Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Top 5 Hotties

"Stuff" isn't just the title of the magazine, it's the urge you get when you're done looking at the pictures...

With customizing, it's one of the few areas I view as "the more the merrier" with posting...  I think cross-traffic with the niche isn't terrible, however I share your opinions of Rebelscum's customizing forums.  They're not my favorites and after my impromptu banning at Rebelscum (and my impromptu reinstatement, neither with really much of any reason given for WHY), I can't say that I MISS Rebelscum at all...

It is a lot of "wow", with little more.

But, JediDefender's pretty established that we're not going to have a Customizing focus.  I only highlight customs that I think have a broad appeal to the collecting hobby as a whole, and JD's not looking to build a customizing focus (that's not to say we're not EXTREMELY proud of our customizing community.  To me it's a solid group filled with experienced customizers, novices, and experts, and all who share information...  I'm impressed with it).

I think Customizing focuses are best left to the experts though, and that is www.FFURG.com.  The idea's sound, but it's basically the Critique of the Week concept that FFURG has run in the past.  I think it's a good idea, and that FFURG is the vessel that can carry the idea.  That's not to say we'll never change our mind, but right now we're focused on bringing news about collecting to the broader audience.  I love customizing but I have to admit it's a niche within a bigger beast.

If minds are changed on this, we'll certainly let you know right here.

Yeah, having VOTC Vader I can't say that he was hot on my list, but having seen the figure at C3 with its removable helmet, then I'm inclined to be just as excited about that figure as well.

I'm pretty happy with these sets from top to bottom.  They're just damn nice.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases
« on: June 22, 2005, 12:58 AM »
So this evening I made a toy run...

I picked up:

-Bail Organa
-Supreme Chancellor Palpatine (I got these 2  guys because I simply felt like the toy run was gonna be a bust and I'd been spacing out my ROTS purchases and these 2 are some of the latter figs I needed)
-Ask Aak
-Governor Tarkin
-Meena Tills
-8 Super ARticulated Clones (had on Layaway)
-1 Clone #6

Put another Layaway on as well of a couple more #6 Clones an AT-RT (The WM I was at had had like a dozen AT-RT's the week prior but then BAM they had only one tonight so I got it), and I got an extra Pollis Massan on the order as well.

What a night though...  Thought I wasn't gonna find anything but then the Senators wave was staring at me.  Pretty neat, albeit boring, figures.  My Clone Army got a nice shot in the arm too...  9 Clones with 2 more replacement troops on the way.  Sweet. :)

Went for a toy run tonight and it's the usual suspects, however I noticed that Collection 1's have really dried up, as have Collection 2 Jedi...

The Wookiee and Neimodian are pretty dominant, as are Bail's, Sup Chanc Palp's, and the like...  TRU sucks right now.  No wonder they're such dismail failures to the big retail chains.  They gotta get it together.  Some sales would do them a HUGE ammount of good instead of just having one and then never pushing a sale again.

Found the Ask Aak wave and I have to say that these guys are doomed if they overship.  :)  I love the figures, but the ghost of Orn Free Tah haunts them.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Wookiee Warrior (Sneak Preview)

That's more an issue with the character in the film than the figure too...  The figure's rifle is spot-on to what the props looked like (I got to see the exact rifle at C3 if I'm not mistaken?  The Prequal stuff was so overshadowed by the classic props that I forget, haha).  It's actually, as accessories for figures go, incredibly well made...  Nice paint ap, great sculpt, very detailed...  Same with the helmet and whatnot.

He should've had a bowcaster however, as it seemingly is a more common weapon in the film while this heavy rifle of sorts appeared to be maybe like a U.S. BAR in that it was maybe "1 per squad" kinda dealie.

Now that I think about it...  Jedi certainly got their day in the sun with this line too...  Dooku, Agen Kolar, Ki-Adi Mundi, Kit Fisto...  They're all equal quality to the Clones really.

I'm torn.  I have no favorite in the ROTS, I just like the vast majority they've put out.  Even Mas Ameda's a REALLY nice figure.  It's much easier to point out what sucks...

Right now, my "worst" list would maybe have the Wookiee Warrior basic ROTS figure as the worst.  A terrible figure really...  Mine even are a paint to get to stand because some dickhole decided that bent ankles was a good idea...  Smooooove.

Holy **** this was funny right off the bat...

Shatner's "My Way" was just phenomenal, and the Stormtroopers just made that great.  I think deep downt hat Lucas is the nerd we all are...

This is a good little program.

Right now it'd just be the SA Clone for me.  #41 is the top figure in the line where I'm concerned, but that Royal Guard's a damn close 2nd I think.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: How big is your army?
« on: June 20, 2005, 08:56 PM »
There's some subtle differences to the costume, but it's pretty close to the Snowtrooper in pretty much every way.

I'm hoping they do a Super Articulated one...  If only because I think it was one of the better laid out battle sequences, though brief as it may have been.

The linked to guy's custom stickers are easy enough to print out yourself as well...  Hell, you can take the image he uses and go to Kinko's and have it printed out in any color you wanted really, and for relatively cheap.  Just a thought for those wanting to build a MASSIVE Clonetrooper army with that logo.  It's a good way to go.

Thanks Knash, that's a help I think...  I'll maybe make a little news post about that too since it may help some folks out in their search for these items.

I know I'm wanting multiple Clone sets and at least 2 of each other set (customizing folks!  CUSTOMIZING!), so I think these are gonna be a hot line of figures.  I just hope the concept in its current form continues with classic product.

Hey Matt, welcome aboard...  That's a nice X-Wing painting you have linked there btw, I like it.  It's a unique style.  You're one in a long line of other Matt's here, including our very own pink-sweater staffer JediMAC.

If you have any questions or anything, just ask...  And enjoy your time here in funhouse!

Hey, Happy B-Day Chris, didn't realize you had that coming up and a lovely server F-Up just as a wake-up call...  That sucks dude!  Hope you had a good weekend to make up for all the work put into the site the last few days.

Well, we'll just not explore that...

Let's just hope it's powered by something less....  uh, painful.
