Got my MIB and opener sets of the Attack Recon Fighter and Republic Assault Submarine today.

Both are GREAT sets, it's just too bad that these probably won't ever be actually seen at retail, thanks to the stupid move of repacking 1999 toys at 2012 prices.

So did you end up ordering them online? Apparently these were only spotted in Texas and one random Walmart in Atlanta.  ::) I kept waiting for the eventual spread of other sightings but they never came.

I have a feeling I am never going to see these things either.

Reminds me of that old Rodney Dangerfield line:

"The other night I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out..."

$50 for four figures? I don't think so.

co-sign. I'll just wait til they show up at stores...sometime in July or August, judging by the pace the current junk is moving.  ::)

It's amazing how quickly Hasbro managed to kill any sense of enthusiasm I had for this line.

The most exciting part of Clone Wars collecting now is finding old stuff being clearanced at the discount stores. That's sad.

Picked up the SOTDS Republic Scout Speeder at Marshall's today for $5.99. They also had the set with the battle droid, but not as enticing. Would love to find the Wheelbike with Grievous if that one should turn up.

I don't watch many movies anymore, but I did recently make time for last year's remake of The Thing, which (SPOILER ALERT!) actually turns out to be a nifty bookend prequel to the Carpenter version. I liked that a lot. The movie itself was ok, not an embarrassment to the franchise at all. I thought the conception of the actual alien in (presumably) its unaltered state was pretty cool.

Somewhat less satisfying was Darkest Hour, which I watched last night. Aliens are somehow just less exciting when they're invisible.

I saw footage from the Red Carpet Premiere last night.

WTF was Charlie from LOST doing there? Is that little weasel actually IN this movie? Dude must lead a charmed life...so far the only project he's been involved with that hasn't been an epic success was Flash Forward. (ugh)

I found a TM this afternoon next to a Marshall's, but they had nada for SW, other than 2 Clone Trooper helmets. :(

Saw the Thanos/Warlock set at Target this morning too. Something about Warlock's deco looked off to me, but it might be a more modern rendering than what I recall.

I'm all set to see:

  • Tenacious D

Where you seeing the D? Have they announced an official tour yet? I saw there is a new album coming out next month. If there's East Coast dates, color me there.

I like that they rereleased Aayla. I already have her, so skip. Just need Boss and new Rex. Isn't Obi-Wan different too?

Yes, Obi-Wan is different too...improved facial sculpt I believe.

That's awesome, Nick! Definitely not an isolated occurrence then.

I made a few late night Walmart runs last night in the hopes of finding some of the new Class I sets but nada.

Is anyone surprised that teams target players that have had recent injuries? The Giants went after the same 49'ers KR with the concussion and caused two fumbles because of it which led directly to them winning that game.

I don't mean to sound as if I'm advocating cheap shots or dirty play, I just think if you're playing all-out within the confines of the rules, and you're trying to "kill the QB" that's ok. Not literally kill him, but hitting the guy as hard as you possibly can? Sure. And guys can talk about not wanting to hurt other guys but when you're in that situation you have to sort of concede that is a likely result, don't you?

"Hi, I'm a 320 pound defensive tackle who outweighs you by over a hundred pounds and I'm going to slam into you with as much physical force as I can muster while you're in a relatively defenseless position, BUT I'M NOT TRYING TO HURT YOU AT ALL."

Some of the violence from the 60's and 70's would probably blow people's minds today. You want to talk about physical brutality? Watch some old tape of Dick Butkus or Night Train Lane. They were trying to lay guys out, no joke.  And they weren't looking for payouts either, dudes were just flat out mean.

Anyway, just my two cents, not trying to be a pot-stirrer or anything, I don't even follow the game that closely anymore. I can understand and respect that this stuff is pretty repulsive to a lot of people. I guess I'm just jaded in that respect.

Sweet carbonated Jesus, perseverance finally pays off!

I rolled by TRU over lunch today even though I knew they were not due for a truck. I recall seeing a post from somebody else recently, not here I think, that found a case of Deluxe sets with the Scout Bomber at TRU a few weeks back. And I remember the same thing happened with the last toy I had never seen at any retail outlet - those cruddy Red/White BP's that showed up months after I had been forced to order them online via HTS. TRU got a buttload of them way after the fact.

So anyway, I walked in and sure enough, there was a whole fresh case of SOTDS Deluxe sets, including a minty Y-Wing Scout Bomber that I immediately snatched up for $18.99. Crazy.

Definitely might be worth your mileage to sniff around for some of these showing back up at TRU...really glad I held out and never resorted to getting gouged on this thing via the secondary market.

Also happy because this keeps my streak alive of having seen every Clone Wars toy on the shelves at least once.

Class I Sets Waves 2 & 3 In Stock now at EE.

Still no sign of these hitting locally, but I was lucky enough to score a Y-Wing Scout Bomber today at TRU, so life is Good.  ;D
