Star Wars Action Figures / Re: Master Phruby is in the house!

Nice work Paul, and may I say thank you for A) Stopping over, and B) taking up some of those F'n Padawan figures hanging on the pegs at every WM store from coast to coast! :)

Seriously though, that's some good work.  I bet your son appreciates that.

I myself have pondered doiong some Youngling customs but finding smaller heads is a rarity.  :(

What's the pieces you used?  All new sculpt on the head?

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wookie Army
« on: August 26, 2004, 11:07 PM »
Much like i've mentioned with Teebo, I think Hasbro should do this...

Make one definitive "generic" wookie sculpt.  Neutral pose, good (or preferably GREAT articulation, like VOTC Chewie), and then release him like that in a deco....  Any generic basic deco.

Later release an army builder of 4 figures, the same exact sculpt, all unique fur colors/patterns.  Like a black with grey-ish stripes, tan, brown, and maybe older looking brown-grey.

Pack in a variety of weapons...  Voila.  Army Building Wookie goodness that, unless E3 blows chunks, would suck the $ right out of the collector's wallets.

Completists will want all 4 variants plus the carded.  Army builders will want massive armies of all 5 figures, and extras to paint, and what kid isn't gonna want wookie troops?

Seems logical to me.  :)

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Are you having fun collecting?
« on: August 26, 2004, 02:26 AM »
I'm having fun through the fact that I customize so things I think suck I am at least working on in my mind how I'd go abut changing them.

I know the feeling though.  I was experiencing something similar during Saga.  Lotsa new product and I'd say well beyond 50% of it was crap in my eyes.  Attrocious stuff that a company as big as Hasbro should never have released with a clear conscious while they still utter that they're doing their best.

But, I always look at things thinking what I'll do to fix it...  If I can...

I rather buy it and say "Not even gonna touch it, it's that good", like the VOTC Han or SA Clone", but alas that's a rarity.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: CHEWIE's CUSTOM UPDATE
« on: August 25, 2004, 11:33 PM »
I know a plethora of people who would be irate that you used a Battle of the Bulge XD figure for customizing since they were (at least at one point) rare.  They're still something you can only get online.  :)

I agree on the Bib.  Best of the bunch, easily.  Very good parts use.

I've never sold anything, just bought, but in my experience of buying I've NEVER had a seller give me the feedback first, even after they've received payment and stuff.  It's like they're afraid if I'm unhappy after getting the product that they want to at least rebuttle with something.

I always am forced to send it first.  What I hate is powersellers (there's a title to be proud of  :-X ) who won't leave any feedback.  Being that I'm right around a positive of 30, every little one helps me increase my total, ya know?  And when that low it looks good.

Sure maybe they've got 5000 Positive, but have the decency to send me a friggin' positive if I took the time to do the same for you, ya know?  Oh well.

I've been through WV on many instances (as it borders Western PA in the south), and I have to say it's quite pathetic.  The truth hurts as they say though...  So I see where the resentment's coming from anyway.

That little nub of it that sticks up between Ohio and PA is alright, but you get down I-79 a ways and things just become one big deliverance theme-park.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: 2 Planes Disappear Over Russia
« on: August 24, 2004, 08:17 PM »
The Chechen presidential elections are Sunday...  I can't imagine this is any strange coincidence.  That area overall's been one of the bloodiest messes in the world since Communism's collapse.

MERC forces have run rampant in fallen and splintered Russian provinces...  It's really terrible.  The terrorism has been out of control too, and really Russia doesn't have the financial ability to even maintain a status quo, much less effectively combat it.

Yes, and yes to the hypnotized aspect too.

I saw commercials all summer for the theme park he ads for, and they're really disturbing.  Oddly, he looks a LOT to me like Dana Carvey in heavy make-up.

Really freakish...

I almost have a sick feeling when I see close-ups too.  Disturbing.

« on: August 24, 2004, 06:37 PM »
I was making some headway this summer with organizing, removing, selling off, and basically getting things in order.  At this point I'm bogged down and school just started today but I'm wanting to keep at the idea of building some shelves.  I have a nice idea of a shelving unit/entertainment stand combo...  I want to get my work bench built as well...

Lots of projects, and no time.  Not a good prognosis, but perhaps I can speed things along.

Thanks man,

I agree, the scale's perfect too.  I remember when I was working on increasing plans for something that I used a CT Stormtrooper because it's so well sized too.

There's a few figures that work well for that, and this Lando would be an ideal one given his very neutral stance.  His articulation's pretty great too in the arms (rare that I praise the angle articulation over ball/sockets), so he can be action posed too.

Short of some leg articulation, he's great.  Knee hinges, or ball/sockets at the knees/feet,  for when he's hanging off the skiff would've been neat, but it wasn't to be.  :(

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed Again
« on: August 24, 2004, 02:07 AM »
Just goes to show that I don't keep up with Unleashed...  You posted on those on the front page matt and a week ago + those arrived out here.  One of those odd times something shows here first I guess.

I need to pay more attention to what's not out I guess.  :(

I want a Bossk though.  He's nifty.

My search continues for VOTC Yoda and Vader, and OTC Jawas, Tusken, and Gamorrean Guard.  :(

That damnable Saga Madine's still on my list too...

The Original Trilogy / Re: Fun with the Military!
« on: August 22, 2004, 03:25 AM »
I consider them akin to the Marines of old...  They perform ship's security primarily, but also function as working crewman aboard the ship (performing various specified duties/tasks).  They're a bit more valuable than a "grunt" soldier in that regard because they have skills beyond fighting.

That's how I've always viewed them personally.  Akin to the redcoats on British Naval vessels in the 18th and 19th century perhaps...  Like on Horatio Hornblower.  They seem to work anything that has a remote function in the navy.  Like even planet-side stations, such as the shield on Endor, which was directly linked to the DS2.
