Revenge of the Sith / Re: What figures are hard to find now?
« on: June 2, 2005, 08:21 PM »
Weekend/week of the premiere I'd say the mains had become a lot harder to find...  I went out briefly last night and there was replenishment.

In my area, this is a general look at what's tough to find:

-Jedi...  Collection 2 and Collection 1.  Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace, Agen Kolar, Kit Fisto, Sae Sae Tinn, Plo Koon...  The only easier figures to find were Anakin, Shaak Ti, and Luminara.  The others have dried up some.  Why Anakin's around more than others is a mystery.

-Royal Guards (Red or Blue, though Blue's seemingly been easier to find, with good reason).  I'd like at least 6 more red's, and honestly I'd probably NOT stop buying the RG's for some time (red or blue).  Senators need guards, Palpy's need guards, and customs galore...  I want more of that figure.

-Clones...  Clone Commanders and Pilots are more abundant, but Basic White Clones (TE Gunner, #41, #6) are gone about as fast as they're put out.

-Battledroids dried up, and I'm not really surprised.  Even the SBD's which were wildly abundant have dried up...

-Surprises?  Padme, 3PO, and Mon Mothma....  These all sorta disappeared.  I see one or two here and there, but not much compared to what was out.  Oh, and Chewbacca.  Not that he's a huge surprise, but just that there were SO many of him and now he's pretty well sold through.

What's hanging around though?

-Recently heavy shipped figures like the Destroyer Droid, Neimodian Gunner, and Wookie #2...

-Tarful

-Deluxe...  ALmost all, save for the most recent releases.

-Clone Pilots & Commanders (Commanders are mounting up but still sorta selling it seems).

-Bail Organa

-Grievous Exploding

-Mas Ameda

I'm sure I'm missing some things too...  WM's were pretty well hit and cleared after the film's release, at least in my area.  I was impressed.  I think it's amazing what a GOOD film can do for a toy line rather than 2 lackluster films that weren't "cool" to enjoy.

And also a much superior toy line compared to the last 2 films.  These figures are outstanding not only compared to Episode I's launch and II's as well, but just in a general comparison to the toy aisles at stores...  Hasbro put out a better product that rivals other lines for once.  It 's working for them.  It worked pretty good for OTC as well, so it's nice to see the line actually "compete" better than it has in past years.

I'm sure we'll get to a point of over-production on a lot of stuff...  I think the army builders will move slowly, but the Neimodian and DD have the toughest job of selling I think.  I'll buy Neimodians, but I know not EVERYONE will want an army of him.  Wookiees I think have some backing by the kiddies...  I'm gonna cover my bases and get some of the "odd" stuff that didn't really make the film that I hadn't picked up yet...  The movie was really inspiring to WANT to buy things I hadn't picked up yet, and that's a pretty great thing.  I know Episode II didn't give that kind of feeling after seeing it, except I wanted a GOOD SA Clone (that ultimately I couldn't get many of anyway, even still  ::) ).

If his dialogue's anything to go by as far as his romantic ability...  He's gonna need every penney.

I see Sonic mentioned, and Sonic pisses me off.

They advertise RELENTLESSLY on my TV...  Their food looks good, and different, and there isn't a SINGLE Sonic in the Pittsburgh area.

IHOP does the same thing...  Not a single one in the area, and they advertise like mad.  That's teasing.

I have a fairly hefty Starcom collection.  Not sure if you're familiar with that line or not 10", but it was one of the most innovative toy lines (IMO) of the 1980's.

Incredibly structred and realistic too, and even had a cartoon series that lasted a little while (very good too).  I've bowed out of the hobby for a while...  It's relatively inexpensive to collect though, and unless you're going for the rarer stuff (European releases and such) then it's pretty easy to obtain a "complete" U.S./Canada collection.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Tion Medon

Yeah, I wonder if he had a scene leading his "warriors" into battle now that the movie's out...  Makes one wonder anyway.  Chalk this one up to "stuff that we got that wasn't on-screen" I guess.  Like the Aerial Assault Clone, or Stass Allie on a BARC instead of a basic Speeder Bike.

Thanks for the responses...  I still think he's boring since his time in the movie was "meh", but I liked him in the film too.  I think Admiral Ackbar's boring overall but I couldn't be happy if he didn't have a figure.  ;D

You'll be alright Shannon, trust to that.

Hmmm, hot Jedi?  I was gonna post a pic of an overweight one, sweating up a storm...

Here's one for ya!

It's a joke and a "hot Jedi" all in one.

Toy Reviews / New JD Review: Tion Medon
« on: June 2, 2005, 01:58 AM »
The Pimpmaster of Star Wars may have been usurped...  Lando may have been dethroned.  The only cause could be an impressive pimp cane...  Tion Medon's got that!

Check the full review out Right Here and chime in with some thoughts on him.

I dig Tion...  He's not the most interesting guy to stick into a preview wave though, and his roll in the film is so brief and uninteresting that it's just rough to stomach that he was one of the preview wave.  How's this guy gonna make anyone pumped for Star Wars, ya know?  Hasbro does a boring "Senator" kind of figure much justice though, and that's good news.

But, with that said, he's an impressive sculpt, and he was a sign of great things to come for even the most dull of figures in the ROTS line-up.  Tion's sporting lots of articulation, a couple nice accessories...  That quality carried over, so that's a fantastic plus to us action figure fans.

So read, drink, and be merry...

Good thing we don't have a quota. :)  Welcome on over...  Always nice to see a new face, and one apparantly already known to many.

Have a good one, and enjoy the boards...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Any ROTS Screen Scene Ideas Yet?
« on: June 1, 2005, 05:44 PM »
Oh man, this is one I'm gonna have to think about...  Lots of great scenes though.

I know one I'd want is a Kashyyk scene with a Gree grunt, a new Wookiee Warrior (thinner/shorter), and perhaps a Spider Droid or a beach obstacle/defense shield  and regular battle droid...

I could see an Utapau "Clone Zip Line" scene too...  Include a piece of the railing with maybe some pop off "stilts" so it sits up, and 3 Clones with working zip lines...  Hell, just make a new belt with a hook for the lines and include 3 SA Clones (A Cody, and 2 grunts perhaps?).

ROTS is packed with scenes I'd love to see made into great toys.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Tank Droid
« on: June 1, 2005, 05:41 PM »
With the ARC coming in at $30, I think the Droid Tank could match that price or come in cheaper.  A lot has to do with moving parts and whatnot...  It's not a large vehicle particularly, but its number of pieces (depending how it's made) could be substantial.  A center tread that rolls would be the only feature I was anxious for...  Beyond that I'd be content with a pretty simple toy.  It's small enough that scale shouldn't be an issue, but it might be...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: When will we see pics of new stuff?
« on: June 1, 2005, 05:38 PM »
I'd be content with them stocking up on figures, especially Clones, for a while...  Getting a break isn't a bad thing at this point.

Hell I still haven't seen the medical droid even, though I didn't get out to look much last week for anything...  So I could use a little downtime from "new" figures.

Do its legs pop off like the Spider Droid's?  I have a couple Spidey's laid out with legs blown off and Clones strewn about and charging through...  My mini/temporary Clone Assault diorama while I figure out what to do for an Episode 3 shelf. :)

Love the pop-off parts for "damage" effects.
