Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2006 American International Toy Fair
« on: January 21, 2006, 08:02 AM »
Well - I'm a little late with the questions, but here are mine:

1) With the Bounty Hunt promotion, will the stickers/cards/whatever that are extra on those figures be unique for each figure, and you will be required to compile a set of all ten (e.g. card/sticker 1 of 10, 2 of 10, 3 of 10, etc...) or if you find say for example six bounty hunts in all one shot, but they're 3x Scorch and 3x AT-AT Driver, can those be six cards/stickers to use towards a GL Stormtrooper?

2) Why no ESB VOTC figures this year?

3) What is the status on re-releasing the Cloud Car?

4) Why not re-release some of the smaller playsets from the vintage line with better paint ops? Dagobah, Ewok Villiage and Star Destroyer Bridge would be great again.

5) Why not re-release the mini-rigs with better paint ops? This should be an easy way to get a variety of vehicles out there at the $10 - $15 price point.

What is up with left arm pose of that Anakin?  Weird...

Agreed and conidering this Anakin originally came with in a duel set with Count Dooku, it's almost like Anakin's just putting his left arm out there saying "go ahead, chop this one off too!" Very odd pose for a figure IMHO.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: TOMY Remote Control R2-D2 at SWS.com
« on: November 16, 2005, 06:37 AM »
I love my remote controlled R2 - like Jesse said, it fits in great with the Hasbro line of 3.75" figures. It physically stands a hair taller than the other R2 units, but it does so for one simple reason - the functioning wheels. If Hasbro were to make the "rolling action" wheels on their astromechs really work with a push, then those figures would stand at the same height too.

I pre-ordered my R4-P17 from the club yesterday and I hope they are going to also be carrying the all black Imperial Astromech (I'm sorry I can't recall it's name, R2-Q6 I think, but I'm not sure).

Down the line, once we get the new R5-D4, I'd love to see Hasbro share the head mold for R5 and then we get a remote controlled version of him.

Finally found the third wave of ROTS packaged Target Cup w/Figure Sets (Vader, Stormtrooper and Leia) - feels good to have almost all of the ROTS line behind me now.

All I have left to get is the Separation of the Twins figures and a one or two more of the Collection 2 final wave army builders (501st and Wookie Heavy Gunner)

As did mine - when i was having trouble scoring the Tarkin wave, I thought I had hit pay-dirt when I was able to order all three of them from Amazon, then I got them in the mail and my hopes of scoring the MOC set I needed were quickly dashed...

Poor packaging, smashed bubbles, creased cardbacks - I promptly sent them back and got a refund.

Yeah - my bad on the number of case estimate. When there were six there and since I got there right when they opened, I had forgotten these things ship in cases of four, not six and since I remembered this variation was supposed to ship in solid cases, I just assumed that it was one case.

Sorry for any confusion....

But what I most definitely saw were TWO cases that had been put out and I left behind the two Sith Evo sets that came with them.

Yeah - $10 more to get two of them w/o having the hassle of frequently hitting the store or gas costs is definitely a easy trade (especially with the current cost of gas)...

This is a GREAT set - I prefer it over the yellow version. The Kama on the ROTS trooper is SUPER cool with the different paint design on the back. I have these two commanders standing with the gray clones that came in the Target Assault on Coruscant battle pack.

Unfortunately no - all of the extras I grabbed are marked for some of my local collector friends here in NJ. I will keep looking though and if I find some, I'll keep you in mind Travis.

No problem - it doesn't happen often for me, but I think I'm one of the first people out there today find both the Utapau Shadow Trooper and Gray Clone Evo set at retail....

I think these will be pretty easy to find/grab. The Target exclusives have been a cake-walk this time around. The local Target near me had a NEW case-worth of Lava Duel figures and two cases of the Attack on Coruscant battlepacks this morning (not to mention the Utapau Shadow Troopers I scored)...

The WalMarts near me had a SEA of the DVD 3-packs yesterday morning. I had already scored them early, so it wasn't that great of a find, but it was nice to see that they got plenty of them in - and one of those sets was clones so that was the real money set. The other two sets will probably hang around for a while yet.

These two figures w/the twins (a) aren't army builders and (b) aren't exactly screaming to kids "BUY ME!!!" - so as collectors I envision these figures as easy to get as the Lava Duel Anakin and Obi-Wan have been.

Scored an entire case (6 of them) of the gray Clone Evolution sets today. My clone army building has officially reached *sickness* levels.

This was at a Target store. This store also had in PLENTY of the Yellow Clone Evo set and Sith Set

At the one Brick store I was in today, I used the price scanner trick and they did come up as having some on hand.

I was able to score eight of them - the guy who brought them out for me said that's all that he had - I wasn't about to argue.

This is a really nice piece. I'm glad I was able to luck out like this.

This morning I scored a case-worth of the Gray Variant Clone Evolutions 3-pack and I also scored some Utapau Shadow Troopers.

Today was a very good SW collecting day!  ;D

Revenge of the Sith / Re: RotS Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter
« on: October 6, 2005, 11:13 PM »
Actually the Plo Koon in the Jedi Council can't really sit well either.

I got my opener Plo Koon fighter today and I took the extra ROTS Plo Koon and Lieutenant Shaky Hands (me) cut off his skirt and now he sits GREAT in the fighter.

So if Lieutenant Shaky Hands can do it, I'm sure you can to D.P.!  ;D

Picked up an opener Plo Koon starfighter (box had a hole in it, but since I wanted one to open anyway, I didn't care).

Nice paint-op on the vehicle, too much like Anakin's from the Clone Wars - I guess GL just liked the look and wanted to use it on a starfighter that showed up in a movie.

Can't wait to see if my ROTS Plo Koon figure fits in the cockpit. What do you think the chances are? I'm betting on slim-to-none.  :P  ::)  ;D
