Saga Collection '06 / Re: VOTC and OTC Returns in 2006!
« on: November 2, 2005, 12:26 AM »
The whole set sounds potentially great to me short of Greedo.  I really didn't need VOTC Greedo and really think the Death Squad Trooper was a much better choice.

Anyways, Han and Scout are bound to be fantastic figures and I hope they're everything we could possibly want.  I think the Scout will be short-changed if he doesn't have the AT-TE Gunner ball/socket hips though for riding on the bikes.  Short of that though I don't see how they can screw that figure up given the formula they have to work with.

Luke and the Tusken Raider sound great...  Luke's needed a resculpt for certain and the Tusken Raider is a figure that could be a great army builder to only show-up the current Tuskens.

OK, now that said......

Yes, they can give us SA and all this "ultimate" quality for $5-$6 that we've been paying for the regular line, and it's total bull**** that they're charging $4 - $5 for essentially flashy packaging.  I like the VOTC packaging a lot, it's purdy and all, and given the price I'm even inclined to keep the packaging as wall decoration or a backdrop to the figures or some such, but given my choice of "$10 figures in fancy packaging", or "The same figure in normal packaging", I think it's obvious I'd be with the rest of you in taking $5 figures in cheap packaging.

To me, the packaging is just Hasbro's way of milking fans for extra...  Nothing more, nothing less, and unfortunately it seems like we aren't apt to get much more out of them.  They know we want that level of quality and the price just bites for us I guess because they're not going to be too giving with those kinds of figures in the basic line.  They should be, especially with all these repacks, but they're bound not to be.

I'm happy to see this kind of articulation on figures...  I'd much prefer Hasbro re-using THESE sculpts down the line on basic cards at basic prices though.  I mean, the VOTC Stormie should have been re-released as one of the first Saga figures and so far he's not showing on any rumor lists as making a comeback.  That's just plain stupid...  One can hold out hope (I certainly do) that these figures get re-used for cheaper at some point.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: When will the ROTS clearances start?
« on: November 2, 2005, 12:13 AM »
I'd gladly build a Neimodian army if the clearances hit for it.  The figure's cramming pegs around here, but I'd say at most maybe 3 or 4 pegs full of him at any given stores.  That's not a horrible ammount and it certainly leaves room for new stuff, but he just isn't going anywhere unfortunately.

I think Target will lead the way with clearances though, as they pretty much have since the line started and haven't shown signs of changing their trends.  Wal-Mart will, as always, be spotty.  Some will hang on while others will clearance...  Unless of course they need to pave the way for Saga06 to come in like they had to do with the change from OTC to POTC/ROTS...

TRU will just make a dedicated peg to ROTS figures like it does with leftover Saga, and leftover POTJ slop.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: November 2, 2005, 12:09 AM »
I hope they get buttloads of all 3 sets at some point because up till now the entire Evolutions set has been the biggest pain in the rear to find short of variant Clones.  To the point of frustration really.  I've yet to see anything but the Clone set in a store, and the Clone sets I saw weren't too abundant and were gone when I got back to pick up some army building supplies.   I was bummed.

The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Battlefront II!!!!
« on: November 2, 2005, 12:05 AM »
I didn't buy...  This is the type of game that wears thin to me, so I'm not buying till it's cheaper by a substantial bit.  I played the demo's on the DVD though and it was meh...  I don't like that Clones aren't mission specific (IE: The Utapau level has a variety of Clones and not Utapau colored Clones as in the films).  It's a minor gripe but visually it detracts for me and my gaming experience.

The gameplay seemed to have only minor tweaks/changes, so the gameplay's still good enough...  I didn't care for the space level though, as the controls were funky still and felt very unchanged in quality.

The demo's are also incredibly ****** short.  The Utapau one is timed, and the space one's pathetically short.  I guess they must have felt a full level like Endor's for BF1 was just too much to "give away" to the fans.  It didn't endear me to buying the game, but I do somehow think that single-player for BF2 may be somewhat better.  From what I've heard the game has more qualities of a SP game mixed in with the obvous MP qualities...  That's promising but not enough for me to bite on it right now.  Down the road I'll gladly own it though.

I think they were $25?  The same price as all the similarly sized sets like the Lothlorien one I think...

Feedback / Re: Scott's feedback
« on: November 1, 2005, 04:13 AM »
Scott hooked me up with a Clone case tonight as well, including extras just cuz he's a swell guy!

Can't argue with that kind of service...  My Empire will kick Jeff's Empire's ass too!

Thanks Scott!  You're not as bad as all the kids say.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 Exclusives
« on: November 1, 2005, 04:01 AM »
The exclusives news is sorta uninteresting to me...  I'm irked at the thought of Zev being an exclusive pack-in and personally I hate any and all pack-ins that aren't in the basic line...

That was about the only thing to catch my attention though.  I'mjust kinda meh on the whole thing.  To me, AT-AT's aren't a good idea given how easily they didn't sell before...  Oh well.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Digital Camera?
« on: November 1, 2005, 03:17 AM »
You may have better luck with this thread in Watto's general discussion board Steve, but only because there's some "Pro's" that don't peruse the customs area.  Our own Jared is a bit of a camera expert for instance, and guys like Brad (Angry Ewok) and Rob know a lot as well...  Also Jeff and others on staff know quite a bit but I'll let this stay here if it's where you want.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: NFL Regular Season 2005-06
« on: November 1, 2005, 02:34 AM »
The Steelers literally were killing me tonight...  A great, close game, and the city more or less was expecting this irregardless of what the world was saying.  Baltimore hates us and us them, and it showed tonight.

I was thrilled with the play up to the half...  The O was on most of the night, and Ben had some trouble but not a lot.  They were running hard though, and really fighting for every inch they got.  The D was sorta lax at the beginning of the 2nd half and that let the Ravens take control of the game a couple times...  The completely botched punt had me mother F'n the screen though and I really thought they were going to lose this one.  The whole team came together at the end though and everyone played top-notch to seal the win, but the Ravens shouldn't have ever been underestimated like they were by the press all week...

All national news I saw was pretty saying the Steelers were going to walk all over them, and I knew that was not even an option.  It turned into a brutal hitting game, but lots of solid playing on both sides.  Fortunately our Offense really was in step short of the time between the first drive and end of the first half...  Ben's knee was hurting and it did throw him off, but he got his **** together and took it to the Ravens in the 3rd and 4th.  Nice! :)  Love MNF.

As a Steelers fanatic, you guys can kiss my hairy white ass. :)  Go Miller...  Roethlisberger's new go-to guy in the endzone!

It looks like the Final Battle gift pack is coming out after all, which is good since I want that Troll in there.

I can attest to finding these a week or two ago.  Got one for my brother and they seemed to have "enough" on the pegs.  Now they've got the one w/Sauron out...

Hope you nab that set, it's pretty cool with the troll I thought.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Who wants a new SAGA Battle Droid 3-pack?
« on: November 1, 2005, 02:05 AM »
I agree...  Droids are lacking on the pegs right now, and Clones need something to kill besides Neimodians...  as fun as that may be.

A 3-pack of a red, a cream, and an EU green battledroid (or a red security droid?) would be perfect IMO.  If they included a variation set where they were all Commanders, that'd be cool too, but definitely ship heavily on the basic battledroid in a 3-pack like that.

It should be emphasized though that if they do this, the figures have to be sturdy plastic.  I'm cool with the Saga sculpt even though it's somewhat lacking in articulation, but if they're the cheap flimsy figures of the Saga line, or ROTS line, then forget it...  I need droids that can stand at any time and without fear of wilting.  It's excuseless on Hasbro's part and high time they fix the flaw.

Oh we know all about him here...  We've been dealing with him just the same.  He's been showing elsewhere too, like GalacticHunter and FFURG.com too, so he's just a turd that won't flush for most sites.

The point was more that, in the grand scheme of things, kids are usually low on the totem pole when it comes to running a site...  Their behavior's disruptive but you deal with it as the site sees fit...  It's the older people who have the social skills of 10 year olds that are a problem.  We've got a healthy ban list of those people, but I've noticed some are welcomed with open-arms over at Scum and left to their own devices in how they talk to, or treat other members of the community...  Unfortunately respect isn't something everyone's taught, and it seems over there it's not even something required of you (unless of course you piss off the powers that be, then any fart crosswise is a punishable offense).

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave
« on: October 31, 2005, 04:35 AM »
SA one was the Endor Trooper I was hoping for though...  POTF2's not poseable at all and the Saga figure's disappointing too...  There's work they need to do there I think.

The Luke is disappointing because, well, he just needs resclupted to be a good SA figure.  On ENdor Luke had the Jedi tunic on though over his outfit so technically he should be sporting the skirt and all that.  I think I'd have much preferred a resculpt on Luke too...  I think I'd have replaced the DSGunner with either of the other figures completely resculpted.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Endor Wave

Little of A, little of B maybe...  :)  They likely know what they know and are just milking it a little at a time with these "411" things.

I'm always one to enjoy a good rumor though so whatever...

I'm a bit disappoitned about Luke...  I'm really disappointed about the Endor Trooper irregardless of a new head or not...  If Palpy was the Evolutions Palpy (yeah right, but one can dream) with maybe a new ROTJ head I'd be totally AOK with that.  That'd be the ultimate in my book.
