3 just around Pittsburgh...  Not sure if anyone's gonna even bother locally that I know, though I imagine some will.  I'm going with the intent of buying little.  More hoping to get the local gang out for a drink afterwards...  That'd be more fun to me.

May nab an army builder or two though, just to satiate any figure needs I have that evening.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: ROTS Trailer
« on: March 19, 2005, 02:18 AM »
I got back from the lil lady's this evening after we took a tear to see Robots...  Part of me had the intent of seeing the Trailer only, and the movie was just secondary...  The movie was better than I thought (Funny SW line in it too), but the kicker was the trailer of course.

Seeing it on that screen rocked...  She even commented to me that it looked like a good movie.  This coming from a woman who doesn't look at SW fondly.

The space battles look like if they were in IMAX format they'd make you sick...  which of course now i hope it reaches the IMAX format somehow. :)

Other Toy Lines / Re: Terminator Toy Line... 4" Scale.

Hmmmm....  Thanks man, I appreciate these helpful links Mr.PL.

Sounds like a possible replacement, or at least temporary one, but I'm still intrigued on the Kenner set with the (likely) more poseable figure and eggs with slime.  I dig eggs with slime...  Just keep picturing a great custom diorama of Imperials stuck to the walls of her nest, slime on some...  Couple laying on the floor with their chests burst open.

Morbid, but so damn cool!

EDIT:

Part of me also holds a TREMENDOUS ammount of hope now though that McFarlane sees perhaps that the 4"-ish scale's superior...  That perhaps he'll start catering to it more.  He may make some of the worlds shittiest toys but as stand-in items they'll work, and if they're mini dioramas/playsets then the more the merrier.

TV-9D9 / Re: CLONE WARS Cartoon... Reactions

Nice...  hard to believe these are just due next Monday already...  C3, E3, new figures galore, Clone Wars out the ass...

I'm overwhelmed to say the least.

The teaser commercials are fan-frickin'-tastic too.  The Clones with mini-guns?  Fuggetaboutit!  Gonna be fun...  Gonna be sensory overload too, but it's gonna be fun.

Spirits and Holographics too.  That Holo Emperor SUCKS.

Part of me would love casting a full size GG bust in translucent resin for a giant Emperor head...  That little SSW.com exclusive blew though.

The Holo Sidious was miles superior to that...  Dunno why we got the same thing for $10 that we got basically for free from Frito Lay some years prior.   ::)  And both sucked, but it sucks less when it's free, ya know?  :P

Toy Reviews / JD.com Review: Spirit Obi-Wan (Dagobah)
« on: March 17, 2005, 06:03 PM »

Didn't want to let this go...  My news post on the Spirit Ben already has found its way to the bottom of our front page!  :)  News is just hectic at this time of year I guess, hehe.

Anyway, up next is Original Trilogy Collection Spirit Obi-Wan Kenobi (Dagobah Wave), and this is a dandy of a figure with what I wholely expect to be made into an "alive" repainted version some day as well.  Would I turn my nose to that?  Hell no!

Click Right Here and read the full review, and of course share your opinions here if you'd like or form your own review...  Whatever.

Me, I enjoyed this figure...  It's a massive update.  I'd dig a Ben who could sit since he did sit to explain some junk to Luke, but how does one pull softgoods off in spirit form?  I like to think of myself as a seasoned customizer, and even I'm at a loss on that one short of using the utmost in pliable plastic for the skirt...

It's possible if you went that route though, as there's currently some Germans with trenchcoats in the X-Treme Detail line that the coat flexes tremendously.

I don't know how that would turn out though on a spirit character.

My biggest gripe with Ben though is he makes the other characters in spirit form just look flat out bad at this point.  Yikes!  Hopefully they get redone, and though I'd expect a new Spirit Anakin, I'd like the old style Anakin done up too...  For the nostalgia.  I mean, just use the same mold, ya know?

But, Ben's pretty good... Sparse on accessories like R2 was, but he fleshed out that wave well so just read the review and of course you're welcome to join in the picking of nits if you'd like!

Havne't really noticed that on mine...  I only got one though, so I dunno if that's a potential problem.

I know the Saga R2 that used basically the same body and everything had problems like that though...  Some did anyway.  Sloppy electronics inside.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: 2005 Red Metallic Darth Vader @ Target
« on: March 17, 2005, 05:52 PM »
The good thing for you guys is Target's are a dime a dozen out there in Cali, right?  I always thought they were anyway...

Out in Pitt, they're still sporatic.  There's 5 I can think of off the top of my head, but they're all spaced apart quite a bit, and none are "close" to me.  45 minutes at best, and some a bit more than that.

I'm hoping the 5 have people spread out enough though...  I figure I can hit 2 of them in relative speed, incase.  I want the Vader but part of me doesn't want to deal with this crap either...  That I can skip these and not feel bad about not having a complete chrome set since it's not on the same cardback as all the others.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS Product Leaks: Already?

This one is for Jesse...what "Could" be if Hasbro would just try ...

Hah!  Thanks Paul, I needed a laugh today. :)

I'm actually thankful to see Lucas made the Alderaanians in a separate uniform all together, and the Troops from ANH 100% different and less well clothed.  It keeps with the notion the guys in ANH aren't "Alderaanian Rebels", except for maybe by blood, and that their uniform's a blanket Rebel uniform for all races/species...

I do hope for a new one after ROTS perhaps...  With the future, Hasbro said they were running with army builders more because they were awakened to that market niche within the brand, so I'm hoping classic AB's will get some facelifts along the way, especially the Rebs (Hoth, Fleet Troop, Endor)...  They are overdue for some quality, poseable, neutral figures.

The pic gave me a laugh man, thanks.  :)  Good to hear from ya too, it's been a little while.

To me, that's the marketing campain shot of a lifetime that Hasbro SHOULD have been using.  Little vision there on their part.  That just looks kickass.

Way to go man. :)

Interesting too, the ad for the 4" Snapkit Alien Vs. Predator figures says USCM's too Mr. PL (and others interested).  Could it be we'll see a 4" scaled Vasquez, Hicks, or the rest of the squad?

I'd take ANY of those ASAP.  :)

Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: RED ARC Trooper?
« on: March 15, 2005, 09:25 PM »
One of the few figures I've never seen...  Never picked one up, never saw one on pegs...  Can't even trade for one it seems.  Sort of a bummer since he was the more iconic one too, and I'd dig having one.

I plan to whip up my own, but I'd dig a CW one for my collection too of course.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: March 15, 2005, 05:33 PM »
Most Pittsburgh News stations are running a thing where they tell you the cheapest in your area.

I'm irked because Giant Eagle is under fire here because they are giving the $.10 coupons for shopping at their stores (Every $50 you spend gets you $.10/Gal. off at "Get-Go" pumps), and now all the gas stations are bitching that it's not fair and they're trying to get it stopped.

Which, if they did do that, I'll be going to Get-Go out of spite to the others, irregardless.  Their price will just be the same as everyone else, so I'll go there and give the finger to all the other stations.  They can lose money.  I hope they rot, the bastards.
