Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 2008 DVD Releases Thread

I see that Starship Troopers 3 is coming out tomorrow.  Has anyone even seen ST2   ???  I heard that movie sucked, but it obvioulsy must have made some dough to warrent another sequel.

Starship Troopers 2 was god awful. There were boobs in it, though, so... but yeah, if you pick it up, don't expect a sequel to Starship Troopers - instead, just think of a movie, filmed in a hotel, using a few Starship Troopers props (guns, helmets) and nothing more. Don't expect bugs, don't expect landscape, don't expect anything at all... because you won't get anything but really, really dark and close quarters shots of people destroying their scripts.

On that note, I can't wait to pick up Starship Troopers 3 for about $5... I love terrible movies, so long as I go into it knowing it's going to super-suck.

I completely agree...I picked up Starship Troopers 2 in a 2 for 1 deal with the first one.  I couldn't have been more disappointed.  I am either going to rent the new one, or see if it shows up On Demand.

Does Arnie still make the annoying whinning sound? "But I NNNEEEDDDD IT!" His wife needs to slap him more often.  ;)

I don't think he has used that one for a while...you can always check the backlog of episodes.  They had great coverage of SDCC...2 hour+ podcast.

Star Wars Action News has an interview with eFX in one of their recent podcasts.  eFX said they were having a bit of a problem with the sonic screwdriver getting sound components into it.  However, the BBC said that they would use eFX's prop in the show if everything gets fixed.

I have to say, Dumbledore really lets his hair go in five to seven years.  In the Riddle at the orphangan scene he has shoulder lenght dark hair with a small beard, but in the Chamber of Secrets flashback, both hair and beard are long and grey.  I think the young Riddle is supposed to be about eight (maybe five at the youngest) and around 15 or 16 during the flashback, so maybe 10 years max.

I'd would love to do a freeze frame on the bottles of memories to see if we could read all the labels.  Seems they are doing the Pensieve a bit differently than before.  I really wished they would have used it in OoTP per the book instead of Harry breaking through Snapes defenses.

How much was the Republic Gunship and the AT-TE during their first release?  I don't remember them costing this much.
I think the Republic Gunship was about $100 and the at-te about $60 plus they came with more clones.
Gunship was $89.99 for 686 pieces and the AT-TE $69.99 for 646 pieces.  I think the newer sets have more pieces.

Phruby, I do believe that was a breast...I doubt that would make it to the Sci-Fi channel.

Probably to get us excited...also, does this series get shown on the BBC at a later date?  They are a bit more liberal with what can be seen on TV and they would let the scene go.  In the US, it would not make it on anything but HBO et al.

Then why is it there? Is it a deleted scene easter egg for the DVD in a few years?

I still use the vintage pillow cases.  If they really want to give love to the big kids, they need to do a king size set.  A king size bed is really the only way to go...sleeping in a full with another person feels like have two people in a twin after you have gotten used to a king.

Since we had a few months off on Star Wars toys, they really made us pay for it this past weekend.  I just picked up all the clone wars Legos yesterday.  Bit of a sticker shock when you pick up everything due to the amount of larger sets.

Another lego clone wars set. You could only get it from San Diego Comic-Con though and only 1200 were made.

I managed to snag one.

Anything different in this set as opposed to the widely released Hailfire Droid?

He might as well put up a sign that says, "Hey Mr. Sansweet, are you interested?"

er... so the prototype cylon is a skinjob?!?!?! WTF?
Why make lesser models if you have that technology already...
Well hopefully it will make more sense when watching it.

It makes sense because he is replacing his daughter.  I think the controversy will be over that issue which will lead to the creation of the Cylons that looked like the original series.

Phruby, I do believe that was a breast...I doubt that would make it to the Sci-Fi channel.

Sad, but not only do I have to work that day,we have no internet at my work place either.Hopefully the EXCLUSIVE title is just that it is being sold @ SSC.If not, there will be some very irritated collectors who won't be able to get their hands on one, except on the secondary market.

I'm surprised Vader is not an inclusive edition, however, for you and others at work without internet, copy down SS's customer service number.  If you are a subscriber to the newsletter, you can call at 10 AM PST and order over the phone.  You just need to give them your email address to confirm that you are eligable to order.  I did this for the old Kenobi since the website was having problems that day.

I was surprised they didn't have something Clone Wars related out this year.

There are some pretty good rumors that there will eventually be a Clone Wars ornament item this year, but due to the whole 7/26 date, they couldn't/can't sell it yet.

I would be surprised if we saw one since they released everything except the minis set on 7/26.

Wow, a whole lot of SG alumni on the show.

I taped the episode and actually did a rewind to view the credits when I saw Picardo's face at the end.  I agree that they shouldn't spoil things like that...just reuse the old credits until episode two.

I haven't heard anything about the Col. Carter show, is it another spin off?
