Revenge of the Sith / Re: Greivous Wheelbike
« on: February 8, 2005, 08:12 AM »
Eh, it was ok for Comedy Central so I'm not gonna complain unless the powers that be tell me otherwise.

Good score on the pic.  I can only fathom Greivous cruising in similar style.  I'd be horribly disappointed in E3, but at the same time I know I'd not be the only one laughing his ass off in the theater.

If you're having trouble with Chat that's one thing but I was meaning the FFURG FForums are a great place to get input...  You should go there, unless that's what you meant that you can't get into.

If you can though, the FFURG FForums would appreciate you showing the work there.  I didn't notice it yet there myself incase you tried.

the AT-RT I can explain away enough to satisfy my own gripe on it...  It is a small personal support one I think.  The AT-PT looks, in my view, to be the real "evolution" of that walker.  The enclosed cockpit, and a forward gun able to put a field of fire down...  Not gonna put an AT-ST down ever (not alone anyway) but it's an improvement.

The RT's got the height advantage (good in brush), and would be an asset, just not anything superior to all it's gonna encounter on a field, even if only encountering infantry.  It's a walking E-Web basically...  Good to get a "machine gun" up for support, and even over a wall perhaps (ideal) but not for marching right in on anything.

The wheelbike...  It looks like fun anyway.

What was that wheel-bike thing from Southpark?  Dale, do you have a picture we can even show here of that one?  :)  I wonder if Greivous makes it go the same way?  hahaha

Revenge of the Sith / Hasbro / RotS Figures in the Media

So this was elsewhere but it's a pretty good read and a topic I find quite curious...  It says a lot about Star Wars that I've been saying now for years but which I've been told I was "wrong" by more than a handful of people...

I tend to agree with the analyst's response to the story when saying that Star Wars is not something Hasbro should be putting their hopes into...  However I don't believe they honestly are either.

Something I bring to the table, and something I bet most people have never read but it's a fun thing to check out, is a read on the Company's History via Hasbro.com...  It's funny when reading that PR article that they have on their main page because you get a better look overall at this company's trends, and where they've put a lot of weight over the years.

It's sad, but Star Wars is a mere blip on Hasbro's radar, and their Company History page shows it...  To them it's just a brand they kept from the hands of someone else I feel.  I think they are making a push with the last movie, but I don't believe Hasbro is really putting a lot of hope that Star Wars will rebound the Boy's Toys division as a whole.  I think the reporter's giving more credit to the license and Hasbro PR work than they deserve, and the Analyst gives a better breakdown of Hasbro's view...  the license is a gamble, it always has been, and there's plenty backing that up.

I think Star Wars is in for dark days after E3 unfortunately.  I think it'll be more a liability to the Boy's Toys division rather than a blessing, short of some incredible popularity out of E3 and into new popular media.

The Buzz Boar was what I was thinking too.

It's an odd vehicle...  Not the most practical design really, but whatever.  The AT-RT's not exactl screaming "military excellence" itself, what with the big open seat  you could snipe the driver off of. :)

To me, the junk becomes an accessory...  Like a plate on a dinner table, or some such.  An unseable droid arm with wiring jutting out it is just something an Ugnaught can tote around like a Bespin Guard carries a gun or Chewie lugs the accessory 3PO...

I see the playability factor though.  Hasbro should've made an interchangeable "Droid Factory" type of playset ages ago but they've not really tried to capture anyone's attention that way it seems.  :-\

Hmmm, some work places do block because Jason has trouble with that from time to time...  Hopefully you can get it fixed.

On the Bluubo's arm length, you could always cut the arms short...  I think you'd get the same effect basically.

Bobafett14 (Bob), my buddy from out here, says this place:

Alcatraz Brewing Company Illinois & Maryland - Circle Centre Mall

is good...  So I'll be going there a night for sure I think.

That said, my girl is going so I'm gonna say Hooters isn't a 100% guarantee for me...  Unless we do lunch at Hooters? :)  Dinner may be doable too though, just have to remember about my evenings not being spent alone...  As it is I'll be leaving her alone all day while I'm off nerding it up.

This is one of those threads that, as a dork, I feel an urge to "explain" things when I disagree with someone's dislike of something in the films, haha.  That kind of **** is what my friends laugh at me about.  :(

Revenge of the Sith / Re: AT-RT - the walker army-builder
« on: February 7, 2005, 08:00 AM »
i'm actually intrigued.  the picture doesn't make the toy look awkward at all...  Properly scaled (it seems by eyeballing it anyway), a possibly great figure pack-in that only time will tell if that's the case...

I saw complaints about the paintjob at Scum but it's accurate so I can't gripe there...

if the feature works and it walks well (it's more than possible) then hey, I'm in.  As it stands I'll get more than one...  Even pondering customs.

ROTS looks like a nice army building movie to me.  As long as this thing can stand, I'm content even with a "walking" feature.  If the feature works great then I'm ecstatic...  It'll be unique.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Anything give you the willies??

-Greedo shooting first...  It never ever will look "right".  The only way that scene will ever be normal or look realistic is if Han cold-bloodedly kills Greedo to not have to pay-up to Jabba.  No ifs, ands, or buts to this.

-The weird disipating (sp?) smoke on the AT-ST that Chewie blows up shooting it with his AT-ST.  ****** effect.

-Luke/Leia's swing that's impossible...  Just don't like that they leave the barge via a means that, unless there's some rigging unknown, it's not possible.  I hate that.

-The "scale" of the Endor Battle...  not that I dislike it, it's a great battle, but to me it's something I wish he would've added many MANY ships to via CGI.  It needs much more clutter. :)

-Enhancing the Stormtrooper bumping his head...  It's a mistake, the "clank" wasn't necessary to actually point it out.  It was better as a hidden joke only dorks knew.

-Sy Snootles in Jedi Rocks...  I liked the puppet.  The rest I kinda like, but the puppet is better than CGI Sy.

-Vader's motioning with no dialogue...  Cut the damn thing out.  It's funny to see from my nerd POV but it's distracting.

-Expand the Yavin battle...  Again, like Endor, I think more ships would do it well.  I'd add some A-Wings, and maybe a couple other ships...  A TIE Bomber or two perhaps.  Just something to expand the battle.

Anyway...

I actually like Riekean's remark, the background art on Jabba's barge (reminds me of the neat details Lucas was once classic for but lacks in the prequals), and stuff like that...

The magnet I can take or leave...  it is what it is.

To me, most problems came from the SE's and he even fixed the Luke scream one thankfully.  That was atrocious.

yeah this is great news man...  Nice to hear a good outcome.  Apparantly all complaints are warranted I believe.  This is helpful information for sure.
