Other Toy Lines / Re: Modern Masters of the Universe
« on: January 5, 2004, 11:43 AM »
Yeah, I noticed this past weekend as well that there was no space at Target for MOTU.  The one we frequent also had gone through its resets, and had a lot of spaces for other new stuff (ML5 was there, Spidey 2 figs, a few Ultra figs but now Wampa :(, and others.  The MOTU figures they did previously have are now in the clearance aisle.  I'm still just mainly keeping my eyes open for a Roboto, otherwise I have really cooled off on this line.  Plus, I really don't have the space for it I think its just going to be Roboto (hopefully), and I'm done with it.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Burger King Glasses Figures!!!!!!
« on: January 5, 2004, 09:08 AM »
I'm kind of disappointed with the figure selection here too, but I guess its not much different than what many of us expected.  The glasses are kind of nice, and different than the old ones, so I will probably pick most of these up if I see them.  I'm kind of happy to see they aren't exact duplications of the vintage glasses....just nice to see those have something "special" about them still, and not be duplicated.  I know many people aren't crazy about these, but I was always pretty fond of the glasses when I was a kid, so maybe they just have that nostalgic value for me.  The figures aren't that great really...but I guess I never did pick up that Slave Leia, and I don't have a Snowspeeder Luke either.  Wonder if we'll end up getting a glass for Episode III too, to "complete" the set.

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: Distribution of Clone Wars Wave 3
« on: January 2, 2004, 02:54 PM »
Personally, I have not seen this wave at all around me.  But, to be fair, I only get to the stores about once a week.  My wife and I live at least 40 miles away from any Target, Wal-Mart, or TRU.  We usually get somewhere once a week, and I'll check the pegs...but I have never seen any sign of this wave.  I did see the Mace/Obi/Asajj wave awhile back at Wal-Mart, but ended up leaving them.  I'd really like to find a couple of those SA clones though, hopefully Hasbro will be smart and recard/rerelease that figure......I don't think those would ever pegwarm.

The Target that we frequent has revamped their toy aisle as well now.  They had lots of Spidey 2 stuff, as well as more pegs for the Star Wars line.  I was able to pick up Colossus here as well, and they had many of the other ML 5 figures there too (Sabretooth, Surfer, Mr. Fantastic).  I haven't opened Colossus yet, but it sure looks great....I really think you get a pretty fair value for the $6.94.

I was able to find the lone remaining Ultra 3PO yesterday at Target.  It looks like they have redone Target's toy section, as there were more pegs for SW figs (including pegs for the Animated series figs).  The only figures this particular Target had though were 2 Secret Ceremony Anakins (new cards), 2 Ultra Rieekans, and this one 3PO.  I was happy to find it though, the search continues for Hoth Luke and the Wampa :).  It really seems like, at least in this area, that SW figures are really selling well....very little hanging on the pegs.  The last time I picked up a R-3PO (couple weeks ago), there were several Dignitaries and Achk Med-Beqs hanging on the pegs, and those were long gone yesterday as well.  Glad to see that it is selling well, its just getting tough to find things :P.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Official Christmas 2003 Score Thread
« on: December 31, 2003, 02:30 PM »
I didn't receive a whole lot of Star Wars bounty, but there isn't much out around here new.  Some highlights from my Christmases:

several hooded sweatshirts (one of my favorite things to wear)
100 Years of Husker Football book
Star Wars art picture (with Han, Chewie, Luke, Leia, Vader, R2, 3PO, and Lando)
LOTR: FOTR Extended Edition (finally, now on to TTT)
Star Wars Rebel Strike and NBA Live 2004 for Gamecube
other clothes, all of which I liked actually
a couple of different gift cards

the best gifts are always from my wife, she knows me so well.  I don't really care if I get gifts at all, its just nice to spend time with loved ones, celebrate the true meaning, relax, and not have to work for a few days.  Hope you all had a great Christmas!

Yeah, from what I have read recently regarding this site, it doesn't look like they are exactly getting the glowing reviews anymore.  I was going to order the Hoth figures from them, but decided not to since it was just before Christmas.  It has sounded like it is hit and miss for them, some people are quite happy...others, not so much.  Hopefully they can get things figured out, they have some decent online prices, and did have the newer stuff in stock all the time before...however, their site has been down for quite awhile now.  I was hoping to be able to get Hoth Luke and Wampa through them, since I seem to be missing them around here (as well as the ultra 3PO), but I think I'll wait to see what experiences others have, it doesn't sound real promising right now.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Endor Wave Official
« on: December 29, 2003, 03:42 PM »
I just got my Insider this afternoon as well, and there really are some great images posted in there of some of the upcoming figures.  Like Jesse James said, not too much new really other than the Han and the Red 1.  They did confirm the Target glasses in there, and have a picture of the Obi-Wan glass with figure that was posted a little while back.  It does say the glasses are plastic, in case anyone was wondering.  Looking at the pictures again of these previously announced figures, 2004 really looks to be a banner year for collecting, at least in my opinion.  Sculpts look great, articulation is improved as a whole, and lots of OT figures.  Now if we are all able to find them in stores, all will be right with the universe  ;).

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Endor Wave Official

Although I am happy that there is a "new" Han being released, since he's my favorite character, I am in the boat with those of you who would much rather have had an "ultimate-ish" Endor Han.  I have both the buff POTF2 Han, and the craptastic action feature version from Saga, and neither one is very impressive to me.  When we first heard rumor of an Endor Han, I was really hoping it was a regular version of him, articulated well, with working holster and removable trenchcoat.  Hopefully this figure will still come eventually though, maybe there is another Endor wave with all the Ewok rumors we have heard, we'll see I guess.  I'm still happy to get this figure though, like many have said, its good for those who customize as well.

It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true.  These characters could be interesting.  I personally am a big fan of this line, and am always interested to see the new releases...but I am a little curious why they aren't going for a few more "main" characters before these.  I guess I'm a little surprised they went with background characters in this line, I'm not complaining, just surprised.  Hopefully pics will surface soon in the new year.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Major DVD Release List for Fall '03/Winter '04
« on: December 23, 2003, 11:22 AM »
I guess this isn't technically "release news", but this is the first actual "official" information I have seen regarding the Seinfeld DVD sets. According to this article, they're coming, but unfortunately George (Jason Alexander), Elaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Kramer (Michael Richards) will not be participating in any way, shape, or form:
