Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Rebelscum Spam Mail? WTF???
« on: March 28, 2005, 04:01 AM »
Well, I wouldn't count on anything being handled in a manner that says "Hey, sorry, I was wrong", that's for sure.

I think many people here can be quite assured that no matter what you don't like about Rebelscum, the answer there is and always will be, "Well we can just cancel your account to this forum".  I've never seen anyone not give two ***** about other collector's opinions so much.

I think this whole matter is really quite sad, and nobody should be subjected to spam unwarranted.  It's basically been proven that Scum's being abusive of the emails they have, and I'm curious to see how this turns out.

I also love how people who seem to have a "need" of sucking up to the admin over there are quick to Rebelscum's defense too!  That's really classic...   ;D  First to run up and cup the administration's balls while they scold anyone who complains about the spam they got.  God forbid we ever voice a complaint against something they did...  OOOOooo  :)

I guess certain folks just need that forum, and to be in its good graces.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Cloud Car Pilot
« on: March 28, 2005, 03:02 AM »
Nice pics Dean!  He looks bitchin' with the CLoud Car actually.  To me, that ship is one of the best sculpts of the vintage line.  It's to-scale, it is simple (no features or anything), and it's completely accurate in every detail.

A little paint, and to me that's all I'd ever want with a Cloud Car.  It's the one reason I've never really been too vehement on getting the CC made too.  It's still one of the cheaper vintage ships to find and in good condition/complete even.  I'm planning to (if Hasbro doesn't come through) buy 2, and just set them up with the 2 EU Cloud Cars I have...  Like two different models of CC.

He's definitely one of my favorite army builders.  Little bummed on his arm articulation though.  Some angle-cut joints at the elbows would've taken him even further in coolness.

Toy Reviews / Re: JD.com Review: Bespin Leia

I agree Dean...  She's substantially superior in scale.  Probably something I should've mentioned too but this was one I kinda rushed on when I was going over her.

I actually liked the cloth inner-robe at least...  I think the OTC figure could've stood having the cloth skirt, and a pliable rubber outer robe that pops off perhaps.  It would've allowed for at least the standard hip articulation, waist articulation, and that would've been at least a match to the previous figure in quality.

The better sculpt than the PLC Leia is a step forward but it's met by a step back with the total lack of poseability.

I dunno, most other vehicles have much fewer screwholes littering its sculpt, so I agree that it's a major detraction, and with the news that it doesn't have a filler (Stickers would've been simple enough), that's not too swift to me.

Jared, ok I gotcha then.

Yeah, it's short in the length, width, and heighth as well...  If those numbers are actually accurate too.  ;)  Though to-scale wingspan (by the ICS numbers) would be 49" about I think...  A fair size.

I'm losing track between the evolutions set, and the rumored Storm/Clonetrooper 2-pack too.  ::)

If they're SA versions, one can at least look at it and say, "Well at least it isn't $10+ per figure like the EE packs".  However, beyond price itself, the simple fact it's a Target exclusive implies rarity.

I somehow picture the Vader warming pegs and the Army Builder being an incredible bitch to find for anyone, much less something we can army build with.

At the current price it's barely palletable at $8+ a figure (I think that's about what they'd run).  Better than the EE Clone sets but not by much...  And not gonna be as easy to get a set either, if this plays out like nearly every other Target exclusive to-date.

Oh, but of course someone at some site will post how easy they were to find and thaty they're "on clearance", and that "if you don't go often then you didn't try hard enough because I saw a ton", and other such nonsense.

As I recall, more than a couple sites said that the Y-Wing and Skiff were both very easy to get and that everyone had a "fair chance" to get one "If they looked"...  That tune seemed to change some over time, but I recall many people gloating how those were flowing like water at Target stores.

The actual "real" ship you mean Jared?  Or the toy?

Celebration III: Indianapolis / Re: Where are j00 staying?
« on: March 26, 2005, 06:00 AM »
Hampton Inn downtown...  I'll be in Wednesday afternoon/evening to set up what I can for FFURG's C3 booth while my partner in crime gets our stuff unpacked, then she and I are going to trash Indianapolis...  or at least get something to eat.

Then probably try to find Matt.  I'm going to just look for the pink glow, and I suppose Hooters signs.

2x Clone Trooper to Sandtrooper (Pack 2) featuring Clone Trooper (Episode II), Clone Trooper (Episode III) and Sandtrooper (subject to change).

This could be one of the single most popular items in the modern line.

Wonder if "Sandtrooper" is a misprint for Stormtrooper though?

Nice.  :)  More Wookiees for good Wookiee diversity in our armies.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Battle Packs (5 figure sets)
« on: March 26, 2005, 12:06 AM »
Hmmm

just looking at the photo, blowing it up some and trying to enhance it, I see:

-Geonosian Rescue Mace Windu
-Deluxe Anakin (that came with the Geonosian)
-MOTDS Maul
-Final Duel Jango Fett (with the rem. head)
-An Obi-Wan I can't quite make out, but his legs smack of Pilot Obi-Wan

That's the bottom-row of pictures...

The top row looks like all-new figures, except Assajj.

I don't like Anakin's pose...  Assajj will be nice to actually see available only because I only ever saw ONE of her, and dig her character.  She was a good idea.  Yoda I can't make anything out on, and Obi-Wan actually looks like just an articulated version of him, actually, which would be warmly welcomed.  If he's a nicely articulated E2 Obi-Wan with armor that pops off?  No complaints here.  Greivous just looks like the preview one to me.

To that end then, the bottom row blows, top row looks like it could be a 50/50 mix of good and "eh".

Personally, I may be in the minority but I really liked the IDEA of realistic looking Clone Wars characters.  The problem that I think arose was that Hasbro was given a gist of what was coming, but not told specifics of the toons at the time, so what got made wasn't necessarilly great.

If I saw a whole new series of realistically sculpted CW figures, but they were now based on what we know is in the toons, I'd take it.  I'd take a Mace, an Obi in armor, a Yoda (he really isn't all that different in the cartoon than in the movies), etc...  Plus I'd add in new characters like Padme, Republic ground crew, TONS of Jedi (Ithorian, Shistavanean, Sha'Gi, Ki Adi's padawan, Muftak, etc.)...  I'd gladly take new, SA ARC troopers and reissues of the Clones too, of course....

To me, the realistic sculpts are a great idea, and some of the figures were fantastic.  Assajj, ARC Trooper, Sae-Sae Tinn, Obi-Wan, Durge (Deluxe), etc. are all great figures to me...  I'd even say I like Frito Bandito Yoda for what he was...  just something different.

Mace, Anakin, and their ilk aren't too swift though.  :(  It's like they didn't get any reference material for anyone but Assajj, ARC, and Durge prior to whipping the figures themselves up.

Welcome to the group Hansel1, and enjoy the stay...  Like has been said, we've got a good trading community going here, lots of reputeable names, lots of good trades...  The only negative deals I can think of have been just warnings from stuff that happened at other sites.

Good having you aboard.  The more here, the better the trading will get I'm sure.

When I was a wee nipper, we had at least 6 Hardees within the realm of my travels...  Limited as they were.

Rax was huge here too.  There were probably more of those, and I really miss them.  Used to get an Uncle Alligator meal with a Turkey sandwich (which you weren't supposed to get), that the girls made for me special after my mom would pick me up from Kindergarten.  Loved those trips.

Here's something odd going on in my area, and perhaps you're experiencing this too Scott, or the rest maybe are noticing this...  Are your Burger King joints disappearing?  I can only think of 2 near me when there were at one point 6 or 7 I could name off the top of my head.

And now we get commercial upon commercial for , "Ihop", Steak & Shake (Though I know of 2 in my area, and one coming to the new mall opening here out in the boonies where I live), and "Sonic" as well.

We have absolutely NONE of those restaurants except S&S which is almost a novelty here since there's one out at a big development west of the city near the Airport, and one at a big development on the Monongehelia River...  That's it.  People actually treat S&S here like it's fine dining because it's such a rare place around here.

Those others though are non-existant in the Pittsburgh area.  Not a one of them exists, and yet they taunt us with commercials relentlessly.  They make me wanna run out and get that nice looking food, and yet I'm left wanting.  *sigh*

I found a 2nd "Rax" out here.  I'm amazed.  We have 2, both in rather obscure out of the way places.  Neither close to me though unfortunately.  :(  I used to love Rax...  And Hardees too, which last I knew only one was left here, down in a part of the city off the beaten path.
