Damn, I saw the pack with Terrax' head and axe and it looked sweet. I just can't justify the expense to build the only figure I want. Will have to look for one on eBay I guess...he came out great.

New episode tonight?

Haven't seen any previews around the web yet...would not mind having a week off.

The boxset looks cool but I want a new wave of figures!

One of the local Targets had all those new TPM 2-packs on clearance today for $7.48.  ???

It was definitely not a mistake, they were each individually stickered. Have not seen this anywhere else in my travels though. Weird.

So I went ahead and opened the one I bought at Target for $23 last night, and I have nothing but good things to say about this toy.

It's just cool and different. The design is slick, they really optimized all the play features and made the base/ship transition as easy as possible. Doubles as a good carrying case for loose figures too.

I have to applaud Hasbro for trying something different and trying to figure out a way back into this whole playset mentality. I realize there may be little appeal to collectors, but my kids are going to LOVE this thing.

I just can't imagine shelling out $80 for the thing is all. For $23, it's a terrific value.

Wow, glad I decided to go back out tonight. When I got back to Target there was only 1 Attack Shuttle left. Guess they really are "priced to move".

So I snagged the last one, it was actually only $23.98, not $24.98 as I mentioned earlier. Can't wait to crack this baby open tonight after the wife goes to bed.

WINNING!  ;D

I need to start watching the River with subtitles...it is really hard to tell what the hell they are saying sometimes, especially the cameraman and director. Friggin' mumbly Brits!

So there's this one Target in town that has been a holdout at 30% off for their clearance toy prices. Everyone else around here went to 50% right away it seemed like. So I've been waiting them out, since they are one of the only Targets with any decent stuff worth picking up.

Today I went back there and they had gone from 30% t0 70% off!  :o

I was able to score an Assault on Geonosis Battlepack for $5.98! And an AV-7 Mobile Cannon for $7.48! And the Republic Gunships were down to $24.98 a pop! (They had three left, I am going back to buy one tonight I decided)

That is just insanely awesome. The figures were less than $3 too, might pick up an SBD just for the hell of it. If they had had any Deluxe sets I would have cleaned them out.

Good luck out there!

The animated version has shorter horns and the original Ep.I sliced-in-half lightsaber.

Just out of curiosity, where did you hear that the animated figure is coming with the broken lightsaber? I don't recall that news coming out of ToyFair, but it seems plausible enough.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Walmart Exclusive Clone Wars 2-Packs

Didn't they say Wal-Mart had taken delivery of these, though?

Wow, no, I have heard nothing like that. At least not at Jedi Temple Archives, Galactic Hunter, Rebelscum, Echo Base News, Imperial Holocron, or here at JD. I really scoured the internets for info on these before I resorted to buying them overseas, but it's possible I missed something at one of the other sites.

If you can find any kind of source for that, please post it, as that would be fantastic info to have confirmed.

Thanks!

To my knowledge, no one asked specifically about these, sadly, but given their response on the Mandalorian Transport, you can sort of guess. Both the 2-packs were in the SOTDS packaging, and they pretty much said there is no place for that at retail anymore. I am still hopeful some of the domestic versions actually got produced and will show up someplace eventually, but that may be a longshot. The Euro packaging is a lot more plain-jane.

Sucks, these were by far the best of all those DVD 2-packs. They finally figured out to put new figures in those things and then this happens.

"New" as compared to the original theatrical release, yes...there are a couple of deleted scenes from the DVD's woven in, but nothing we haven't seen before in some shape or form.

As for the show, 10 years does seem like a stretch, but they could go 7-8 easily without running into ROTS, I think. I'm sure Filoni has some sort of endgame plotted out already.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?
« on: February 14, 2012, 09:04 AM »
I loves me some Clone Wars, seen every episode, own all the DVDs, Blu-Ray, etc., but do any of us honestly expect the show and the line is going to continue over the next six years?

The show was originally slated to run for 5 seasons, so based on the original plan next season would be the last, but there are reports out there that they have already started writing for Season Six, so who knows?

I agree another 5 years for the show is probably overly optimistic, but I can see it going another 2 seasons easily, and that will make 100 episodes, which is the magic number for *ding ding ding* syndication;D

So the toy line could potentially run another 2-3 years just off the repeats and maybe the odd TV movie here and there.

There are a lot more toys I think they need to make before they kill this thing, so I'm in as long as they stick with the animated style, which it sounds like they will, thankfully.

Well, on the bright side, outside of Aayla and possibly Commander Fox, the rest of the figures this year will be all new.

Sigh, I know...it's a stretch.

I was just reading through one of the reports at JTA, and it sounds like the overall feeling from Hasbro is that the Clone Wars line will continue to see about 20 figures a year through the duration of the 3D releases.  They mentioned it being considered more of a "sub line" now, and they would be very careful about what characters were included.  They did admit to a dip in the ratings of the show (although I think I've enjoyed this season much more than last year).  I'd be curious if the show would even be on the air (new episodes at least) for another 6 years, that's a long time for a cartoon these days.  I think usually once they hit the 52 number, they often wrap things up (or change the name), although there are exceptions.  Anyways, sounds like CW will be run very similar to the way things are this year - barring a disaster with the 3D releases I guess.

I read this as well, but it doesn't quite ring true somehow. If the ratings start to go back up this season and next, does that mean they will re-evaluate things and start making more TCW toys? No, they're going to continue to focus on the movies no matter what. So throwing that line out about the ratings is pretty weak sauce if you ask me.

Also, you can't blame the show, or the movies, for how badly the line is being managed right now. It's not the show's fault you couldn't get that Mando Transport to retail, even with SIX PLUS MONTHS of lead time. Or the fact that you continually under-produced toys for this line and made poor character choices and case assortments.

I'm fine with it being a sub-line, but at least run it with some integrity. I'm fine with them making smarter choices on some of their selections, but that does not mean only give us clones and Obi/Ani retreads. I mean, you've already spent the tooling dollars on Season 3 Ahsoka, but in Wave 1 we get more pegwarming Snow Koons? Who authorized that?!?! And don't even get me started on how they are rolling the clock back on articulation..oy vey!

Less is fine. Worse is not. If you're going to commit to the line for at least the duration of the show, please do it right.
