That looks like an awful lot of plastic, I wonder if it will be trimmed down for production.

That motif is going to look kind of silly for the Clone Wars line though, IMHO. (Oppress arc or not)

The Vintage Collection / Re: How Much is Too Much?

The thing that worries me though is that I've just completed my 9th Star Wars collection liquidation for a fellow collector's X-wife. I hear the story over and over how boxes and boxes of stuff just keep arriving at the house all addressed to him and no where to put them. Pretty soon simple things like telephone service and electricity get turned off. She has no idea what is going on. She finds out that they have a huge credit card bill and no money in the bank. This goes on for a while and the family get separated. She comes to me to help sell his Star Wars collection. We typically get about 45-55% of the retail price of the stuff. The older stuff like EP1 is given away to charity. She is trying to rebuild her and her children's life and he is living with some friends or his parents. Another family destroyed. Of course, there were other reasons for the divorse but being burried in stormtroopers with no lights pushes things in that direction really well.

That is sad, but I have to ask - how did she come to acquire custody of (and the accompanying rights to sell) HIS collection? Was this part of some kind of court-ordered settlement? Did he sign off on that idea? Or was this more of a punitive action on her part?

Thanks, Greg, it does seem like an odd process over there.

I can now report that both BP's are now available to Pre-Order, they must have updated sometime in the past 90 minutes. I went ahead and snagged the Army of the Republic pack for $30.94 total after discount (HTS10) so that's not so terrible. I'll save that much on gas just by skipping the store blitz for this thing.

For the love of God though, please put up that BARC w/Jesse deluxe set!  ;D

I looked over these things at TRU yesterday. They are god-awful. The 12" version or whatever that talks had me laughing out loud. I mean, how do you mis-pronounce THOR?!?! IT'S ONE FREAKING SYLLABLE! How does a Norse God talk with a Bristish accent? ("I...AM...THAWR") Where's the hat with wings?

I hate to play the bitter old man card yet again, but will they every make a comic book movie that actually resembles the comic it is based on?

Conventions / Re: Pittsburgh's "Steel City Con" Toy & Collectible Show
« on: February 24, 2011, 10:23 AM »
Stupid question here - do they do this thing every other month or something? I feel like every time I turn around this show is going on. Aren't most conventions this size usually an annual affair?

Does Pennsylvania just have a high # of toy freaks or does it draw from all over? I lived in PA for almost four years but I have no recollection of it being a major toy hub. That was awhile ago though.

Sounds like a fun time!

So what exactly does "Coming Soon" mean anyway?

I don't recall ever seeing that before on HTS, but I do seem to recall them doing pre-orders for certain items. Why wouldn't they allow that here? Does this imply it is an item further out in terms of anticipated arrival date?

How long do you guys think it will be before these are actually In Stock? Days/weeks?

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wave Wave 21 (Spring 2011 Wave 2)
« on: February 23, 2011, 07:25 PM »
This wave was in stock at Toy Maniacs today for about five seconds. By the time I found out and got on there to order they were all sold out except for new look Anakin, which is the least interesting figure of the wave, IMO.

I hope they make it to HTS soon...

Hmm.  I paid about $150 for mine.  If they're going for that much, it just might be time to sell it.

PM me.  ;)

I gotta have the legit one...I have passed on a couple the past year and regretted it. It's one of the only variants left on my List.

Star Wars The Clone Wars Battle Packs: Army of the Republic  now listed as coming soon on HTS with pictures available to check it out

A repack of this Star Wars The Clone Wars Battle Packs: Rishi Outpost Attack is also now listed as coming soon on HTS with pictures available to check it out

Thanks Jeff, good intel. I noticed this was also just listed as In Stock at EE, but the $28.99 price tag is too brutal. I'm down with one from HTS though.

I realize it would be too violent for this show, but I really, really wish they would show him actually ripping someone's arms out of their sockets. Chewie comes off as too cuddly in the movies I think, I would dig some actual wookie-rage.

For what it's worth, there is at least one unconfirmed report circulating that this has been spotted at Wal-Mart here in the States. (St Louis)

I am skeptical but it may be worth keeping an eye out for this on the shelves.

I don't know what the heck they are doing with their mid-size vehicles anymore, but their distribution certainly seems to be a mess right now.

They'll probably show up after April, once all the Clone Cash has expired.  ::)

Something I caught interesting was when Anakin said that if the Separatists caught ahold of the Nexus Routes (the hyperspace lanes that were so important), then they could gain access to Coruscant. If Filoni plays his cards right and ends this arc with the Separatists getting ahold of those routes, then it'll tie in directly to the original CW series and ROTS with the Separatist attack on Coruscant... seriously, I hope that's how this arc ends.

I was thinking the same would dove-tail nicely with the abduction of Palps. But even moreso I was thinking how absurd the whole concept of "hyperspace lanes" is...I mean, WTF? How is that even possible conceptually?

I thought it was a great episode..I really love everything they do with the backgrounds, landscapes, etc. The animation is really top notch in places. Agreed this was great fodder for new figures too...ARCs, Tarkin, Piell, the Warden, EV-9D9, etc.

The carbon freezing thing didn't bug me too much, and it was kind of a cool goof that they threw in the Ugnaught. i thought it was way more of a stretch that some impenetrable, high security fortress like that would just allow in an unannounced, unscheduled shuttle that just happens to show up with food supplies.

is there anyone else even imprisoned there? Seems like a big waste of money to design a prison to hold Jedi and just keep one dude there. From Anakin's comment, the Citadel seemed like something that pre-dated the Clone Wars, maybe even designed by the Jedi themselves. And they had at least 2-3 heavy cruisers orbiting above the planet too!

The only thing that struck a false note with me really was Tarkin, which was a disappointment. I don't think the voice actor really captured his inflection or mannerisms at all. Plus he came off as a complete whiny a-hole. I get they wanted to create some friction with Anakin, but it seemed forced and out of character to me. Maybe there is more to the story here though. I almost wonder if he isn't some kind of traitor or double agent. He seemed VERY keen on sticking with Piell so that all the info would be in one place and easily obtained upon capture. You could actually see his eyes narrow in anger when Piell rejects his plan.

Are they off this week?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Firefly / Serenity

No one's going to invest any sort of serious money back into that show for two reasons... First, it's already flopped once.  Second, the best part about it (Nathan Fillion) isn't leaving his big-time ABC show to come back to a previously-failed Sci-Fi show.

Actually, if you read the EW articles Jeff references above, the show pulled a 2.0 average rating, which is very passable in today's TV landscape. So the show actually had some legs. It's the movie that flopped.

And Nathan already said he would love to buy the rights to Firefly and resurrect it, even as an online series.

The real problem would be getting Whedon back on board. And probably Adam "Chuck" Baldwin. Morena could be available soon, as could Summer. (although I hope not as I love their current respective series)

Zam was played by Leeanna Walsman...she is not Asian

Thanks, I was too lazy to Google her, so I made sure to note this was just my recollection. I haven't watched those movies since the DVD's first came out, and if I have no interest in watching them again really.

When Hasbro's stuff gets to be as expensive as Sideshow's stuff, I may be out.

Until then though, I'm not going anywhere.
