Can someone explain why Hasbro doesn't release stuff in the US FIRST, and the rest of the world afterwards?

They're a US company, their biggest market share is probably right here, I just don't get it.

I understand the stuff is manufactured abroad, but they're not cranking them off the assembly line in the UK or Australia. Why does those countries rate ahead of us?

I assume they must have a good reason, but I'm curious what it is.

And I know this doesn't apply to everything in the various lines, but particularly the figures always seem to hit abroad first, exclusives aside.

Posted this in the other thread, but in case anyone missed it, I found 2 full cases from this wave on the pegs at TRU today during lunch. You could have knocked me over with a Pilf Mukmuk.

No idea if this was an aberration or whether these might start showing up again, but I had no inkling these would be back around, so it was a great relief. I grabbed a Hondo and Aayla for openers immediately.

Might be worth checking around if any of you guys still need these.

Surprise, surpise!

I strolled into TRU at lunch today on the offchance they might have anything interesting, and what did I happen to find but TWO full cases of TCW figures from the Hondo/Aayla wave earlier this year. My eyes just about popped out of my head!

I scored BOTH Hondo AND Aayla for openers, which I have wanted forever it seems like. I was on the verge of caving and going the eBay route but I'm so glad I didn't now.

Now all I need is another Magnaguard redux for openers and I am totally and completely 100% done til the relaunch.  ;D

That was too close...when is this team going to have an offensive explosion ala Argentina or Portugal?

So apparently the re-deco Republic Tank is part of the same case assortment as the Cloud car and Snowspeeder. I guess we knew this, but I saw confirmation on SWAN from some lucky bastage that already picked up a haul of new stuff from his local comic shop.

I assume this is where the whole August 6th Street Date talk started...

I don't think I can wait another 5 weeks!

Posted this in the other thread, but the Fall Wave 1 figures are up now...all say "Sold Out".

I wonder why they would say Sold Out and not Pre-Order though. Did some lucky SOB's manage to score these already?

HTS now has this wave listed on their website. All are shown as "out of stock" though...damn.  >:(

Gettin' closer...

The Original Trilogy / Re: Are Stormtroopers Clones?
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:15 AM »
I think if that was true Leia would never have made the comment about Luke being "a little short" for a Stormtrooper. If any old schmoe could be a Stormie she wouldn't have batted an eye. But the fact that she picked up on Luke's height right away implies to me that all the Stormies are of identical physical dimensions, IE: clones.

The whole thing about "running out of DNA" seems rather sketchy to me, as they could simply grow more samples in the lab, if only in a petri dish.

Another explanation would be that they're continuing to take samples from Boba Fett. That's probably why Vader had him on Speed Dial when he needed bounty hunter services. It's not like no one would have made the connection to Jango.

And the point about the Empire not wanting to get infiltrated by rebels seems plausible to me and would support the Clones only theory, as well as the whole implied xenophobia thing.

You really can go either way, I just have a lot more logical problems with the idea that they're NOT clones. That seems way more complicated to me.

The simplest and most sensible answer IMHO is that they're just clones. You can dream up any of a dozen different reasons why they would have lost their accent, that's a minor detail.

As far as I'm concerned, any sort of anti-clone argument that uses any EU material as "proof" is flimsy at best. I can dream up any old nonsense and throw it in my blog and that holds about as much legitimacy.

Rant over.

Is this perhaps going to be a Target exclusive? K-Mart, TRU and Walmart have already unveiled their own, sort of...

I thought Bossk came out ok, but mini-Boba seems like a real yawner.

Can't wait to see Robonino!

That's cool as hell. Might need one just for opening...does the helmet come off the figure?

I can't help but chortle at the idea of TCW not being considered EU. And trying to partition off anything as "more EU" than a CGI kids' spinoff would have been laughable even two or three years ago.

Not making fun of you, McMetal, just at the way purist definitions of SW have changed so quickly.

It's cool, everything is relative. IMHO, the show isn't any more kid oriented than the prequels really, unless you perceive it so because of the animation, but I'm more from the Japanese school of thought where this is considered a legitimate artistic medium, so that doesn't faze me.

But to stay on topic, philosophical reservations aside, I do love everything I've seen of this figure. It would have been so easy to slap Wat Tambor's name on there too. Ah well, I will of course be buying at least 2 of these, origins be damned. :)

At long last, I scored my Yak Face yesterday.  ;D

He doesn't come with his weapon, but I know I can pick that up separately on the cheap.

He doesn't come with the POTF coin, but I figured I'd have to track that down separately anyway. (NOT on the cheap)

What I DID get was an excellent figure with a crisp paint job, minimal wear, tight limbs, and for a very affordable $75 including shipping. And that's from a UK seller to boot.

I feel pretty good about this one. Next up: Blue Snags
