Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: C3 - Where are you staying?
« on: April 6, 2005, 07:36 PM »
I have your Cell # in my phone Bob, so if you're gonna have it on I'll call you.  Mike was supposed to give me a hand putting the FFURG Table up real quick (just the tables), but if you're around you can coordinate the effort.  Act as foreman or whatever. :)

I'm doing that in the evening.  I'm leaving Pittsburgh around 8 I hope...  Probably just heading from my house down 66 to 70 and on our way then.

Lemme know if your plans are at all similar.

I've got a whole collection of Lego SW you can have for what I paid for it Bob, if you wanted. :P

Catch on or not, I don't have room for all these side-things I've bought over the years like MM's, Legos, etc.  Just too much stuff for too little room.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rebelscum Spam Mail? WTF???
« on: April 6, 2005, 07:31 PM »
The post was kind of you Princess, what with the mention and all.  I'm not expecting anything, but that was a nice thought on your part.

Even if I'm let back in, I'm disappointed and a bit disenchanted as well.  I'll take my place again, of course, as the benefits of having access are there in my eyes, but in the span of a few days I really have grown not to care if I'm there or not as well.  Maybe I'm just too busy with my real life leading into C3.  I got a lot to get done and a short time to accomplish it, so my mind is mostly on stuff that actually has some relevance to my life...  IE: Not Rebelscum and their current "drama/outrageous reaction of the month" club. :)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Religion / Politics

Actually, no, it's not ok here...

We (the staff) made a conscious decision some time ago after much behind-the-scenes discussion to NOT allow War/Politics/Religious debate, long before Rebelscum did actually, and we've been sticking by that.

I took the heat for it at the time, and I'll take the heat for the decision today to lock this as well, as it was my idea to just disallow it in the first place.  Any questions you have can be directed towards me in PM if you'd like, but I felt too much anymosity spilled OUT of that kind of discussion for our boards...  It's something they say not to bring up on a first date, or a business luncheon/dinner and I tend to agree with the notion that, if you want to keep your friends who maybe don't always agree with your POV on major things going on in the world, arguing about it on a Star Wars forum tends to be a bad thing for the forum in general.

Sorry guys, locked up.

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: How big is your army?
« on: April 6, 2005, 04:38 AM »
Rob, thanks man...

Hmmm, I hate Hasbro's constant neglect of GOOD plastic.  They're doing it again, and at this point it's just becoming an insult that you get a figure with accessories maimed beyond believe, or one that collapses under its own weight.

The E1 droids didn't do this, so there's no excuse for anything later to.  That's bothersome to say the least.

A new BD is in order, or the current one needs cast in a distinctly more rigid plastic.  Myself, I'd use the CURRENT one's upper body, and put the E1 droid's legs on it (with the same plastic used as the E1 droids).  Voila, battledroid perfection in my eyes.  Release all kinds of variants and I'd be buyin'.

I appreciate the knowledge that the droid is junk.  He's a clearance item now on my list.

The new droid fall under its own weight CHEWIE, or is it sturdy?  That' s my beef with this figure, is that I can't imagine it being somehow better to AOTC's droids which have the sturdiness of a latex condom.

I have a weak army right now...  1 Col. 1 Clone, and 2 Blue Guards...  I have 3 Wookiee Warriors too.  Beyond that I haven't had time to shop a lot for army builders.  They're about all I'm wanting to pick up right away though.

I'd say that's up in the air at this point (no pun about it wofting about either).

He could have substantial funk.  He appears to never change out of that F'n Flannel shirt though.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Terminator Toy Line... 4" Scale.
« on: April 5, 2005, 10:50 PM »
Yeah, not sure how I feel either...

I don't usually look hard at packaging, and I don't look hard for paint aps unless it's a SW figure, but if this is gonna be a thing where you don't know if you're getting your 4th John Connor or the one figure you do need, then that would suck butt.

If it's army builders galore, I wouldn't care at all though either.

I was told that it was a mistake, and that I've been around too long to be banned for someone else's actions.  Which is fair (to me at least) - I'd like to see a similar offer extended to Jesse and a few of the others.

I'm not gonna count on that happening, but thank you for the sentiment, Rob.

I'd like to see him...  It's one of the few things I'd always appreciate having done I think.  Being "near" Lucas, the cause for my hobby as it stands today.

I don't agree with his artistic visions all the time, but it's his thing too.  I loathe revision over any mistakes his made in the prequals.  To me that's bastardizing art.

I'll definitely see him because he's done more good for me than bad.  That much I can safely say in my heart.  I'd love to have a chat with him, that'd rock.

Almost everything is potential fodder.  The Jedi of course are some of the best, and the next up would be the guards.

Figs like Organa, Mon Mothma, etc., are all great fodder too though...  I actually wish the preview Wookie would show up again because he's dwindled in my area some.  I didn't get many of him on Clearance like I'd like to have done.  :(  He was pretty good fodder.  The upcoming 2nd warrior is good too...  All great repaint material.

Some of the collection 1 figs are less than stellar as not just figures but fodder too.  Obi's, Ani's, Mace...  Bleh.  That's not the majority though.

Even Clones have repaint potential beyond their army building qualities.

I don't have many figures yet, just a few, but I know I'll be buying extras as time/$ permit...  For customs and army building.

Bring 'em on by Jess, no doubt we'll help you with getting a headcast, paint him up...  Something definitely cool and different to add to your shelf.

There's a lot of potential to expanding your display shelves within the customizing hobby, so I think you'd dig checking things out.  We have lots of stuff to display, so make sure you come by the booth or just find me and I'll run you by and introduce you to the gang...  I'll likely be with the JD guys as it is, if not by myself wandering around the show.

We were all camped out at Midnight Madness that whole night anyway...

I was home...  Not that I did anything, but I was here Friday night, sadly.   :-\

Hey Anthony, welcome over to JD...  Any friend of Matt's, and all that stuff...

Have a good time, make fun of Matt all you want (and his sweaters of bright pink), and take it easy.

That's nice of them.
