The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases

Yeah, I know TCW line has gotten some good profile since SDCC, my point is more the distribution of releases. They dumped 3 waves of figs practically right on top of each other. It's feast or famine.

I'm just bitter and the ranting helps. I know it all amounts to nothing and is just my perspective. It just seems like every day I am reading about some new TLC wave or exclusive hitting/about to hit. There have been 3 waves of figs, plus the BAD stuff, the Evo packs, the Interceptor, the Dewback, the AT-ST, etc ad nauseam.

I know it's cyclical, but the waiting is just interminable. And I think not knowing is the worst part. If I had any idea of when this stuff would ACTUALLY be hitting shelves, it would at least provide some reassurance. As it is now, I've lost all enthusiasm.  :(

And yeah, I know there's a lot to be said for the e-tailers. This is just not a viable option for me because any packages arriving at my house in the mail are liable to be the catalyst for some ugly arguments with the Wife. Also, as a non-opener, I'm somewhat picky about the quality of packaging. I hate not knowing what I might be getting.

Just got my Argyus so I'm caught up on basic figs. Can't wait to read about the next wave of CW and Legacy being found in stores tomorrow.

From your lips, to Hasbro's ears. I have all but given up hope on finding new toys any more. This is easily my longest dry spell in recent memory.

This is just plain asinine. They're throwing everything into the Legacy line right now while talking out of the other side of their mouth about how TCW sells better and has strong marketing support from the show. If that's true, WHERE THE F ARE ALL THE NEW TOYS THAT WERE ON DISPLAY AT SDCC?!?!

We have roughly 8 shopping weeks until Christmas. And we're STILL waiting on 3 Battle Packs, 2 Deluxe Vehicle/Fig sets, and at least 1 if not 2 more waves of figures. (Seriously, Wave 10 has been available online for weeks now, what is the hold up?)

I'm literally so over this nonsense I am losing interest in collecting altogether. It's like having a bad addiction and no reliable source. I need a fix!

Got the Bespin Long Mustache Guard yesterday in the mail...not quite as obvious a variant as I had hoped. Ah well, he was fairly cheap and off the List now.

Picked up Short Mouth Biker Scout last night on eBay. I don't see too many of these, and most look like foreign knock-offs. (Maybe that variation was only part of a foreign production run? Not sure...) Pretty happy about this one though.

I'm a Matt too, but I am passing on Panno. :)

Nothing personal, I'm just not a Legacy man. He does look cool though.

So I think I just got a shipping notice for my Wave 10 order...

I've now bought 3 waves of figures in a month.  That's insane.

Who's in Wave 10 again? You mean Legacy, right?

Yeah, this pisses me off a little. I JUST bought the damn thing and now you're knocking $20 off it? Way to dis-incent people to buy product hot off the trucks.

Thank God they don't have any more exclusives coming out this year. With their abysmal recent history of sticking new figs, BP's, etc, I think I can scratch TRU off my list entirely til 2010.

I got my IG-88 variant today and man, I am pleased with this one. A "true" variant, I can now see the subtle differences in the head sculpt as well as the awesome metallic finish. Much cooler than the dull gray I had growing up.

I also got a very nice Death Squad Commander, which is the next to last "replacement" fig I need. (Original Luke is last)

Still waiting on the Bespin guard to show up...along with a nice minty gray-hair Ben I needed.

Saw the new ROTJ Legacy wave for the first time around here last night at Target. Looked to be almost a complete case. Giran looked really sweet, but none of this stuff appeals to me enough to buy. Still, good to see new product hitting the shelves. Just wish they hadn't let the TCW line lapse into obscurity all of a sudden...

Hmmm, guess I am in the minority...this was a real snoozer, IMO. Just give me tech stuff, explosions, and cool aliens and I'm good. Leave the soap opera stuff to Star Trek.

I did find it interesting to see the interplay of the various Separatist factions; that would be great fodder for future episodes. It can't be easy holding together an alliance of such disparate interests.

Nice move leaving Padme's ex to get murdered at the end. Honorable Jedi indeed.

Really working the Vintage angle lately with no new CW stuff coming out...

Picked up the Bespin Guard and IG-88 variants over the weekend. Man, it is hard to eyeball that stuff on eBay with any degree of certainty. I swear it took me 15 minutes just to figure out if I had the "long mustache" or "short mustache" version. And don't even get me started on those IG-88 eye stalks...

I'm just happy 8pm appears to be the new time slot for this season. After 9 was just not working for me last year...

As for this holiday season, as soon at "black friday" kicks off, anything with a SW logo (especially multipacks and roleplay items) will start fiying off the shelves making way for new product. I don't think panic is warranted yet.

Well, I'm certainly not panicked, since I don't work in Hasbro's marketing department, but I think concern is warranted. I don't know if I agree about anything with a SW logo flying off the shelves - Yarna comes to mind. If that was true, I don't think Hasbro would have had their reps out in force pulling back stock around the country as they have been doing.

Retail sales have taken a steep hit this year; I don't think we can necessarily predict what will happen based on years past.

Heh, we all knew this was going to happen.

Cripes Hasbro, two years in a row now where product was held back for the just before Christmas quarter. We know you want great sales for the quarter, but you're screwing up the rest of the year and making it hard for everyone to get what they want then. This is creating a deluge of OLD product on shelves, that dramatically inhibits the potential for that very stuff you want to have come out in the 4th quarter being put on the shelves/pegs.

Yep, it's totally asinine...and it's not just figures either. I don't know where they will be able to stock any of the new BattlePacks with scores of the old dregs collecting dust. (How many $&%@! B'Omarr Monastery packs did Hasbro MAKE anyway?)

They will cry "bad economy" but that is old news. Anyone could have seen the writing on the wall 18 months ago.

They have really screwed themselves for this holiday season I think. I KNOW none of the Wally's around here have space for an AT-St or Dewback. Nor will they for quite some time...

I loathe EU stuff generally speaking, but whatever jackass thought up that stupid Rabbit-Man should be tarred and feathered and banned from ever having anything to do with Star Wars ever again. That is the most inane, ridiculous thing I have ever seen.  >:(

No animated style figures made the cut?  :-\

Meh, so much for my interest in this poll...
