Miami doesn't need Bosh to win the East, but they will need him to win the Championship. I think he is supposed to be back by then.

I am rooting HARD for OKC right now. For the past 15 years ago it has become a tradition that I cannot officially start watching the NBA playoffs until the Lakers are eliminated.

Once those sh*tbags are out of the conversation, I can enjoy the games.  :)

On a tip I visited a couple of Tuesday Mornings and found vintage figs for $5. Seems each store is getting 6 at a time and they seem to be all carry forwards from the Revenge waves - Yoda, ESB Vader, corrected Stormie, Slave Leia, Bar 2, and RFT

Isn't the Yoda on Revenge card that Canadian variant some people are freaking out about?

I recall reading something about this somewhere, but as a non-packaging completist I did not pay close attention.

Nice work. EWOKS is a pretty easy collecting niche to fill...you've only got 6 figures to get and they are not all that hard to come by. I recall Logray and Wicket being the priciest of the bunch, but even those are easily found under $100 if you are patient. (Talking carded here, sure they would be much cheaper loose)

DROIDS is a little bit more of a headache. Those can get expensive. I'm down to just Boba Fett to complete my collection, but I know that is at least a $600-800 commitment if you can even find a legitimate one. LOTS of fakes out there...ugh.

My dream is to one day own at least one of the unproduced prototypes from either line - not a custom, not a knock-off, an actual prototype from back in the day. I realize this will probably never happen because you need to have networking connections with other collectors in this hobby to get a crack at something like that which I lack. But it would sure be swell.

So I take it this thing is a complete surprise? No inklings in previous Q&A's or at Toy Fair?

Interesting.

I don't understand why they would give it to K-Mart though, or why they would want it. That company has been bankrupt for like 5 years now. They just announced another huge wave of store closings at the beginning of the year.

The few left around here are still stuck with a bunch of B-Wings that are not moving.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Recent Clone Wars Finds/Purchases

Made the clearance rounds again today. I finally found the Grievous with Wheelbike Deluxe Set for $5.99 at Ross, which I snagged immediately. Also picked up another of each of the DVD sets as they were marked down to $5.99 as well. Seems like they are starting to disappear so I figured what the hell.

No sign of the Y-Wing Scout Bomber someone over at 'Scum claims to have found at a Ross.

FIND/RANT:

It is a wasteland around here, but I did see yesterday that ROSS got a refresh of Class I vehicles. I saw 2 Republic Scout Speeders, and oddly enough, the BARC with Jesse set in the old, bulkier packaging style. It strikes me as weird these would be shipping together.

Have to take a moment to vent, just out of pure frustration, and nothing new, but MAN, it sucks right now out there in retail. It was bad enough when we were just in that interminable 3 month lull, but now that new stuff is hitting, at least in other parts of the country  ::), it's beyond aggravating.

I'm getting up early every morning to hit at least 2 Walmarts on my way in to work, and although one of them only has 2 TVC figures left, neither has restocked in weeks. I hit up another 3-4 Targets/K-Marts/Walmarts over lunch, and at least 1-2 on the way home. If I go back out that night, I'll hit another 2-3 stores. This is EVERY DAY NOW.

I know a couple of other guys around town doing the same thing in their neck of the woods. Same deal. By my count now, there's something like 3 different Vintage waves shipping, 2 different Clone Wars waves, a new wave of Class I vehicles, and you can't find a damn thing out there. WTF?

I have a little cash saved up now and I think I am finally to the drastic point of A) ordering online and getting stuck with a bunch of figures I don't need and can't get rid of; or B) buying up ALL the figures at a few of my local stores and relocating them to BFE. (Dooshy move but this is what Hasbro has reduced me to)

Ugh.

I just have to say, I really pray they never do a promotion like this for the Clone Wars line. I know that is a virtual certainty anyway, but God, this would really drive me crazy.

Unlike Pete, I have a wife who would probably as soon divorce me as allow me to travel to FL to buy stuff like this.  :-[

Saw that about DD. I only ever knew him as the curious pipe-smoking dude from the Blues Brothers. Amazing to learn of his rich musical history, ditto Steve Cropper.

At least Matt "Guitar" Murphy is still going stong!

Of the 3, I would recommend eBay.

You are NEVER going to find any kind of deal at Brian's Toys.

'Scum has some good deals from time to time but you really have to know the community over there.

eBay is your classic risk/reward proposition. If you're smart and careful, you can really come out ahead in the long run.

Just my 2 cents~

It's official, Pete is the undisputed King Of All Star Wars collectors. Your dedication is inspiring, brother.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: A thread about concerts.
« on: May 10, 2012, 10:50 AM »
Caught Megadeth @ The National here in Richmond last night. Not really a fan of the more recent stuff, but it's always good to hear stuff from the first few albums.

I guess it has been awhile since I have been to a concert, noticed a few new trends I do not like.

1) $42 for a ticket?!?! I paid half that much to see Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth AND Alice In Chains back in the day. All they had for an opening act was some crappy local band that won some contest. What exactly am I paying for here? A giant video screen? Someone's monstrous coke habit?

2) No encore? My friend says he is noticing this more and more too. I thought an encoure was a given, but I guess $42 only buys you an hour and twenty minutes of music now.

3) Dbags in the audience holding up their $#&* phones to film the show that is going on right in front of them. They need to designate a special section of the venue for these tools, I swear. Every other person around me was throwing up an iphone in my face trying to get that perfect angle. Put your phone away and just pay attention. If your friends couldn't go to the show, f'em, you dont need to film it for posterity.

Some additional thoughts this morning:

1) Why does Maul have a double bladed lightsaber when he clearly sported a single bladed saber in the show?

2) Where is Savage Oppress' lightsaber? Not even Hasbro would be stupid enough to re-issue this figure without his lightsaber, right? RIGHT?

3) I read where the "Nightsister" is based on a composite sketch from the Wizards of the Coast game, or some such nonsense. Huh? Didn't they make their own miniatures? Why are we wasting precious spaces in this line for competing licenses? It would have been EASY to simply drop the braids and saber and call her Mother Talzin.

4) If this is how we are going to get Robot Chicken Maul, WTF are they going to put out for the carded version? There is NO WAY Spider Legs is fitting in a bubble. And those are really the only 2 choices.

I hate to sound like a whiny doosh, because there is a lot to like about this set (2 new figures in a BP!) but it just seems like they went 9/10ths of the way and then fell short of total success with some really silly minor details.

4663
Wow.

Kind of agree it is simultaneously gratifying and disappointing. The Maul looks good enough, but let's not kid ourselves, that is Mother Talzin, you know it, I know it, Hasbro knows it. Ain't no other Nightsisters look like that. That is some weak sauce.  I simply do not get the aversion to naming characters, like Keeli.

I take it that was not something ever hinted out as far as their line-up for Clone Wars this year? Like a bonus to what we already know is coming, which I believe is 1 more Deluxe set and 1 more figure TBA?

Any hints as to when this would be coming out? i hope it does sell like a MF'er and someone at Hasbro realizes, "hey, we can make some money off this line after all", and maybe even decide to make more villains, or gasp, GIRLZ!

That Caps game SUCKED. How many soul crushing losses does one fanbase have to endure in a single series?

As hard as it is to score in hockey anytime, when you have a lead and 10 seconds on the clock you should win 100% of the time without exception. Anything is pure CHOKE.

Screw it, whether it's six or seven, they're done. I won't waste any more time watching the slow motion crash and burn.

4665
Sheesh, by the time that friggin' Helicarrier finds its way to pegs the movie will already be on Blu-Ray.

I think the concern over the MTT is warranted. I could see this going the way of the Mandalorian Assault Transport, over before it even started.
