The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 11 (aka 2010 Wave 1)
« on: January 4, 2010, 10:05 AM »
Bump for 2010; according to all sources this Wave should be out now.

Seems like an opportune time to start my first "WHERE THE F ARE THE NEW TOYS" rant of the year.  ;D

This Wave has been around since SDCC, so I figure they may as well go ahead and put 'em out. Last new TCW wave was what, 3-4 MONTHS ago? (!)

I'm officially jonesing for new swag.

Yeah, it does get confusing with so much "recycling" going on in the various lines.

I guess I tend to think of re-packs more like something that has already been released in that line previously, and ONLY the packaging is different.

I fully agree there is no justification for jacking the prices on these things so they are out of line with similar items. (ala TRU and Ponds)

I would hope that with the 100% re-pack nature of these two sets, it will mean that TRU simply has two sets to sell at their $17.99 price point for the deluxe line that WalMart and Target can't get.

Is the STAP with Battle Droid really a re-pack? It looks like an update to the original TCW STAP that came with the B'Omarr BP. At least the Paint apps are updated from what I can tell. I can't say for sure if they did anything with the droid though because the pic resolution is not so great.

Got these today, 2 of each. Wonderful choices(Bit so-so on the Spacetrooper) and really great use of parts and spectacular paint jobs, really good. Poped a second Jaina head on a female X-Winger, so got that covered. Used the spare Jacen body with Comic Lumiya Lukes head for a different outfit. A spare Whipid and Togruta won't go astray either. :)

Just to clarify, so my blood pressure won't skyrocket, you mean you got these IN THE MAIL today, right? You didn't just walk into Walmart and see them on the pegs or anything did you?

Did you? :o

YEAH! This is marvelous!

I've never even heard a whisper of this STAP exclusive before...awesome alert! I can't tell from the picture, but I assume this is going to come with updated Paint Apps from the version included with the B'Omarr Monastery BP?

I wonder when TRU will have these up on their website...

OH SNAP!!!

January is going to be a great month for the TCW line...these both look awesome and I can't wait for them to start showing up at retail!

Why no pics of the AT-RT set though? I am super psyched for that one and it is supposed to be in this same wave.

Thanks for posting those photos Mods!

Wow - awesome! I wonder how that picture got leaked. Is this something they're going to hold back until the Fall re-boot though, or is it likely to hit shelves this Spring?

Yep, that's the one...no figures included with the one I bought, but I already have them all loose anyway, so no worries. I really just wanted the cardboard backdrop, since I already have an extra snow base, but it is IMPOSSIBLE to find the backdrops by themselves. So you're pretty much forced to shell out for the whole deal.

I still need NINE other playsets, some of my originals did not make it through the years, at least not 100% complete and intact. (Death Star, Star Destroyer, Ewok Village, etc)

This is a good area of focus for me right now because for the most part, they're literally cheaper than the remaining figures and vehicles I have left to acquire.

Picked up the Rebel Command Center playset last night for a good price on eBay. This was one of the very few playsets I never got as a kid, so I am excited to get my hands on this finally.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / The Clone Wars: Best of 2009

Figured the line deserves its own thread in the appropriate forum.

It's a bit tricky to make a definitive statement because for the most part I am a strict non-opener, but I actually started buying extras this year because some of the swag was so cool.

Best TCW figure: Luminara Unduli

Best TCW vehicle: Octuptarra Droid (finally bought an extra and put it together X-Mas day, what a marvelous design!)

What did you guys really like this past year?

No matter where I go, I can't see that Juno picture at work. (%@^#*& Websense!)

Is it a man or woman? It appears to be some sort of disturbing androgynous blend, with the face of a man and the cleavage of a woman.

Let me guess - EU character.  ::)

Aw yeah, I got my Blue Apron Ugnaught in the mail yesterday and it was actually the one I needed! (have had mixed success trying to score the right variant in the past)

Looking like a quiet end to the year, not much else out there right now, vintage or otherwise.

Wow, thanks for that link! I had no idea this was even available yet. After the Euro to dollar conversion it looks like this is about $115, not including shipping. Yikes!

Still, it's great to have some confirmation it is out there. I am definitely ordering one...someday.

Interesting response from the latest round of Q&A:

Another rumor is that the ARC-170 Shadow Fighter has doomed the $69.99 Deluxe Vehicle Assortment. This is true to an extent, since the slow rate of sale of the ARC-170 Shadow Fighter has not given the Y-Wing a lot of daylight to shine. Still, when the Y-Wing has gotten out there, it has not done as well as the Turbo Tank. We don't think it's because the Y-Wing isn't a great vehicle, but more to do with there currently being less discretionary purchases above $50 in '09 than we saw in '08 when both the Millenium Falcon and AT-TE were successful.

Maybe people just don't want to pay $70 for a crappy repaint?

In another question someone asked about new mid sized vehicles for next year, and they alluded to ANOTHER repainted Gunship. (What is that, six or seven now?) This seems senseless to me, as we still need the updated Geonosian Starfighter from the "original" CW non-animated line. They have the perfect excuse to make this now, with that 4 part ARC from earlier this season.

It wouldn't hurt to give us Dooku's Solar Sailer too...

CONFIRMED for the mid-size vehicle line, Fall 2010.  :)

1. Things have been awfully quiet on the mid-sized vehicle line. We got a couple of great new additions this past summer (still loving the Droid Tank), but nothing since then. Any chance that you can spot us a couple of hints on upcoming starfighters/ships we'll see on the shelves this Spring?

** Unfortunately, there won't be any new ones this Spring. The Starfighters are doing well, but the new wave that was planned for Spring won't make it out at this point and has been pushed out to Fall '10. When the new assortment starts up, it will be chock full of newness. We can confirm that both the new Snowspeeder and a new Cloud Car will be in the line. Stay tuned for official looks at this at Toy Fair.

Umm, WTF do all those Hasbro employees plan to do for the first part of 2009? Sit around and play Tetris? Are you guys putting ANYTHING out?

I would love to see the look on their CEO's face when the production team announced they are pretty much taking the first 8 months or so off. "I see...and how exactly do you expect me to pay your salaries? From that My Little Pony slush fund?"

Maybe they could use the down time to find a new factory. They seemed to have a lot of problems with the old place this year.
