The Legacy Collection / Re: product lull
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:22 AM »
CONFIRMED for the mid-size vehicle line, Fall 2010.  :)

1. Things have been awfully quiet on the mid-sized vehicle line. We got a couple of great new additions this past summer (still loving the Droid Tank), but nothing since then. Any chance that you can spot us a couple of hints on upcoming starfighters/ships we'll see on the shelves this Spring?

** Unfortunately, there won't be any new ones this Spring. The Starfighters are doing well, but the new wave that was planned for Spring won't make it out at this point and has been pushed out to Fall '10. When the new assortment starts up, it will be chock full of newness. We can confirm that both the new Snowspeeder and a new Cloud Car will be in the line. Stay tuned for official looks at this at Toy Fair.

Umm, WTF do all those Hasbro employees plan to do for the first part of 2009? Sit around and play Tetris? Are you guys putting ANYTHING out?

I would love to see the look on their CEO's face when the production team announced they are pretty much taking the first 8 months or so off. "I see...and how exactly do you expect me to pay your salaries? From that My Little Pony slush fund?"

Maybe they could use the down time to find a new factory. They seemed to have a lot of problems with the old place this year.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Clone Wars General Battle Pack Thread
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:14 AM »
So I searched for an existing thread on this topic and found none. Mods - please feel free to merge if I am in error.

The first wave of TCW Battlepacks for 2010 is now In Stock and available to order from all the major e-tailers. (Brian's Toys, BBTS, EE, etc)

"Holocron Heist" and "Jedi Showdown" appear to be straight repacks, as has been speculated elsewhere.

I'd love to hear from anyone who plans on ordering these, or better yet, if anyone finds these in an actual brick and mortar store.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: CW "Epic Encounter" Ultimate BP
« on: December 22, 2009, 10:10 AM »
I asked Adam Pawlus over at Galactic Hunter about this item and what it is and when we will ever see it, if at all. Here's what he had to say:

"International exclusive. No release has been specified as Hasbro has never announced it.  For all we know we got a look at an International concept that made it to the packaged stage and did not get picked up-- this has happened before.  Hasbro does not let us know about international exclusives, particularly when they perceive the items to be mere repacks."

So I'm not holding my breath on this one.

Whatever happened with this set? Did it ever actually get released? Was it scrapped entirely?

I am 99% sure they are straight re-packs, but I don't have any hard evidence to verify that. I just seem to recall Hasbro mentioning this as the BP direction for the future, repacks versus new product. From what I can tell from looking at the pics closely and comparing them to the carded versions, they are identical.

I do hope I am wrong about that though, I hate re-packs.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Walmart Legacy Collection AT-ST
« on: December 21, 2009, 10:22 AM »
I was at Wal-mart last night picking up some items and noticed the end-cap that was loaded with the new AT-ST was now full of Turbo Tanks.  I looked around a little and found the AT-ST's in an overflow area and on clearance for $29.

Nice. So they put the AT-ST on clearance, which is already impossible to find, while leaving the Octuptarra Droid gathering dust on the shelves at $35 a pop.

ASININE!

;)I was just kidding. Although they made the dumb ass Cloverfield Monster.....

Apparently a bunch of people (myself included) thought the Cloverfield toy was cool. It sold out without having any markdowns, which is better than the other big toys. (Star Wars and GI Joe)

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing. That toy was freaking awesome, and good luck finding one ANYWHERE for less than $100. It's still on my want list.

Brian's Toys now has the Holocron Heist and Jedi Showdown Battle Packs in stock and available to order. Hopefully this is a good sign they will start showing up at retail soon. I wasn't planning to buy either, but with such a dearth of new product lately, I'll take what I can get, even repacks (shudder).

Vintage Kenner / Re: Latest vintage acquisition

I won a sweet eBay auction for some vintage Ackbar variants...4 to be exact. This was not a variant on my Master List, but the final price was decent and they seem like worthy additions to the collection.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: 2010 Clone Wars Mail-Away - Nahdar Vebb
« on: December 17, 2009, 02:31 PM »
So Nahdar Vebb showed up in the mail yesterday, complete with a nice Hasbro cardboard slipcase to protect the carded figure inside. He looks every bit as great as I'd hoped. I don't see myself opening this one but I definitely plan to pick up another with the POP's next year for opening purposes.

Looks like this will be it for new toy purchases in 2009...great way to close out the year though.

What an awesome list! I can go along with any of those, although not so much the foreign boots. I do think the Head Man is sweet though.

Yeah, Vlix will definitely be on my list too. I just won't let myself think about Droids and Ewoks until I have gotten to a dead end with the other vintage stuff. (Sometime later in 2010 I am estimating)

What are your super six?

The 3 Double Telescoping figures, Rocket Firing Boba Fett Prototype, Vinyl Cape Jawa and Orange Hair Luke.

I can see ending up with 2 or 3 of those maybe, tops. If I'm lucky. Boba is pretty much a pipe dream.

Snagged the Chewbacca Green Crossbow variant this afternoon for a decent price. Pretty psyched about this one...I am about done with my variants, outside of the Super Six I can never afford. Still have to grab Blue Snags and Brown Hair Farmboy Luke, but those are easily found, if not affordable.

TV-9D9 / Re: Upcoming SW Live-Action TV Show Discussion!
« on: December 12, 2009, 11:30 PM »
I think the success of the Clone Wars show has somewhat hindered the development of the live action series. They don't want to saturate the market with new entertainment, and the animated show has shown some legs which should carry it at least into next year.

That said, I hope they are still working on getting the live action stuff off the ground because done right, that could be a HUGE hit.

Hell, put JJ Abrams on it, slap it on ABC on a Wednesday night and you've got GOLD.

I got my vintage open belly Tauntaun in the mail yesterday, with the original box as a bonus. It's a nice piece, the rubber on the belly is in good shape with minimal yellowing. One of the legs is a bit loose but I can live with that.

I also took another stab at the Blue Apron Ugnaught variant. Let's hope the one that shows up actually resembles the color in the auction photo this time. (fingers crossed!)
