All this talk about protein and teabags made me wonder what direction the thread had taken.  :)

I had tea tonight...  MMMMMMmmm Tea.  I drink coffee, tea (just regular red rose tea), hot chocolate, Cappucino, other coffee/espresso drinks...  I just like stuff like that.

Love mixin' in some whiskey or whatnot too.  Not good to drink too much and get sick on, but good to definitely get a buzz going with some good conversation.

Just a note from me, but I think the staff would agree overall, that I'm glad this thread's going nice and smooth, people are having lots of good thoughts and discussion but no fighting, no telling people they're picky or whiney for their opinions...

I was reading over at RS and it's nothing but a bitchfest by the usual suspects where all they do is take a huge dump on everyone's opinion because it doesn't go with their "Everything is perfect, how can you complain" attitude.  It never fails but all I ever need is a read through a long thread there to remind me how much I appreciate the people we have here.  My hat's off to our membership at JediDefender.com for their maturity and respect.

Glad we're all getting our opinions out.  Right now, I'm a Cody fan because I'm thinking there is more articulation there than meets the eye, but if it turns out to be limited ala the TE Gunner's sculpt I'll be disappointed.  It's better than the troopers losing all the articulation, but not better by much, so I'm hoping it has more articulation than the camera seems to show.

I saw a funny thing the other day about this televangelist who they take his show, and add farting sounds to it.  Anyone seen this?  It looked almost scripted it was so perfect, I laughed hysterically just thinking about it later in the day then.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 VOTC
« on: January 18, 2006, 02:38 AM »
I too agree this is the ideal "Deluxe" for me at this point.  I like big $10 items, but at the same time the Deluxe line's fell flat most every time it's brought out.  It's some of the only widely available clearanced ROTS items, and even high quality Deluxe seem to fall prey to shelfwarming due to price...

A VOTC Deluxe line can have similar things happen to it, but certain figures are going to move at any price, and army builders would be the most likely to do so.  I predict Greedo and Luke to maybe sit, Han too has that potential, but I bet the Sandperson and Scout move like they're limited to only 1000 of each made this year.  :)

For me, I think if VOTC takes over the $10 Deluxe roll I'll be fairly happy...  Not totally as the price still sucks for one figure, but I'll be somewhat more content than some of what we've gotten for $10...  Amanaman was hardly worth it, and craptacular things like the Maul w/Droid, Obi w/Droid, etc., are all $10 figures that simply were hell to buy if you got them.

At the same time, I'm bummed the Evolutions idea seems dead...  It's Hasbro's best idea in ages and they're canning it.  I liked VOTC overall, but I loved Evolutions 10 x more.  Too bad that's not something they're running with this year too.

If the holiday special is taken into account, the planet is under Imperial control, but it seems to function sort of like occupied countries do/did during WW2.  Daily life went on, perhaps a resistance movement, but Kashyyyk was relatively rendered neutral and ineffective.

I have this theory that the slave trade pertained to Wookiee's off-world...  That a law's decreed that Wookiee's are "outlawed" species that are to stay on their planet or face possible arrest and enslavement.  Perhaps the law keeps them out of the core worlds, and inner-rim, but they're allowed in the outer rim and less strictly monitored/controlled worlds on the frontier.

The Wookiee's seem to be accepted...  But their possible aiding of Yoda to escape, and how that is viewed by the new order, could really have had negative consequences.  I don't see the planet as being totally enslaved though.  I see outlaw Wookiee's off-world being enslaved due to a law, that'd explain some EU, and things...  It'd mesh with the prequals too I think, and just work well.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rebelscum
« on: January 17, 2006, 10:02 PM »
I'd say I agree with Josh...  to an extent.

I don't believe guys like Dave, Dustin, Philip, etc. are scalpers or support the notion...  Contrary to what they may think, the staff here doesn't truly hate their guts like that...  Dislike their actions?  Dislike how they treat their forum members who DID show loyalty and were an asset at their site, and not a problem?  Yes, some here feel that way, but I think this is how many here view the situation:

The site maybe doesn't have the mods it needs, but at the same time the staff are there, they are active, and they really just don't give two ***** when things come up that are big problems.  Unless it's trashing Rebelscum's actions, unless it's open criticism of the way things are run there, the Scum staff don't care about their forums near enough and it shows.

Scalping is let slide...  I don't think the aforementioned staffers are scalpers or support the notion, but I do think they have htis "meh, who cares" attitude sometimes, and that scalping's something they can't control on their forums by saying "we're too busy".  I'm busy too, but if it comes up here it's something any one of us will nip in the bud right quickly...  It's just not tolerated, and yes it does come up, and yes our staff is as busy as anyone...  Sometimes it seems moreso because we don't always seem to have the time to do our "jobs" here for the front page too.

So do I think the C2C motto is something they believe in?  Probably, I only know Curto really well and I know Philip didn't ask high prices on anything he's sold, even rare stuff, so that's cool he's a good egg like that, but at the same time their forums are neglected...  Youc an't leave what mods they have to make the decisions it seems, and if you're membership quality is so low you can't promote reliable help from anywhere in this supposedly vast pool of "talent", then to me that just says an equally low commentary about what goes on at your forums overall.  Not to say there aren't people I think you could trust who are there regularly, it's just that nobody's seemingly on the same page...  Nobody cares enough about the job except the few mods they do have, and they're not on the same page with the rest of the staff a lot of the time.  Thus people lose their "job" who were mods, mods are overruled at times by staff, etc...  Nobody cares from the top down, and thus the forums have suffered and are a sham in their overall quality compared to what they were several years back.  The BHC worked because it was run by guys like Burn, mousedroid, jedicrippler, etc., who actually gave a ****.  And like I've always said, some places run their site one way, others like it another way...  I think the "it's so big" excuse is getting old though.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: "Evolutions" assortment...
« on: January 17, 2006, 09:30 PM »
I've gotten in the habit of really working (carefully) all joints on all figures for a time.  Some of the construction is done so that you have to just sorta wear it out slightly at first...

With other toy lines it's that the finish/paint ap dries and if you try working joints too hard it'll snap the joint off because it's stuck.  That's a problem with the XD line.  SW doesn't have that, but they do have joints that are almost too tightly designed and need loosened up, or "worn out" a little bit to really be playable without breakage.  The Evo sets definitely had a fragile aspect to them though.  I'm cool with that for their quality overall, but yeah these were fragile for "toys".  Which is odd because the SA Clone basics were not that way.

So I've got 3 from this wave so far, Barada is the only repack, and so far I'm not overly impressed I'm afraid...

Barada's ok, and I'm gonna BS him as some other guard, but a vintage Barada repaint would have gone over MUCH better if you ask me.  Just trying to outdo the last Barada is meh.

Bib Fortuna I see the gripes about at least some shoulder articulation.  Cool in about every other aspect but his face perhaps, but yeah the shoulder joints sucked.

Han is what I thought he'd be.  He's a great figure in every way but he really REALLY needed some ball/socket knee joints.  Without them, he's a much weaker action figure.  He's a main character involved in one of the most action-packed sequences of the Classic Trilogy, and he has 10 points of articulation with no ball/socket joints to speak of.  That's weak no matter how you slice it and Hasbro can do better as we saw with the Cantina wave from 04/05.  I'm not totally disappointed, but I'm far from giddy to mess with this figure too.  He'll go in the palace and just sit there, while VOTC Han still gets some awesome posing from me...  Yes, "posing".  :)  That's what I call it to make myself feel less douchey.

I threw my vote in for a new Hoth Rebel Soldier...  Other stuff's cool, but to me at this point this whole thing's a big mess and without seeing some running results it's just a mess.  You could be voting for something NOBODY wants but you, or you could be voting for something everyone wants, or I've seen some peopel voting for **** we're getting.

Commander Cody!?  WTF!?  Who'd do that?  But whatever.

Scott'll be pleased to hear that Curto threw his vote behind Wilrow Hood I believe...  I was browsing elsewhere and read that.  The ICMG has his support, I'd love tos ee him make the top whatever list.  If he does, and I doubt anything i really REALLY want does, then I'm all about voting for ICMG.

I'd have said I was disappointed with the Luke X-Wing too if it weren't for the fact he's so short, and can't sit.  Those two things kill me since Luke does sit, and he's not that short...  Compared to other Luke's, he's even short, and when you put him with the other XW figures he's REAL short (Dutch was a tad tall, so it just looks awkward).  So with that, I'm kinda happy to see a redo on him.  Not the highest on my list, but I'll be happy to buy him now, and probably some extras if I can.

I wonder if these are gonna be $10 deluxe figures like the last VOTC...  That'll be interesting to see.

I'm going to speculate this articulation on Cody:

-Ball/socket elbows (I know that looks like a right arm angle-cut joint, but I think if you check out ball/socket elbows on Clones, the way the elbow pad is sculpted to hide the joint, it can be posed that way so it looks tricky).
-standard hips
-ball/socket knees
-ball/socket ankles
-ball/socket neck
-ball/socket waist/torso
-standard shoulders.  You can see the shoulders pretty clearly that there's no pin lines for a ball/socket on the right arm,a nd the flatness of the inner arm on the left arm is pretty clear too, so I think the Cos is right there.

I think Cody's close to SA, but his awkward shoulder armor kept him from really getting the full treatment...

BTW I'm sorta bummed they couldn't have made a removable mini-holo Palpatine for his forearm.
