The Wookiee Arcade / Re: Battlefront at Star Wars.com
« on: August 27, 2004, 11:59 PM »
I would say, in short, that the game's squarely aimed at Multi-Player and that any Single-Player gaming is highly limited.

IE: No story, no comprehensive successive levels that lead to a goal, etc...  Not a typical SP game really.

Battlefront is, from my POV, shaping up to be nothing more than a clone of Battlefield 1942 or Battlefield: Vietnam...  Good games, but not aimed at the SP gamer.

Perhaps Lucasarts will commission a "BattleFront: The Series" kinda game...  Something that clones the Call of Duty or Medal of Honor series, which are intense, semi-realistic, and fun squad-combat FPS games with a Single-Player Focus.

That'd be about my assessment too Bob.

The thing is, Galaxies throws out some of the most explosively realistic Star Wars galaxy images of, basically, nothing from the Star Wars galaxy.  Just an average day on Kothloth St. in the Xorn province on Dalaxia IV.

In short, again, nothing.

Maybe Tom Grasswhacker's out washing his speeder, or some Rodian Kids are riding their hover-bikes down the street...  Just nothing.

It's weird.  I like looking at it though.  :)  The imagery is impressive, to say the least.  My desktop was an AT-AT roving Tatooine's Dune Sea for the longest time...  Now it's a Battlefront AT-ST armored column with Infantry Support.  Love that Officer that looks like he's taking the reigns at the front lines.  :)

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Master Phruby is in the house!

Paul, shoot me your image over sometime (you can send to my JD.com address if you want.  Should be on my profile on the front page).

Not to toot my own horn but I think I probably have the largest generic 3.75" action figure noggin' collection on the net.  I can at least aim you the right way(s) perhaps.

Just lemme know!

Yeah, as much as I hate to have something to dump on Lando, which is a great figure, those two things were (I felt) legit gripes.

As great a figure as it is, Lando was pretty action-packed in the costume so I'd like to see a better articulated leg region.  At least ball/socket knees, though knees/ankles (at this stage of the Star Wars line) are worthy I feel.

The flimsy weapon was, without a doubt, the most  noticeable and immediate detractor on the figure.  The pike mine came with was bent in the packaging and I knew this was a bad thing coming. :(

The leg articulation's more a thing that, after playing around with Lando, I finally thought that he'd be neat to pose like he's trying to pull himself out of the Sarlacc and stuff.  :)

That pike sucks though.  Great sculpt, craptacular plastic though.  :(

I'll just say now that I've done a bit of trading with Paul in the past, and he's a great guy.  Someone I'm proud to call one of my friends here on the net.

If you wanna trade with him you're sure to be happy with the deal.

I've done quite a few trades and he usually goes above and beyond what we even agree to.  Guy is just an asset to the community!

Power of the Force 2 / Re: The Beginning of POTF2
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:07 PM »
I was similar to your story Bob.

I was buying MicroMachines actually...  That was my thing.  I eventually started going online about the same time too and started looking at modern figures.

Before all that I bought some of the RPG books for just "good reading", some of the miniatures, and I collected/customized Vintage.

I was a G.I. Joe brat though, not a Star Wars fan till proobably the later 80's.  I liked Star Wars as a kid, but didn't collect it because G.I. Joe was just a better toyline to me from a child's standpoint (more fun, more vehicles, etc.)...

Joe was my life though...  Had EVERY figure.  In fact the only things I didn't have were redeco exclusives, Sears Exclusives, etc...  Oh, and the FLAGG which wouldn't fit in my room.  :)  Had that all though, and hardly any Star Wars.  They were good for accessories for my Joes and for use as the helpless scientist or something.

Vinty caught my eye when I was watching Empire and Jedi on NBC one night, and I wanted to collect the old toys...  Before long talk of new films, re-released films, and then in 1995 a whole new action figure line.  And the rest is a sad pouring of $ into Hasbro.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Boba Fett..... Voiced by Jango Fett?
« on: August 27, 2004, 06:02 PM »
I hadn't heard he didn't like SW, but ya know I'm not surprised either.

I can stmach Boba's voice changing though I like the idea of his original sinister voice more...  I coulda bought that even if there was some excuse that he had the raspiness to it or whatever (throat injury...  heavy smoker?  I dunno).

The stormies, I'm praying, aren't changed is all.

Hey IV, glad you could make it...  I rarely run into you at Scum anymore so I'm glad you decided to come around here.  You'll fit in I'm sure.

Have a good one man.

GNT go away?

I believe that's what some would call a "Turd that won't flush".  :)

Ultimately, some names listed are likely in the running for mod-nod, honestly.  Durge too I'd think.  They keep letting him back so they obviously like him to some extent...  I dunno if Philip likes him personally or what...  He gets back in though, and we all know Scum's not keen on letting banned folks back in routinely.

There's a reason there...

Episode 1 / Re: Begun, my Bonus Pit Droid collection has...
« on: August 27, 2004, 02:44 AM »
That's a good question, as there WAS a tool box in the Wave 2 sets, I can confirm that much, but I can't say I've ever seen the Bonus Droid boxes to compare.  :(

If yu can supply an image Schneider, I can compare for you at least...

And thanks for dropping in.  Feel free to say hi in the intro portion of the forums...

I'll try digging those accessories out.  I have them set aside on my E1 shelf (opened).  The wave 2 accessory sets were so astonishingly better than Wave 1.  It's another one of those things where Hasbro kinda tanked the first series then put out decent stuff in the second but they judged the entire line on those 1st sets.  That's disappointing because they really did improve things VASTLY.

Weird, but purging the forums there has happened before...

I could think of a list of people Scum wuld give the mod-nod to given their track record.  Gen. Windu and "Peep Admiral/Yoda Boi" come to mind as people who've had a precedent set for their becoming a mod.

Josh was probably their most active mod there...  I'd imagine they'll attempt a replacement soon.

I agree with that thought Tydirium...

I found Tatooine to flat out suck.  Very bland looking, tons of wild animals biting you at every turn.  No story...

Probably the lack of a story is what disappointed me.  I NEED story.  Story is what a game's based on.  I need the galaxy to be more interesting than me just wandering around doing basically nothing.

I cannot justify paying for that.  I do that in my real life for free.  :)

Oh, feel free to hop over and intro yourself in the section down towards Watto's Junkyard.  I think it's a couple sections below it (tell I don't go often).

And again welcome aboard.  You're a good name to see hopping on!
