Time to start hitting Targets regularly for stuff other than exclusives I guess, eh Dave?  I was at Target on McKnight the other day and they have nothing short of 6 pegs filled with Neimodian Warriors.  I like the figure but that's obscene.

They also had 2 pegs of Palpatine, 1.5 pegs of Bail Organa, and the rest was a mix-match, but lots of open pegs if you condensed stuff.  I know this because I stood there and made whole pegs of Neimodians, Bails, Palpy's, etc...  I was bored and the kids were annoying me.

Can't wait for the Neimodians to hit clearance so I have a field day army building that.

What do you do when you find an attractive woman really really annoying?

Case in point: Rachel Ray from Food Network

I'm ETO fan so I actually dig the Americans Vs. Nazi's routine, however some British and Russians would certainly spice things up, and to say that we're short on Germans is nothing short of an understatement.  I saw the BotB figs at TRU during their first blitz and that was it.  Never seen them at WM and obviously never saw a German figure in a store unless it was online somewhere.

The Japanese ARE a step in the right direction, and that's what makes me hopeful for Brits and Russians.  If they covered the main groups, I'd be happy.  Some resistance guys (civilians, basically, with guns) would be cool too and I think they'd perhaps have some level of appeal, but it's kinda like Star Wars...

I think they should be redoing the 1st series Germans and U.S., and just continuously mix them in so they're available (especially riflemen), and then sneak these random guys in like SAS, red devils, Russian Infantry, Blackwatch...  Repaint some of the 1st series guys too for Afrika Korps troops and do some N. Africa British (new legs/shorts) and Americans...  The possibilities to do this, and do it cheaply (ala the Marrauders set) is there if they'd take the time to think about it.

I think Russians and British have some appeal, and I think resistance fighters would have some appeal as well, just slightly less broad.  As long as you have the basics out there though with Americans and Germans (and variations of them) then you've got a good base to sneak those odder things in now and then.

Welcome aboard Blaster_E11...  Of course I know your name from Scum, glad to see another familiar and welcome face from over there...  Enjoy the site, things are a bit different here but a lot of the posters are old-timers from other sites who just got fed up with how downhill things are elsewhere.

'round here we're all about the quality!

Yeah, their headsculpts are cool, lotsa extra gear and perhaps good parts for cusotmizing, however I'm not pleased with them as actual military figures.

Theyr'e cool for that brief period where a Paratrooper's dropping from the sky, but once the 82nd and 101st hit the ground they're dropping those chutes like mofo's, and 90% of that **** they were forced to lug along (if it wasn't ripped off in the drop).

To me the 82nd and 101st figures coming out (no drop gear) are the ultimate though.  If I could I'd buy all the chuted figures and just swap heads onto these other bodies just to make the combat ready figures.

At least BBI stuff shows up though.  That's more than I can say for 21st figures, as you know Ryan.  I can't find jack besides Marines around here.  Either the store is packed with Series 1 and 2 Marines or they're just not stocking XD figures at all.  I'm bummed because after the Japanese figs you sent, I know I want an army of these guys. :)  They're fantastic!

And god knows I need more BotB Germans...  I despise Wal-Mart like you wouldn't believe.  Their distribution is just F'd from start to finish.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Clone Troopers!

Thanks Matt...  Right now, none for Obi-Wan or Ani...  Mostly working on newer stuff, not older, but older's never ruled out, I just have a schedule I'm on right now and trying to keep with.

I've got other "Duel" reviews coming up though, just not of main characters.

The Clones were fun to review because it was basically Hasbro saying "Here's one for you and one for you", and that's a first for them I think.  They really actually did something right for once with that...  If they'd done something like this (Collection 1 and 2 Ani's or Obi's right at the start) I think it would've been really great actually.  Pilot Obi-Wan released with, say, Mustafar Duel Obi-Wan...

My only clone complaint currently is that I can't find variations for the life of me.  Pilot and Commander aside (though I am seeing the Commander here and there, just not a lot), the Red Shocktrooper is nothing short of a frustration to pick up and if that's where the #6's tooling is being devoted, you'd think you'd see this figure a lot more.  I dunno.

Vator, where the hell did you go?

Anyway, new pics of new BBI World War II figures have surfaced as they hit TRU shelves as well.  There's D-Day (really simply generic actually) Infantry guys which look great, and 2 Para's as well (sans their jump gear).  The Infantry just are stunning looking, and the Para's are as well (Pathfinder and 101st regular I think, not sure).  I really want to army build with the infantry though because 21st's been lax on getting regular German and U.S. infantry out...  Sad because N. Africa repaints and different stuff would be doable if they would take the chance to revisit their first series.

Thank god someone listens to me.  Now I need to get to Hasbro...  Hmmm.

Edit: Don't mind that severely bruised knee in practice stuff.  I shot him with a ninja dart on the way to practice, that's why Thibault's out.

I missed the pens tonight but I heard Boston came back on us and the Pens lost one that was simply theirs to lose.

And that's our 2nd OT loss too, which blows.  Our goaltending is just attrocious and I'm pissed we aren't putting Fleury back in over Thibault at this point.  It was a joke that he got starter over a guy that basically carried the Pens in their last season with his goaltending, young or not.  I'd be starting him next game after an 0-3 start by Thibault, be damned how old he is or what he thinks he should be doing.  He should realize he wasn't our first choice anyway and be playing harder than he is.

Nice to see (highlights) Crosby get his first goal though.  The city's already buzzing outside the hockey fans about this kid, and the asinine local sports guys are all now talking about him.  What a bunch of tools those guys are.

I got mine today (Pittsburgh, PA area) as well.

My comments?

-Chewbacca...  Fantastic.  Probably the only reason I am thankful I got this set, actually, and he'll fill a great void I have since I got the VOTC Chewie last year...  The void of a SA Bacca with the ANH/ESB hair-did.  ****** weapon though.  If it was hollow, I'd think it was a novelty condom because it sure seems like it's made of latex.

-Leia...  Eh...  Commtech is better and is the figure that they should've included to just give people some happiness beyond Chewbacca.  The paint's a tad sloppy, the sculpt's ok, the articulation's non-existant.  The saving grace is the sculpt being something different, and that's at least cool.

-R2...  Eh...  Bar2-D2's better and taking away the "extras" the VOTC figure had is more or less insulting given what the set cost.  Just put in VOTC R2 and quit being so damn cheap.

-Luke...  Attrocious.  This is POTF2 quality if you ask me.  The colors are so far off it's not even funny (almost looks like a medical Robes Luke from the end of ESB, actually).  The paintjob's as sloppy as Leia's too.  This figure isn't one I'm fond of, however my gf's kids are both wanting one of these so if any of you find yourself with a ton of extras of Luke I'd take them to just make the kids happy.  For my $ though I hope the telescoping saber feature is left to 1978-1985 where it belongs.  At least Outlander Ani has someone to feel like a ******bag with now though.

I'm going to say that the "**** splatter" Trooper was perhaps walking INTO the bathroom at the time that the "**** smear" Trooper was just unleashing his rectal fury.  Afterwards, smear wiped his hands on his armor as is evidenced by the smooth smeared lines, while he apologized to splatter who obviously was upset that it was south of the border night in the Destroyer's galley.

Or my imagination's disturbing and it's late.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Clone Troopers!

You guys are killing me. :)  You're getting a thread started before I have the time to.

So here we go...

This week we are indeed taking a look at the Clone Troopers! (Full Review) from the Revenge of the Sith basic line.  Figures #6 and #41 if I'm not mistaken and if you're keeping track.  This review is a duel review/comparison.  The grunts of the great Republic are the hotspot for collecting this year and even with massive reshipments these figures are NOT pegwarming, at least not everywhere, but Hasbro's really putting them out there for everyone to grab.

(For the curious, my definition of pegwarming means massive ammounts that sit for at least a month.  In some areas they maybe are lucky enough to have this "problem" with Clones but in my neck the best you'll find is a #41 here and there (#6's are long gone for some reason and I think it's mostly because they've only recently shipped as the hot repaint Clone).)

Anyway, the Clones are obviously popular.  Probably the most popular figures of all time really with demand not even having too much of a slowdown.  If the white ones aren't in demand, the variants are, and it's a vicious cycle.

My review this week's a bit of a twist.  I'm tearing apart both figures to show who the clear-cut winner is between #6 Clone and #41 Clone.  I won't spoil the ending but if you know me well you know who I picked.  I like both figures well enough to have bought many of each though, and while my army is weak compared to, oh, say, Rob's, I've still got an impressive little group going.

This review was done prior to the variations shipping really, but to say they are anything short of a pain in the ass to find is really an understatement.  IMO, I'd say one of the only reasons there are any white clones to be found fairly easily is because people are focusing on buying up the variations (And evolutions sets) instead.  I know I've even begun to pace myself and I now buy CLones like I buy up Clone pilots and Neimodian gunners.  Here and there when I see them and have the extra $$$, but not buying up every one I see.

Anyway, Hasbro has a couple of knock-out figures, and they really satiated 2 demographics and you just have to give them some applause for that effort.  Neither figure is bad though, and that's good news for army builders.  So check out the review and pick which way you want your army to go!
