How did this get past Tunghori?

Can we get unannounced TCW figures from China now too? Where do I sign up?

But why not just be patient, instead? You said yourself you got a couple new vehicles from HTS cheaper than retail. I, myself, got the Droid Gunship and Xanadu Blood for like $18 each in early December. What you were proposing paying BBTS was pushing $30 a vehicle, taking into account half of the case has been out forever. So, when you think about it, you're paying an even-higher premium for the new vehicles. By paying it, you also support that ridiculous pricing.
Relax, monitor the reports around your area and, when they get close, then search more intensely.

I think you misunderstood me. I'm definitely not planning on buying anything off point is more that if it shows up there, it can't be too far off from places like HTS or SWS or whateves, where it actually can be obtained for essentially what you'd pay at retail. I'm definitely NOT advocating paying premium prices out of sheer impatience.

I think there's potential middle ground there that offers good opportunities - you're getting the stuff before it hits retail so you save time and hassle on that end, but you're waiting just long enough for it to hit the more mainstream sites with less overhead and the ability to charge less than the early arrival gouging prices.

This is exactly what I did with the Tri-Fighter and HMP, and I couldn't be happier with the decision.

The continued homages to other sci-fi properties is both amusing and gratifying.

Hands down the best scene maybe of the whole series ever was the Tactical Droid replying to Dooku "By Your Command" - EPIC.

And you gotta love the old Fremen "Water Of Life" schtick. Night-Sisters = Bene Gesserit?

After watching it again in HD this morning, the episode was even better the second time around. They always score big with the space battles, and the opening sequence did not disappoint in that regard. Heck, we got some nice screen time for the Tri-Fighters!

The hangar deck duel was very well done but it's the same old complaint - she should not have fared even that well against two of the best Jedi in the galaxy. And the force choke? No way dude, a Jedi Master would have a ready defense for that jazz. That should have been a lot more of a lop-sided battle than it was. Either that or Yoda was just lying and the Dark Side really IS stronger.

Guess we've seen the last of the erstwhile Fanblade Fighter? It will be missed.

How can you be Big-Shot Sith Lord and you feel all these disturbances all the time but you can't tell if Asajj is dead or not? That's some weak sauce.

What's with the lame ass security in Dooku's Fortress of Solitude? Could it have been any easier for them to have gotten in? Maybe mix in a motion detector or pheremone sensor, bro. Or even a scary dog, I mean WTF?

All the Dathomir stuff was way cool, although they obviously took some liberties with how it was all portrayed. The interior sets of the temple were insanely interesting. I really liked the rendering of the Nightsisters too. They have to make a Battlepack with Talzin, Asajj, and the other 2 warriors though. How cool was that laser-bow?

Not sure about the Asajj backstory, it does seem rather incomplete and derivative. At least they didn't blow up the Tartakovsky continuity totally.

You have to wonder ultimately how she will survive the war. She seems pretty hell bent on killing Dooku, and since we all know that never happens, it stands to reason she gets offed by the time ROTS has started.

I agree you'd get raped on buying a case of these things, but you could come out alright picking up 1-2 at a time courtesy of HTS. I got both the Tri-Fighter and HMP for less than what they would have cost at retail.

I'm just tired of waiting for new stuff...if I can get it early and save time and hassles driving around looking for stuff in vain, that's the way to go, IMO.

I'm officially psyched for tonight. I feel like this is the "real" premiere and that whole schtick last year was just a bad dream.

Don't let me down Hollywood!

I'm reading an awful lot of comments elsewhere concerning the inclusion of the original theatrical cuts. Seems like this is going to be a deal breaker if Lucas doesn't squeeze them in. I'm inclined to agree. I'd sooner have the originals (my favorites) in hi-def, warts and all, than to settle for the edit-du-jour.

Definitely a deal-breaker for me as well...they HAVE to include those as far as I'm concerned. There's no good reason for them not to with all those extra hours of features.

On the brighter side, there will be no Black Hole movie.  ;)

I agree that is good news, otherwise they would have inevitably ruined what was a stellar motion picture sci-fi epic of its day.

They would have recruited actors about half the age of the original cast, turned VINCENT and Maximillian into CGI abominations, and completely re-written a perfectly serviceable script with none of the targedy or pathos of the original.

Also, one of the best soundtracks ever.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 20 (aka 2011 Wave 1?)
« on: January 7, 2011, 11:13 AM »
This Wave is In Stock now at BBTS, and there is indeed no listing for Hondo.

I am hoping this means they will start showing up at retail before too long, although the way the pegs are filled around here I'm not sure they'll even get stocked right away.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that Target will probably be the first to get these, since they had the Embo wave first and Walmart got the Vos wave first. TRU is hopefully out of the picture because their prices are just stupid.

FYI, this is In Stock now at BBTS, but only as part of the larger case assortment. For some reason you can't order the thing by itself.

I will probably have to order this the online route because the previous TCW vehicle wave (Tri-Fighter and HMP) has not even hit retail yet so this is probably at least another month or two out. Dammit.  >:(

Sandtroopers has a pic of geonosian w/speederbike.  I didn't know bugs rode bikes?

There's actually a separate thread for this TRU Exclusive a little ways down in this forum.

They did a great job snagging a sneak peek, but I wish the picture was a little bigger so we could get some more detail on the Drone. I am fascinated to know how this is different from the Target 2-pack version coming out later this year.

Was wondering when we would get the official announcement today...excellent.

I just hope this doesn't give Hasbro an excuse to go on another four month hiatus in anticipation of the big "relaunch".  ::)

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2011: What Are You Collecting?
« on: January 4, 2011, 12:56 PM »
Looking forward to a shifting focus this year. Toys have dominated the discretionary spending the past 18 months, but I'm ready to jump back into the other collectibles I have been ignoring.

1) STAR WARS: Sticking with the TCW line again strictly this year. I was able to resist the lure of TVC last year, and I was also able to close out 98% of my Vintage needs, so hopefully this means less spending all around this year. Not planning on any forays into GG, Sideshow, etc. so I'm good there. Maybe this will be the year I bite the bullet and go all-out on the Droids/Ewoks lines.

2) OTHER TOYS: At some point, I want to complete my modern and vintage Micronauts collection. The time might be right. Mulling the vintage BSG stuff as well, as I had it all as a kid. And I still need that damn Cloverfield toy!

3) COMICS: Trying to stay away from new stuff, although Metalocalypse is very tempting, but I still have some old titles to fill out...have really been getting busy with the Darkchylde variant covers recently, as the film has finally been green-lit for John Carpenter. Still trying to pick up those last couple of FF's I need to, although this gets harder and harder as time goes by.

4) DVD's: The smallest slice of my discretionary spending pie. Here's hoping it stays that way, although the transition to Blu-Ray has bumped up the prices quite a bit. Maybe OT or PT on Blue ray this year?

5) CD's: Just waaaay too many to count now, well over 200 on my want list. For every new thing I buy, they seem to re-issue something I already have with bonus tracks so I end up having to buy it again. Man, I hate that trend.
