The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VIII
« on: June 23, 2014, 12:52 PM »
I really love Brick, and Brothers Bloom was really great too, but I'm not sold on the idea of Rian Johnson being the guy to take over Star Wars unless JJ Abrams is still going to be heavily involved.

Agreed re: taking over for JJ Abrams.

The only thing that this news report has me concerned about is that maybe Disney execs aren't happy with what JJ is doing and have plans on him being a one-and-done director.

Almost seems like they should be looking over to their corporate-cousins at Marvel and take what that team is doing RIGHT and put a Kevin Feige-type person in charge of the whole thing.

Picked up the Knowhere Escape Mission set - fun little set. Groot is a bit big compared to the mini-figures - but still very cool.

Also picked up the Iron Man 3 Malibu Mansion Assault set. I'm thinking about getting the other two Iron Man 3 sets as well. Even though I don't have the sets that came out for The Avengers - I think I might start picking up sets that are MCU-based. I already collect the Star Wars, Hobbit and Lord of the Rings lines - not sure I want to start with a fourth - but my thinking that the days of the LotR and Hobbit lines are numbered.... So maybe picking up another line wouldn't be that big of a deal.

LEGO / Re: Ghostbusters

I was shocked to see this set at my local Toys R Us yesterday.

I don't recall Toys R Us getting in any shipments of the BTTF DeLorean - maybe I they did and just missed it.

I heard there are problems with the instruction manual/collectors book that comes with the set - that the bindings fail and pages from the middle start to come out - so I'm going to hold off for a bit in hopes that later production runs of the set don't have that issue - if that does happen to you, I read on Brickset.com that Lego customer support will take your information and send you a replacement when they get new/better/fixed books made.

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars Hero Series Millennium Falcon

I don't need a two-foot paper weight.

Agreed - keep making things I don't want Hasbro! I'll have more money to spend on Lego!

I picked up the Starblaster Showdown set at my local Toys R Us today on the way home from work. Fun little set to build. I think I'm gonna pick up the Groot/Rocket set tomorrow. I don't collect the Marvel sets, but I can definitely get into collecting just the Guardians of the Galaxy sub-line sets. My local TRU has all three sets in stock. Might get the Milano set from Lego Shop since I have $20 in rewards waiting to be used...

Plus they kill Tom Cruise over and over again. What's not to like?

Hahaha +1!

I saw Edge of Tomorrow this evening with my wife. Not a "amazing" movie - but still a fun sci-fi popcorn flick.

While it is definitely like the Sci-fi/Starship Troppers version of Groundhog Day - the concept behind WHY he keeps repeating the same day is pretty cool - definitely helped me enjoy it a bit more than I thought I would going in.

Wave 5 Up for Pre-Order at EE

2x Darth Vader (Episode III)
2x Luke Skywalker (Jedi Training on Dagobah)
2x Yoda (Jedi Training on Dagobah)
2x Wedge Antilles (Hoth Pilot)
1x Snowtrooper Commander
1x Toryn Farr
1x Ree-Yees
1x Jabba's Skiff Guard Sgt. Doallyn

I have a Wave 4 case on order with EE and I ordered extra openers of Luke, Yoda, the Snowtrooper Commander and Toryn Farr via Amazon. I think I'll just pre-order a case of this wave from EE and cancel my Amazon order and then keep my fingers crossed I'm able to score openers of Ree-Yees and Doallyn somewhere...Maybe they'll be carry-forwards into the first wave of TIE Pilot packaged Black Series figures?

Horrible ratio of figures in that Wave 5 case... IF waves 4 and 5 hit stores, we will be swimming in Dagobah Luke figures by the end of this summer.

Middle Earth / Re: The Hobbit -LEGO
« on: June 12, 2014, 12:38 PM »
This past weekend (June 7-8), GameStop had a Lego-related event - which from the flyer, seemed to mostly center around having the Lego games on sale and then giving away some polybag mini figures - like for the Lego Movie - they had "Western" Emmett - and for Lego Hobbit they were giving away "Good Morning Bilbo Baggins"

I had already scored one off eBay, but on a lark I went into the Gamestop near where I work this afternoon and asked about the promotion. The guy behind the counter indicated that nobody came in for the Hobbit stuff and they freely gave me one of the Bilbo polybags - so now I have a spare.

If you have a Gamestop nearby, I recommend going in and asking if you're looking for this minifig.

If anyone is looking for this minifig and has either the Chrome Stormtrooper or White Boba Fett minifigs from a few years back that they'd be willing to trade for it, send me a PM.

LEGO / Re: Recent Acquisitions

My wife and parents teamed up and got me the Lego Super Star Destroyer for my birthday - it came back in stock for a brief period last week and they got it for me - so cross one more UCS/large SW set off my wish list... Can't wait to start putting it together, Vader's command ship was always one of my favorite designs from the OT.

But with the announcement of the new Rebels line, I may be screwed. That's going to be another one where I will get everything MOC/MISB. If this goes a couple of years it will present some real challenges. Something will have to go.  :(

I'm in the same boat - I have seven display cabinets with a vast majority of my loose figures and vehicles on display.

One cabinet each for Episodes 1,2,3,5 & 6; a Clone Wars cabinet and a cabinet dedicated to "the Empire".

I then have four two shelf barrister cabinets. Two of those house all of the non-Empire related EP4 stuff, and two more which I had waiting on "stand by" for future stuff ended up being used for Clone Wars overflow.

So now I'm seriously wondering "where the heck am I gonna put all the Rebels stuff?"

It does have me appreciating the fact that the line isn't as huge as it once was.

My Star Wars, LOTR & Hobbit Legos are an entirely different problem altogether  :-X

I've been seeing the 2nd wave of these hit pretty regularly at my local Toys R Us. Wave 2 is the Boba Fett's Slave I, Obi-Wan's Jedi Starfighter (Blue), Anakin's Jedi Starfighter (EU version of Obi-Wan's AOTC Red one in Yellow).

I picked up a set of three for my MIB collection. I'm gonna wait for coupons or rewards bucks or something to pick up my openers - if I get them at all.

When I first saw these, I guess in my mind the blue Jedi Starfighter looked more purple and they were doing Mace's ship in this smaller scale - I'm confused as to why Obi-Wan needed a 3rd ship in this line. If you're a kid and you have the 5POA Obi-Wan figure, how many vehicles does he need to fly around in? Same goes for Anakin really.

I can appreciate that Hasbro is trying to save money and re-use the molds they already paid for as shelf-filler - but why not give us new color schemes and release them as simply "Jedi Starfighter" and not give any ownership to the vehicle?

I would have much rather found the 3rd wave of Saga Legends figures (Jedi Luke, Snowtrooper, Clone Wars Obi-Wan & Darth Maul) - but I'm starting to think that those figures may never hit here in the US...

Official Trailer on YouTube

Not much in terms of actual game footage but I assume we'll see more this time next year.

Thanks for posting this link - I hadn't seen this yet.

Is it safe to assume that the Endor Rebel jumping on the speeder bike at the end was game play footage? Cause if so, that looked great!

I really enjoyed the other console two entries in this series (and even the PSP entries for what they were) - so I am keeping my fingers crossed that this will be epic.

I know it was posted on anotheR Site, but did anyone see this auction?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kenner-Star-Wars-1977-1984-action-Figure-80-lot-oiginal-vinatge-carded-set-Jedi-/251543742032?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3a912ce650

Asking price is a bit high for my taste  ;D

Would be awesome to be able to pick up a complete set like that. The only way it could be better is if the figures were on their original card backs.

Gotta laugh at the effort on that excuse.  I'm kinda getting a less sympathetic feeling for Ebays seller rules at the moment.

He'll 3rd graders are laughing at that effort.

Careful guys - JediJman is gonna come down on you for not believing the "dog ate my homework excuse" - it's exactly because of buyers like you guys who don't believe that dogs can eat homework that he left being an eBay seller.  ;)
