Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Ye Olde Nintendo
« on: September 19, 2003, 03:41 PM »
Great topic, the original NES was a great system.  I actually have my old one hooked up in our spare bedroom as well.  A lot of great memories with that system.  It might have been the fact that we were kids, but even with all of the graphical advances, etc. of the new systems, I almost think my friends and I had the most "fun" with the old NES.  Hours upon hours of Tecmo Bowl, I can tell you that for sure.  I still have fun playing that game.  Don't get me wrong, the new games are pretty spiffy too, and we never had anything like Rogue Leader on that old system either ;).  Anyways, the NES was and still is a great system to just have fun with I think.  A lot of great games like the ones you mentioned....I also remember Castlevania, Mega Man, Kid Icarus, Mario, and of course Star Wars.

12" Figures / Re: Your 12" Figure Collection .
« on: September 19, 2003, 03:35 PM »
My 12" collection is pretty scarce, but I don't have the room for it anyways.  All I have is Stormtrooper Luke, Stormtrooper Han, Endor Han, and Dagobah Luke w/Yoda.  I also have the new 12" Yoda (or 6" I guess), preordered through Kebco.  There are a lot of great figures in this line, but I've pretty much limited myself to 3 3/4" for now.  Nice collections everyone though!

The Original Trilogy / Re: Trilogy out on dvd 2004?
« on: September 19, 2003, 02:25 PM »
I really hope (like all of you), that this ends up being true.  I can't wait for the OT to finally be released on DVD.  I have the same complaints as you about the special editions as well.  It would be great if extras like "From Star Wars to Jedi" were included in the set, I loved watching that when I was a kid.  It used to be on TV around here from time to time.  I think it would be neat to see the old trailers and/or some deleted scenes as well...but who knows what we will end up getting.

Thanks dustrho...we actually have Menards around here too, so I'll head there on our next trip.  Thanks for the advice, and your collection looks great :).

TV-9D9 / Re: Download Clone Wars commercial
« on: September 19, 2003, 02:18 PM »
I agree, I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of Star Wars cartoon after the movies are over.  Just a nice way for some of us to get our "fix" without new movies, and maybe without messing up any continuity either.  I remember in one of my Insider magazines, one of the main guys involved with the Clone Wars cartoon (name escapes me right now), said he would love to do a Han and Chewie cartoon when the Clone Wars stuff is done with.  Anything would be pretty cool, I do hope they release these on DVD as well.

Collections / Re: dustrho's collection
« on: September 19, 2003, 02:13 PM »
dustrho...great collection pics.  I had a question for you, do you happen to know where you got those white shelving pieces that much of your collection is displayed on?  I noticed them on the pictures at your site, and I really need to do something different with my collection (need more room, a long time ago)..and was thinking of something like this.  Are you happy with it, and is it somewhat affordable?

Other Toy Lines / Re: Lord of the Rings: Armies of Middle Earth
« on: September 19, 2003, 12:41 PM »
I've really been having trouble deciding which line to collect, Toy Biz, or Armies of Middle Earth.  Since I don't have any LOTR collectibles so far, I'm starting from scratch and could go either way.  I have always wanted a few TB figures, but the AOME are appealing due to a space issue with my collections, and being able to get three figures for about the same price as one 6" figure.  I'm not sure what to do, but both lines are looking great lately...and easy to find thanks to KBtoys.com.  Do any of you prefer one line over the other?

I couldn't wait for ROTK last year after seeing TTT, but watching the DVD recently (as well as the preview on that disc), has really got me ready for this movie.  It was nice only having these movies a year apart, so we don't have to wait quite as long :).  Thanks for the links, pics, etc. guys!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Avoiding Spoilers
« on: September 19, 2003, 10:34 AM »
At this point I'm not sure what I want to do.  When Episode II was in production and rolling, I'll admit I read ever bit of spoilage there was...and I can't really say it hurt my appreciation of the movie any, but maybe it did.  I originally thought I would steer clear of Episode III news, and let the movie be more of a surprise...but that hasn't really happened so far.  I'm a Hyperspace subscriber, and I've read all of the spy reports so far.  Maybe if I didn't have access to the internet all day long it would be easier :).

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Tarkin
« on: September 19, 2003, 10:32 AM »
That is a great picture.  Always nice to see another OT character make an appearance to bridge these movies together...and one that makes "sense" to show up as well.  The resemblance is pretty good I think...can't wait for 2005 :).

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: "Office Space"
« on: September 19, 2003, 09:28 AM »
This is one of my all-time favorites as well.  One of my best friends and I have worked in an office/company quite similar to the one in this movie, so we get a kick out of it.  Its funny how true a lot of that stuff is.  "Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays..." :)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Future Waves?
« on: September 18, 2003, 04:56 PM »
Thanks for the posts everyone, it is a lot of fun speculating/hearing what might be coming next year.  I really think that 2004 is going to be a tremendous year for Star Wars collectors, from what we have seen and heard so far.  I was curious, in case I missed it, but packaged images of the Concept Stormie/Bail Organa, Tatooine Padme, Dignitary, Club Obi, Elan Sleazebaggano, etc...and the rest of the 2003 figures have not shown up yet have they?  I guess I don't mind if they hold off a little bit longer, I still have some catching up to do, but I was just curious.  That is the next wave isn't it?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How many stores do you hit on your toy runs?
« on: September 18, 2003, 04:29 PM »
Unfortunately, the town we live in isn't large enough for these stores...but when we go on our "shopping" trips (about 40 minutes away), here's the rundown of what I check out usually.

1 Super Wal-Mart (Not much recently though, mostly old stock of all the lines...they do have a TON of Marvel Legends figures as of late though)
1 Greatland Target (this just opened recently, has been pretty well stocked with most lines)
1 TRU (giant wall of Pilot Jangos in the SW section, but got an Unleashed Luke there)
1 K-B (this store usually has nothing, and we don't always stop there)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Hoth 4-pack!
« on: September 18, 2003, 04:25 PM »
I also got my set from Amazon yesterday, and my Tauntaun had the broken horn as well.  This is the only one of these packs I've picked up so far, but I think it is worth the money.  I didn't have a Tauntaun in my collection, so that was enough for me, and the figures are pretty good too.  My Leia doesn't look too bad either, paint doesn't seem to be too bad at least.
