The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Rumors
« on: April 20, 2016, 05:37 PM »
That's my understanding, yeah. Ahsoka wave, Starkiller Base Rey and then nothing til the SDCC Rogue 1 exclusive no one will be able to get, lol. Kind of a weird schedule but, Hasbro.  :P

Kmart Rey has hit here...  Lots of Kylo as well but that's old hat.

I thought so at first too but the new Kylo that is shipping is actually the "revised" version that has the unique headscarf, etc. So it's technically another variant.  ;D I bought one yesterday and compared it to my original and they are definitely different.

So if ya needed an excuse to buy this all over again for some reason, there ya go :)

Other Toy Lines / Re: ReAction Lines
« on: April 18, 2016, 09:40 AM »
If anyone missed the Comic Con T-1000, there's a seller on Amazon who has a few for $12 shipped:

http://smile.amazon.com/Reaction-Terminator-Judgement-Frozen-Patrolman/dp/B018ILE9VI?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

That's a good price, a lot less than I paid. I finally did get the Battle Damaged Toy Tokyo variant, so my collection is complete.  ;D

Stopped by Barnes and Noble the other day and couldn't find the ReAction display anywhere in the store, nor any of the figures. Wonder if they are dumping the line?

Look like the Asian girl from the shorts is the survivor and new cast member.

From the plane? That would be cool. I have to say those shorts were a lot more interesting than most of FTWD has been.

If you're planning to Jonestown the family, why would you ever make that known ahead of time? Those kids should not have even known about those pills.

So based on what I am seeing, if you are a non-heroin using teenager you pretty much just go nuts right away in the zombie apocalypse? You hate your dad, you start practicing to be a serial killer, you drink too much wine and talk to dangerous boys on the radio, etc. I love that Nick is the only one with any sort of a grip at all.

Wow, so Strand's big secret is an assault rifle and some maps? CALL THE FBI!!! At least he has the only working cell phone left in the universe. Will have to re-watch again next week to see what he actually said...all I got was "Ill be there".  ???

After all the boat drama at the end of last week I almost felt let down we didn't have a daring, open sea chase but I guess that might have blown the budget somehow.

I did like seeing the actress who played the Survivalist Mom again after all her years on The Shield. She always does a solid job.

Terrific stuff, only confirms my interest in all of these. Looking forward to army building the hell out of some White Walkers!  ;D

Yeah, but if you're playing that game, how do you justify taking one of the few prominent Asian roles in the MU and re-casting with an impossibly WASPY white woman like Tilda Swinton? If the idea is to champion diversity, why replace a non-white actor with a white one? That just doesn't make sense to me. (I wont even go into the whole ageism thing)

That's where I am coming from with the whole change for the sake of change complaint. If it serves to drive the narrative in some way, that is one thing, but this example just seem capricious at best.

I do respect there are different, valid opinions on this, I just struggle to understand their (Hollywood's) logic sometimes.

Looks cool but it seems to me if you are going to film an origin story about Dr Strange you would at least need the Ancient One and Baron Mordo. If they can't even be bothered to cast those roles properly, why even bother to make Strange a middle aged white dude? Go ahead and turn him into an elderly Russian paraplegic or an albino Eskimo or whatever daffy mashup those obsequious writers can dream up.

Sorry, I know it is a tiresome rant at this point, I just will never understand the need to change things for no reason whatsoever. There was nothing about his backstory that was offensive or out of place for a modern setting.

You can't pick the Caps in 7...they never win game 7 regardless of their seeding.

This is their year!  :)

I'm not watching.  Season 1 was dreadful.

My wife keeps asking why we don't give FtWD a try.  They hit you with so many previews during TWD, and it seems interesting from the previews.  But then I tell her that I have yet to hear anyone say its not a complete waste of time.

Its like a train wreck to fill the void on Sunday night.

So true! I kinda love to hate it. I think the general idea and narrative framework of the show are solid, it's just the way pretty much all of the characters are written.

PREACHER looks promising though...

So, this again. I realized about halfway through last night the show I really would rather be watching is "STRAND AND NICK AND THEIR ADVENTURES ON THE HIGH SEAS" after they have thrown all those other idiots overboard thus insuring their safety and security forever.  ;)

They need to find a nice white hat for the teenage daughter since she is clearly going to be playing the role of Gilligan on this little three hour tour. "My boyfriend may be dead or not, I don't know, but let's look for cute boys on the radio while I paw at the ink pen tattoo the love of my life just gave me like 2 days ago before I forgot about him." At least she found a way to work the de-salinization system into the conversation.  ::)

Where is the technology that will allow you to reach through the TV scene and just violently shake someone until their brains re-activate?

As many of the mains die on the regular show, I am hopeful a bunch of these morons get eaten up this season and the rest of them get a lot smarter as a result. Starting with the too stupid to believe teenage daughter, the angry for no reason teenage son, and right on down the line.

LOL @ the mom trying to bond with the stupid angry kid over beating up their Dads.

Come on, zombies!!

Some passing questions lingering after the finale:

I think they definitely overdid it as far as the sheer # of Saviors and their omnipotent ability to be everywhere at once. For one thing, it makes it seemingly impossible to believe that with all those guys running around they wouldn't have found Alexandria months ago. I also find it hard to believe they wouldn't have run across the Wolves or vice versa. Or more recently Tara and Heath who have been out on their run for awhile now.

Is it really smart to keep glomming all these people together anyway? What happens when there are so many Saviors they cant support themselves anymore? You can only steal so much after all, it's a very finite # of resources available. I would think the Governor's way would work a lot better - only take the strongest and fittest and eliminate anyone that might be a potential source of trouble.

Seems like the more people you collect the more trouble you are asking for. What if someone wanted to leave and live at the Hilltop? Or Alexandria? Would that be allowed?

After never seeing one in the wild, I got super lucky and snagged a Green Helmet Resistance Trooper for $10 off eBay.  ;D

A worthy addition to the shelf...

The Sequel Trilogy / The Force Awakens - Deleted Scenes
« on: April 6, 2016, 08:54 AM »
Not sure if this merits a separate thread so please feel free to merge. I watched all the deleted scenes last night...surprised there were not more footage in there, I had heard they cut out a lot.

The scene with Finn and the villager would have been good to keep in there since it was so short and does serve to further underscore Finn's abrupt conversion from soldier to sympathizer.

The message from Jakku scene did seem superfluous although it does provide at least a little plausible backstory for how Poe got away.

I liked the X-wings hitting light speed because of Parkman's, er...Snap wexley's one liner "is there any other speed?"  :D

I loved Kylo searching the Falcon, if only for the gratuitous Snowtrooper shots and his demonstration of yet another heretofore unseen power of the Force - psychometry. Interesting how this kid is able to do all these wondrous thing with the Force that no Sith Lord has ever pulled off before, not even Bane or Vader.

Really happy they pulled the snow speeder chase because that whole segment looked like crap I thought. Really bad CGI. Cool to see that this toy actually existed in the film though.

Oh, and still not a single sign of Constable Zuvio anywhere. WTF?!?

Apparently there are some internet photos floating around that claim you can see the outline of a certain characters silhouette shadow on Neegan during the last POV scene.   The speculation is that "clues" were planted in the episode on who the victim was.    I haven't bothered to go look for these photos yet.

I just spent the better part of an hour searching for these pictures and I came up empty, so if anyone finds a good link please share. Kirkman definitely said there were clues on TD, so I am keen to find out what. I think it has to do with how they were lined up and where he ended on just before "it".
