Funny how, when thinking of fantasy Hockey, the question even needs asking about the variable of rule enforcement.  That should be such a non-issue, but yet it's still there lingering...  I think NHL Ref's uniforms should be mandatory pocketless ones.

Add me to Jay Double's list of positive feedback supporters.

He was willing to send me a Tarrful BK figure for free just because he had one loose.  I totally appreciate it as it brought my goal of all the little BK plushes this much closer to completion!  :)

Thanks man, I owe ya one!

Pittsburgh's on a freakin' spree. :)  Ziggie Palfy was the big one gaining the most attention around the city so far...  This whole thing's been weird to watch though...  Never seen so much movement.  I think the "he who hesitates, masturbates" phrase may be something we hear into the season for the teams not making many moves.  I mean, you have your cap, you know what you gotta do, so I'd be moving...

Lots of names still gonna be moving around though for sure.  This is fun, and yet sort of frightening to watch.

I think someone did this Custom, Jared...  Darth Delicious perhaps?  Not sure what head he used though.  I know I saw this somewhere recently.

I'm amazed he's warming pegs for you already...  He's yet to be seen on pegs by most out here...  He was even relatively "rare" at the Toy Show amongst the other scalped items.  He can pegwarm all he wants here for me, as I'll be picking extras up randomly for the obligatory Jedi Customs. :)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: EP3 Clonetroopers
« on: August 8, 2005, 12:52 AM »
No black pilots in the film...  As near as I can tell, the only pilot variation we would've been shown that got axed was the V-Wing Pilot...  He's a HUGE change too, and not much like any other pilot except his helmet is closer to a TIE Pilot's in look, but color he's like nobody else.

I'm all for the EU stuff, even if it's not in any EU material but Hasbro-made...  They have the Clone Commander mold, so I'm all for milking that to get more Clone COmmanders (I also treat that sculpt as an E3 era ARC Trooper's uniform...  I personally don't bite on all the ARC's dying off, or new ones not being trainded/created).  To that end I could fit the green CC in anywhere really, or just make him part of a green legion...

Same with the black pilots and such...  The Target Clone's I just treat as Neyo Grunts we don't see.  I'm sure that planet had more than 2 guys (the Commander and what I'd assume was an aide or accompanying officer) roaming about...  It's all in what you like though.  I'd take a Super Articulated Kyle Katarn figure and Darktrooper you could fit a SA figure into over any of these. :)  The ultimate EU figs IMO.

no problem, it's yours remind me next time we get together.

Thanks a ton bud, I appreciate it!  He and Tarful were the two main ones I wanted, so now I just need a Boga for a complete set and I'd dig an extra Chewie if I can find it...  I'd be set then, but for now I'm gonna be happy even if I don't get the Boga and extra Chewie.

Cool beans man, thanks a ton!

Could always just try picking up a piece of gear, just one, test it out to make sure...

Also, there's a company called Cotswold Collectibles that specializes in custom 12" gear that I think's pretty universal.  The USAF secrity wear like red berets, right?  Or am I mistaken?  Anyway, maybe could find a nice cloth one or something...  See if they're more up your alley.  They may do better on price, but I don't know about quality.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: EE Exclusive Astromech 5-Packs
« on: August 5, 2005, 11:58 PM »
My opinion stands that htey're pricey unless bought by the case, but even then they feel like "less" than what you got with the Clones when bought by the case.  I don't know why, they just don't feel substantial by comparison, and as such the price stings a bit more...

A key to remember is that if EE can sell a case, and bring the "per-figure price" down to $6-ish, then they're profiting at that price and really the individual and double-pack offerings are mark-ups on EE's part, not Hasbro's...  The Hasbro minimum is probably the case per-figure price though, which is right there around retail...  Granted, they're not the most "substantial" things either.  Some accessories would be nice, at least...

Not to mention, as always, that astromechs are sculpts the company has...  The cost to manufacture an item you already have mold toolings for is SUBSTANTIALLY less, so the profit margin is much more in favor of the company than any newly sculpted item.

I love the sets myself, I think they look neat, and at $6-ish a figure for repaints I can bite and not feel bad (getting in on a case with local friends is the key though there).  It's the separated pieces that really stings though.  At LEAST buying one of each set should only cost you $6-ish a figure.  Breaking up the sets though to buying only a single one of the two, that is a risk for EE so I can see slight increase there.

I've found a group I can go in on a case with locally so I'm thinking I will get my set...  That's cool.  The good thing with astro's is I only want the one set too...  In that regard I definitely still dislike the Clone situation MUCH more.  I wanted such an army of white Clones and never have gotten it thanks to the absolutely ****** way in which that exclusive was handled.  I hold much more resentment there.

And personally, I don't see many pictures of 100 Episode 2 Clones all in a row like I see of other BETTER released army builder figures...  Seems like that set just wasn't  as much meant for "army builders" as people boasted it was.  And the only people who suffered were the army builders who could only sit by and watch.  That's what I'll always resent EE for on those sets.

If they picked the right figures, I'd actually consider picking these up...  price hike and all.

If Kyle Katarn got a 12" figure though, forget it...  I'm there.  He's only the best EU character EVER to come down the pike...  I can imagine them decking him out with the shitloads of gear he uses in the games too.  Oh man...   Maybe even multiple heads for the various stages of his "aging".  Like NJO era with grey streaks and beard, the classic trilogy era with no grey and stubble beard, etc...  Sweet.

And the gear...  IM Mines, Thermal Detonator Bandoleir, Imperial Railgun with explosive projectiles, Imperial Repeater Rifle, Imperial E-11, Bryar "pistol" Sawed Off Blaster Rifle, Fusion Cutter...  And his harness/PDSU, and of course a nice kick-ass Qu-Rahn Lightsaber...  Oh yeah, and his headset w/IR Goggles, head lamp, etc.

Katarn could be the ultimate SW figure.

Thanks Matt...

Yeah, I lucked into the Tarkin Wave once, and like many others I never saw it again.  It was abundant when I found it though...  I guess it's reshipping, so hopefully everyone's going to have a chance to pick him up soon.  He's pretty good, but the more I notice that oddly tinted skirt-piece, the more it sticks out as a negative ont he figure.

Definitely noticeable color variation there.

They're all 1:6 scale of course, as you know...  I've never seen a BBI 12" figure opened to really compare it much to my Dragon figures...  I believe, but don't quote me, that Dragon's a substantially higher quality than BBI, but BBI's higher quality than 21st Century Toys...

I'd say if you were comparing, Dragon and Sideshow are probably more comparable in quality overall.

As far as accessories, I'm assuming you mean do the hands of a BBI figure fit a Dragon figure?  I can't be 100% sure but I would think that they would.  Again though, I'm just not terribly sure.  :-\  Gear like clothes, helmets, etc...  That all is universal generally.  Dragon gear should fit a Sideshow figure, or BBI, or 21st...  I've never run into problems interchanging gear like that.  The hands issue though,t hat could pose a problem for ya Chris...  Though in general they're similar constructions, at least at the wrists.

Power of the Jedi / Re: Rare? Medium Rare? Medium?
« on: August 5, 2005, 10:58 AM »
I meant grey jumpsuited guys...  Just the POTJ/Saga guys, but in grey for "techies".

I want ALL new Impy Officer officers though...  as opposed to Techies...  But Hasbro's given us Ozzel, who ultimately is ok, but man he ain't what I want.

The Empire's in dire need of black, and grey tuniced Officers by the truckload.  Generic heads...  whatever.

Tarkin I kinda want separate, though a re-used body would be alright I guess, but I'd dig Tarkin with a little extra effort at the arms for that classic "contemplating" pose just before he dies...

My ideal Imperial Officer would be a resculpted Veers w/removable armor/helmet/belt/hat, and Hasbro then just re-used that figure for generic "troop builder" guys down the line but with new headsculpts.

That Veers just seems like it's a pipedream.  :(  Wish they'd surprise us with that one.

It's buying individually that really is the stinger in the whole thing...  I feel for ANYONE inable to get in on cases with their local friends.  That's what makes things a bit more pallatable.

Hopefully you'll find him soon with all the reshipping of figures JediSearch...  He's in some cases I guess.  He's really pretty good...    Not a good base for an OTC Tarkin really, I'd like a new one ultimately that has better arm articulation and can perhaps sit.

Not sure on a softgoods skirt though dafoo...  I like softgoods, but on the very rigid looking uniforms of the Empire I'm actually not sold.  The thing about skirts is that you can make them look good on Jedi with using cloth...  On the more smooth Imperial uniforms though, I'm more towards them just using highly pliable plastic with slits on the side.  It works just fine if they use the right plastic...

Nightclub obi-Wan has a highly flexible skirt, and other toy lines use very flexible plastics/rubbers for this reason too.  The LOTR figure line for instance uses plastics like that, as does the X-Treme Detail line which is 3.75" scale itself.  (their Battle of the Bulge Germans have trench coats that actually don't hinder their leg articulation AT ALL...  Neat stuff!)

Thanks everyone...

Yeah, Ki-Adi's one of those times ya wanna pat the Hasbro guys on the back for a job well done (while taking a moment to whisper in their ear that this is how they should do damn near ever figure!).

Ki's robe is probably one of my favorite features.  I love having him with the hood up over his cone-head.  It's great looking.  I picture him making battle-plans on Mygeeto with the Snowclones and Bacara...  Sweeeeeeeet.
