Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Suncoast/Sam Goody Clearance

For like $1.30 each I got 2 Tusken Snipers tonight...  Not a lot there other than those, but well worth that kinda money for a figure I saw ONCE in stores otherwise.

I have 25 after a tally tonight...  I scored 2 not TOO long ago at TRU which were greatly appreciated.  I'd dig 5 more for 30 (I've found myself say that same sentence with different #'s in place of 5 and 30 quite a few times now).  I'd love 40...  That's a transport's worth (AT, Sentinel, etc.) and would be my ideal total.  ;D

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jar Jar Binks

I thought he was animated well actually, but the dialogue and manner in which he was present in scenes was what killed him.  You subtitle him, or have 3PO interpret (Or have Padme interpret as if she can speak their language from living on Naboo, and obviously limit some of what he's saying) and I think he'd have been better...  Loyd I think's just a bad actor start to finish.

I agree wholeheartedly with not having to watch TPM and AOTC...  Though I would like my gf to try watching AOTC before this weekend, but that's not going to happen.  TPM though, it really is useless overall.  E2's story sorta helps...  It gives some "beginning" to things as they are ending in E3...  TPM does nothing.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Greivous' Cough?
« on: May 25, 2005, 12:36 AM »
I liked Grievous myself, but for no other reason than he did look neat/sound neat.  He has nice backstory to him, but in the end he was pointless to the plot.  I wound up liking Durge too as a little side character...  To me, the Fett's aren't a lot different (aside from their tie to cloning)...  Side villains that are fun to watch die.

Dooku and Maul, not a lot different either aside from them both being Sith.  They were still just pawns in the grand scheme.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Hands up! or down....
« on: May 25, 2005, 12:34 AM »
Yeah, those early shots with his hands up looked odd...  Even people who aren't die-hards were commenting to me how lame it looked.  I had seen a shot of him on the table with his hands down so I'd assumed he was being changed.

Those early TV spots made his arms look like twizlers though. :)

http://forums.starwars.com/thread.jspa?threadID=221807&tstart=25

It's being discussed a bit at SW.com and maybe it can make what I wanted to say a bit clearer...  My buddy who brought this up to me isn't one to ramble on like a 10 year old thinking he saw something he didn't...  He's got a kid in college, he's a level-headed guy, so I respect his observation...  Whether it's reality or not, I'm not sure, and neither is he, he just is curious and now the Liberty/Democracy lines have thrown a wrench in things...  Anyone recall what that line was when THEY saw it?  We seem to recall Liberty at one showing but Democracy at another...  It is hard to tell if your mind's playing tricks on you though.

The "Boosters" scene was more the order in which the rockets fired...  The one was said to have fired after Grievous' Captain ordered it, the other sequence though was Anakin firing the "boosters" when he ordered all flaps and hatches open.  It's the same scene it's just placed after 2 different people speak their dialogue.

I can't confirm the truth to this, but it sparked some intrigue in me because my buddy was at the private showing with me, then at the midnight premiere, and we're both having similar memories.  Seems odd, to say the least.

Personally, I don't think either uniform is blue.  It's not on my machine anyway, when I mess with the color.  I've lightened it, sampled it, changed it around and it comes up pretty much just black to me, so I'm still going to stick with that.

Zaarin's cutscene I'm leaning towards that just being the lighting.  Vader's blue in the sequence as well, and there's blue light dimliy illuminating the scene (I don't have that scene handy since my pilot's wiped from my computer so I can't access it, but the screencap is blue lit to me and I'd assume Zaarin's in a basic uniform then in my view).

With that in mind, I'm thinking, personally, that the guys in the ROTJ scene are just gunnery crewman.  I have noticed guys in the background that have the Gunner's helmet without the bottom portion to it.  They look like that guy to me...  The shots are a little tough to tell, but the Gunner's helmet (without the bottom) is almost identical to the RFT's helmet.  I think that could be either the Gunner's helmet without all its extra pieces, or a DST helmet with its neck extension, but for now I'm personally sticking with the ROTJ guy being just another form of gunnery crewman...  To me though the uniform looks black entirely, I don't see blue, so it's like the Han Hoth debate all over.  ;D

The Prequel Trilogy / Different Cuts Of The Film?
« on: May 24, 2005, 02:31 PM »
That's the word, and a buddy of mine who I've seen the movie with twice now brought it to my attention and I think he's right...

One difference was in the battle over Coruscant...  When Grievous' ship is falling, it seems the Captain orders the "reverse thrusters" or something to level the ship out and we see the engine burst...  In the other though, Anakin's the one who initiates the engine burst to slow the ship down in its descent...  Did anyone notice this?

Today my buddy mentioned that there's a dialogue difference...  Padme lamenting the rise of the Empire during the Senate sequence.  In one version she says, "This is how democracy dies", and in another she says, "this is how Liberty dies"

Or something to that effect...  I may be slightly misquoting but there's differences I guess people are noticing.

Anyone caught any of that stuff yet?

It glows and makes a humming sound, and a "swish swish" when you swing the confined space...

Oh and you can cut steel doors!

I'm gonna go try this out right now!  YAY!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jar Jar Binks
« on: May 24, 2005, 02:12 PM »
Young Anakin's my beef with TPM as well...  Jar Jar's not the best, but you could've made him a tolerable character.  That Anakin though...  That kid's future is toast.

Like I always say...  "Was the 6th Sense kid busy or something?"

Of course, I'm now completely to the conclusion E1 wasn't a necessity even...  E2 = E1, an E2 that is central with the Clone Wars (the toon era), and E3 then.

19961
I liked some minor stuff from E3 actually...  That film's really locked most of my favorite PT moments at this point.

Spoilers potentially are ahead, incase that's of importance to anyone at this point:

-The Clones supporting Ki-Adi Mundi's assault on that bridge on one of the most alien looking worlds.  THat's hardcore military Star Wars...  Their armor support takes a missle and is blown to hell, the battle seems fierce to say the least, and "Crimson Guard" Snowtroopers?!?!?  Fuggetaboutit!

-The Clone on Utapau that assaults the Crab Droid...  That guy's friggin' hardcore!  Hopping up on the droid and blowing the **** out of it by unloading a clip into its head...  That rocked.  That reminded me of the ARC's in the Clone Wars cartoons!

-Zett Jukassa whipping a little Clone ass...  Lucas's kid is lucky, and that's all I gotta say about that.

-The Federation Cruiser that explodes in front of Ani/Obi...  I love seeing that last shot fired from the Republic cruiser into the Fed ship, and it just breaks apart from the center, exploding and hurling pieces of itself into the opposing ship...  That's sweet.

-The ARC-170 crew being tossed into oblivion...  Sweet.  That's a "frame-by-frame" moment when I get the DVD and can inspect that scene.  I wanna see of the R2's floating along with them. :)

-Wookiee roar...  I like the Wookiees heading onto the beach.  They've got balls the size of church bells under that fur!  They're a tough lot.

-Kashyyk Clone's...  They look fantastic, and they are getting offed left and right.  I loved that whole sequence as short as it was, but the Clones stood out.

-Spider Droid in Water...  I LOVED seeing a "walker" (well, a walking droid anyway) march right out of the water like that Spider Droid did.  It reminded me of a Rogue Squadron level in the one game where Imperial walkers are marching out of a crash-landed Star Destroyer that's half-submerged on a shoreline.  The walkers plodding along out of the water into the surf on the beach.  Sweet.

-Grievous' funky walk to his bike...  I liked to see him act kinda like his "catlike" self in the Clone Wars toons...  I think he was a more badass character in the cartoon by far, but he didn't disappoint me in ROTS either.  He just didn't do a lot.

-Walkers Out The Ass!  There was an AT-TE Troop Transport variant, the AT-AP walker, AT-RT, whatever it was on the bridge with Ki-Adi Mundi and his men, etc., etc...  The Clones are decked out.  With EU slipping many of these Walkers into the Classic era, they're really "universal" vehicles to me now and as accepted with Stormtroopers riding in them/on them as they are with the Clonetroopers utilizing them.  They were great for the "military" nuts like myself.

-The Yoda/Sidious Duel & Ani/Obi Duel...  Spliced together well, breathtakingly fast action, and heart-wrenching moments in both...  My buddy who's a casual fan even left the theater saying that kicked ass.  I couldn't agree more.  It was Star Wars at its best to me.

-Yoda's force bitch-slap to the Royal Guards...  Every theater I've been in, even the uber-quiet private screening I was at, laughed at this moment.  It set the tone for that sequence.

-Yoda blocking Sidious from leaving...  That makes me smile every time.  It's the Yoda you KNOW he is.  The guy that doesn't take anything from anyone, and even Palpatine would've tucked tail from him at first.

Just a handful of moments...  ROTS is packed with great stuff, but the fact I can list so many little things that, to me, mean a lot when I watch that movie...  That's speaking volumes for how much I like the film.  I'm glad things went out like this.  I couldn't be happier right now.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: the Jedi Prophecy
« on: May 24, 2005, 01:50 PM »
Now now...  no fighting.  It's easy to interpet the films any way, and dig into them differently from "our own point of view"...  Let's just have fun now.

Thanks guys.

Freighter dude's a neat background schlub.  Like the Ice-cream maker guy, he fills the void that is "uninteresting people in Star Wars".  Not enough uninteresting characters in toy form really.

Durge looked good...  The Deluxe Durge still ranks as one of my all-time favorite figures, period.  He was the first Super Articulated action figure by Hasbro...  That was $10 well spent.  Sweet addition of, what I assume is, a mace from the AoD line...  He sorta had a thing for melee weapons, and he looks like he can dish out some whoop-ass to Clones. :)

Nice work CHEWIE, thanks for sharing!

PM me with force files you need.  I have a stack of dups...  I got a complete set, but have gotten lots of POTJ fodder so I have many available.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS - #57 and beyond

The "Snowtrooper" guys that take out Ki Adi were among my favorites in the movie.  They looked so incredibly badass in the mostly crimson coloring in the uniform...  I'd take an army of those indeed.

Not to mention the sequence they're in is one of the best IMO.  Very "desperate" and gritty looking war footage, what with the armor support they have (still not gotten a good look at that piece) getting blown to hell on that big bridge...  That's an increidbly alien, and cool world, with an incredibly violent battle, with an incredibly heroic Jedi leading his troops into the fray (only to be mown down)...  I love that sequence.  It's maybe my favorite in the Jedi Purge.
