Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Walking Dead

So awesome! You gotta start slow to build things up, fine with me. Loved Crazy Clara in the woods. (Best line of the night as she approached her campsite, "My husband is just a head"...LOL)

I loved that the kid who died at the end (Patrick?) is the voice of Phineas from Phineas and Ferb. Too funny.

Good points brought up here about the buried gun (agreed it was a metaphor for Rick's transformation) and the eye-bleeding fence walker (definitely related). And let's not forget poor Violet the pig. They need to tread carefully here though, they have never made the virus pathology, etc an important detail of the show, and I would hate to see them paint themselves in a corner with this storyline. This would be more promising if Milton or the CDC guy was still around to investigate.

Yeah, Daryll licking his fingers before shaking hands with Patient Zero was probably a bad idea.

I'm happy they showed no scenes of the Governor in the season previews, the more he is off this show the more I enjoy it. I figure that will be the back half of the season.

Calling it now that ex-Army Medic recovering alcoholic Bob is going to be trouble.

Beth just doesn't care anymore, Maggie is not pregnant, and Carol is teaching knife fighting. Good times!

Saw Machete Kills on Friday night. For the first time I can ever remember, I was LITERALLY the only person in the entire theatre. What a joy!

BTW, lots of great SW shtick in that flick, including an awesome functioning landspeeder.

I picked up an Assault Tank for $10 on clearance at Marshall's today. I had gotten one a few months ago at Target for roughly the same price, but ended up returning it to help buy the 6" Sandtrooper. And now the circle is complete!

Our 5 Below re-opens this Friday, when I'll be at Disney World, dang.

I did see a lone Anakin from the Fox wave at the store across town yesterday.

I also saw a few more recent figures popped up at Tuesday Morning today - Aqua Droid, Shirtless Savage, Phase II Clone etc. Still $6.99 each.

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars Rebels - 5 POA Animated Style Figs
« on: October 13, 2013, 08:23 AM »
Looks like I spoke too soon. From Imperial Shipyards' Q&A:

"The "Rebels" toyline will be somewhat stylized in the same design as the animation but will be closer to a "realistic" style than "Clone Wars" style."

So, instead of picking a particular style they just found a way to piss everyone off. WTF does "somewhat stylized" even mean? They'll kind of look like the characters from the show, but not really? No thanks.

Yeah, logically it's hard to see Vader NOT being the one to personally hunt down the Jedi, I mean, what else is he doing all that time? Paperwork? I like the design of The Inquisitor and all but he seems better suited as a henchman and not the lead bad guy. The double bladed light saber seems a little much too. Something less overtly Sithy would have been cooler I think.

It's fertile storytelling ground to be sure though...

I was wondering the same thing, actually. I am heading down to Disney World later this week.  ;D

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars Rebels - 5 POA Animated Style Figs

I think the 5 POA sucks, but producing them in a style consistent with how they look on the show is the right way to go IMO. If they mesh well with the Clone Wars aesthetic, so much the better.

I think it remains to be seen what the actual show will be like. Despite ariring on Cartoon Network, Clone Wars had a lot of adult content seemingly aimed at a more mature audience. The last few seasons did not feel much like a kid show. (In a good way, but I could see them lightening things up this time around with less darker overtones)

I expect to like the show as I have enjoyed all the previous Star Wars animated fare. And I do miss collecting Star Wars stuff since the Clone Wars line ended. So I'm probably all in on these guys.

Saw the Commander Fox wave at Five Below.

Dang, that's awesome! The local 5 Below near us is closed for renovations, but I may have to check out the store across town.

Rebels figures will be styled based on the animation (i.e. not realistic).

Quote
Sadly, Star Wars: Rebels will be five points of articulation and the good news is the look of the characters will mirror how they appear in the show.

 ;D ;D ;D

I hate losing the articulation, but it's a worthy trade-off IMO. Psyched to have a new line to jump into now! (Eventually...)

Other Toy Lines / Re: The Walking Dead

Just got back from TRU where I was able to score the new Dixon Brothers 2-pack hot off the truck. Price was $29.99, but I will likely just return it when my local comic shop gets these as they are usually cheaper. They also had the latest TV Series on the pegs (Andrea, Carl, etc) for something crazy like $15.99 I think?

Super psyched to have scored this right before Sunday's premiere!

I'm still watching it, the shiny newness has worn off a little, and my enthusiasm has waned, but I'm sticking it out. It's starting to feel like a bad "Fringe" rip-off at this point though.

I tie it all back to the central problem with this show. You can't have a show set in the Marvel Universe with no actual super heroes or super villains. Otherwise it just gets tiresome quickly. No more nameless scientists, rich magnates, etc. I want guys in costumes robbing banks!

I think some suit at the studio fears the first sight of spendex will make the show a mockery. Screw that. Be true to the source material!

And where the hell is Dum Dum Dugan?!?!

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series - 2013 Wave 2
« on: October 10, 2013, 09:16 AM »
After checking out all the photos from NYCC, Leia still looks terrible IMO. Less googly eyed but the joints are off the chain atrocious.

rest of the wave still looks great tho!

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6
« on: October 10, 2013, 09:15 AM »
Oh man, he looks TERRIBLE from the neck up, IMHO. Why does Hasbro fail so spectacularly at reproducing a decent Anakin likeness? Is this from the cut scene where Padme gives him a home perm? He looks like he used the low flow shower head from that Seinfeld episode!

I can't see how this would come from the same guy that did the Han sculpt, which is terrific.

Plus didn't they already show this guy off in Europe earlier this year?

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars Rebels - Cardback Revealed

They're 5 POA  :-\

Source? Is this coming straight from Hasbro? Have not seen confirmation elsewhere yet, but good scoop if true.

I like the cardback too. Its screams "Animated" to me though, so I will continue to hope against hope we get stuff that will mesh with the Clone Wars aesthetic. Highly detailed does not necessarily imply realistic. (Although I won't be the least bit surprised if that is the way they go)

I wonder if they will release any ships or vehicles from this show too, or if the offerings will be confined to figures.
