities baffling. You've mastered faster-than-light travel, but can't design an effective blaster shield? You can create sentient androids but can't security scan a building for intruders? You can't even monitor prisoner visits and conversations?

I know it's a kid focused show, but the writers are just getting lazy.

I read last night on the RS forums that at least one guy has gotten this, but he ordered NINE (!) so they just sent him a whole case. No reports that I can find of anyone receiving any singles. I assume they ship the biggest orders first, so that follows. At least we know they made it out of the factory.

I gather you can call Hasbro Customer Service and find out if your name was on the list for the first batch sent out, which should be arriving in the next 1-2 weeks. Might try that later, but I'm not sure I'll want to hear if my name isn't on there.

Seven weeks and counting now since check was cashed. I hope someone asks about this in the next round of Q&A. Dude is totally MIA...

Yeah, don't bother sending anyone down to check the wreckage or anything. Jedis R stupid.

It seems odd to me that we'll now have 3 distinct Banes in the line, especially since the Deluxe version would work best for sitting in the upcoming Xanadu Blood. But I'll take that over another repack any day of the week.

Overall, I think this Wave is a somewhat inferior to the next two that are due up, but January/February should be slow months anyhow, so the timing is probably for the best. Anything new at that point will seem like a blessing.

Finally found a Target that had completed their endcap reset, and saw the exclusive BP's on the shelves for the first time. They had 4 of each, and I was just able to find one minty package of the Robonino set, which I promptly snagged.

Not sure about keeping one just for openers, will probably return my original which was slightly dinged.

However, I am now totally and completely 100% caught up every which way.  ;D

No more runs for me!

I gave these a close once over yesterday because I was really on the fence at one point about the Geonosian/Shaak Ti set, but man, she is one butt-ugly sculpt IMO. Just seems very crude and poorly assembled. I much prefer the TLC version earlier this year, and even the upcoming TCW version is breathtaking by comparison.

I think maybe that Rodian Jedi is the coolest of the lot...

CW39 Hondo Ohnaka (Re-Pack)
CW40 Obi-Wan Kenobi
CW41 Clone Trooper Hevy (Training Armor)
CW42 Cad Bane w/TODO-360
CW43 R7-A7

Still seeking confirmation of there is anything new about Obi-Wan or Cad Bane, suspect both are previously uncarded versions from the deluxe sets...

Very bummed that they have still not found a slot for the Cad Bane in Clone Armor figure.  :(

I'd be happy if he came as a pack-in with an individually carded deluxe Cad Bane figure with a soft goods coat.

Your wish is Hasbro's command, except for the soft goods cloak. Bane and Todo pack-in have both been confirmed as TCW41, part of the new wave following Quinlan, Cato, etc. (Courtesy of Sandtroopers)

Bane looks like the same articulated version that came with the Deluxe set.

Also in the wave are Hondo (re-pack), Obi-Wan (possibly a re-pack, maybe one from one of the Deluxe sets), and R7-A7, which I believe is new.

I've just stumbled across a few this week, one at a Jabba store and one at a non-Jabba store.  ???

Very happy to have this out of the more trips to Walmart is always good.
