Got my Throne of Ultron and Sam Wilson as Captain America SDCC Exclusives today. The Throne of Ultron set is pretty cool glad to have it in my collection. The Sam Wilson Captain America Mini-figure is really nice too. I'm looking forward to him being copied by the Chinese companies so I can have one to display w/o the clamshell packaging...

Got the Mini-build Dagobah set from 2015 SDCC in the mail and put it together today - cute little set. Goes nicely with the Mini-build Tatooine set. Curious to see when the next set comes out, maybe for NYCC? and what location from ROTJ it will be, maybe Ewok Village?

Agreed, great summary Jeff.

I had pretty much forgotten about what Midnight Madness was like - especially since the last major one was 10+ years ago.

Back in 2005, I did the midnight madness at Toys R Us, then after getting "done" there, I immediately went across the street to sit outside of the Target. Right before they opened, my wife joined me so I'd have a 2nd person to help me get an opener of Lava Reflection Vader, and then once "done" there, I went over to WalMart so I could get the Modern Early Bird Kit.

The funny thing is that SO MUCH of this stuff was produced, none of it ended up being hard to get in the days that followed. Toys R Us ran out of Dagger Squad B-Wings but got PLENTY in eventually, in fact I even scored a 2nd opener eventually on deep clearance, Target eventually had pegs of Lava Reflection Vader, and WalMart had stacks and stacks of that Early Bird Kit.

So in addition to the "where should I go" and "what can I expect" questions, the "how much has been produced" question is also important.

From what I have seen NOTHING has been produced in any great quantity anymore, production runs are a fraction of what they were 10 years ago and we are definitely back to a post-EP1 "buy it when you see it or else you may never see it again" environment with many cases the situation being that you don't see certain products EVER.

So IMHO, what we saw (or didn't see) at SDCC should be an indicator of just that - buy what you see, if you see it, cause the way things were back in 2005 is LONG gone.

My hope is that we'll get a better idea of what exclusives are going to be where closer to Force Friday and then beyond that all other purchases can be handled via online retailers. I might still do the Midnight Madness, but not if all it'll get me is a wave of 12 5POA figures, that will be easier to buy by the case.

Reel?  What's a reel?

With most movies being digital, I don't know that a worker even needs to go in and push play.  I think their system can tell if someone bought a ticket to a screening, and starts the film automatically.

Very good point. Showing my age I guess...  :-[

I'm sure you could cleary see what was going on from where the film was being played from.  I would have at least thought they would have questioned him after the show but no dice.

You probably could. Unfortunately, that's assuming someone is up there.

I've been at movies where the sound/focus are totally messed up and you're sitting there thinking "someone is gonna notice and fix it" and then had to run out into the lobby looking for ANYONE who could go up to the booth and fix it. I think these days, the projectors are so automatic, they literally make sure the reel is spooled up, flip a switch and leave the booth...

Picked up the new 2015 sets this week:
Naboo Starfighter
Flash Speeder
Imperial Shuttle Tydirium
Death Star Final Duel
Imperial Assault Carrier

Great collection of sets, the only one I haven't put together yet is the Naboo Fighter. I'm not sure when it comes out but the new Sith Infiltrator looks interesting, not quite sure how it differs from the one we got just a few years ago though.

I'm really looking forward to the Force Awakens sets... I guess they're only 2 months away at this point...

I still need convincing that the first four offer enough "newness" to them over the previous issues of these sets.  Has anyone seen, or done a comparison of old vs. new.  I'd be interested in your thoughts Pete if you have them both handy.

For the Flash Speeder and Naboo Starfighter, the only versions of those that I had were the ones from 1999/2000 - I wasn't collecting Lego Star Wars from 2001 through 2011, so I did not get the Naboo fighter that came with the SOTDS branding.

As far as I'm concerned there are HUGE differences (obviously) between the original releases of these vehicles and these 2015 versions.

For the Shuttle - I didn't have this vehicle at all, so it was a great opportunity to pick it up. I *WISH* I had grabbed the UCS Shuttle back when I saw it at Toys R Us four years ago when I was getting back into Lego.

The Final Duel set is like a bigger version of the section of the Death Star from the Death Star Playset, it's a nice display piece, but kinda dull IMHO, so if you're already on the fence about it, I would pass. The new Darth Vader helmet is kinda cool tho.

I saw the 3.75" Antman w/Flying Ant at Toys R Us this week too - I had totally missed that this was coming out, so I appreciated getting the heads up on the release on this thread. IMHO a great set for price ($19.99).

I'm impressed Pete, you kept the clam shells. Did you name them all?  ;) Around here we have R9-Rachel and R8-Princess.

Nope - haven't named any of my Disney Build-a-Droids. Someday maybe - I have plenty of sticker sheets to do so...

I bet there is a trash can with a lot of clam shells in it at Disney World. I hate how at Disneyland they make you put each droid in a clam shell to buy it because that is where the SKU price is. Seems like such a waste.

Actually, I got them all home thanks to the fact that other family members had space in their luggage.

 ;D

So, over $1200 worth of BAD.  You are hard core my friend!

I get a discount because I am a Disney Vacation Club member, I believe the discount is either 10% or 15%, so I did pay less than that. But more or less, yes.

Holy crap Pete - how many droids did you buy?

4 - Wave 1 Droids at Once Upon a Toy
108 - Wave 2 Droids at Tatooine Traders/Darth's Mall

It's amazing how you can get different stories. I was told by an employee at Downtown Disney that they were waiting for stock to sell through before switching over so they weren't sure when exactly the new Wave 2 parts would be available. This was on this past Thursday (June 11th). I was glad that they did still have the Wave 1 parts though as I was able to pick up a bunch of White w/Purple Bodies that I could use with the three new purple colored domes.

Here are some (not so great) pics of the Wave 2 set of domes that I was able to acquire:

R2s (or R2-like domes, I refuse to call an R2 dome an R7)

More R2s and the R3s

R4s & R5s

R6s & R7s

R8s & R9s

You'll notice that there are some droids on the Black w/Silver body from Wave 1, I also had a spare pair of the White w/Black Body from Wave 1 and the new Silver w/Black R9 dome looks great on both of those. The new Black w/Silver & Orange R5 dome is on a Black w/Gold & Silver body which uses the new torso combined with the Black w/Silver legs from Wave 1.

I also picked up some extras of the two R7s and the White w/Cyan R8 so that I could mix and match the bodies among the Wave 2 domes as well as bring in some dome/body combinations with the R7/R8 domes from Wave 1.

After all of the body combo shuffling, here are the resulting Wave 1 w/Wave 2 body parts I now have in my collection as well:

The White w/Yellow R6 on that Orange & White R7/R8 body is for "future expansion" - perhaps there there will be another Orange R7/R8 dome down the line I can put this body to go use with.

The flexibility of the colors this time leaves a lot to be desired. But what I do like most of all is the "set" of purple colored droids since there is now an R2, R3, R4, two R6s and an R9.

All total, I purchased 2x of 54 different droid designs, plus 4x droids with White w/Purple bodies from Wave 1. So this was a very expensive trip  ;D

I will try to take better pictures when I have more time...

Seeing pictures like this make me want to break from my current only "cannon" droid pledge. Just saw that my holo r2 was delivered today. Placed an order for a r2d60 which should arrive next week (hey looks like I broke my cannon pledge already). I'm liking that r4 d23 droid too, colors are interesting.

How did you order an R2D60? Did you use the Disney merchandise toll free number?

Has anyone seen/picked up the Kwik-E-Mart set yet? Is it even out? We don't have Lego stores around here so I am SOL on this one.

I grew up in Northern VA so maybe your location clues have me totally confused, but aren't there Lego stores both at Tysons Corner Mall and Potomac Mills Mall still?
